ok, am back for my two bits...
zainab, while i understand completely what you are attempting to say here and credit you with the courage to say it not fearing assassination, maybe it just needs to be refined a little.
several people may have mentioned this in one context or the other, and i have not read the posts, but it is true that nobody looks for a message in a tv show and when a show is message oriented, it is rarely entertaining.
the question is what is a show conveying inadvertantly? that college kids fall in love not because they bond, not because they share their innermost thoughts and feelings and fears and likes and dislikes, not because they spend time with each other, not because they stand up for each other, not because they themselves grow as people in each others' company, but because they see another without a shirt, because one carries the other heroically, because one spouts dialogues written in a play to another...if i ever to fall for every guy who has played my romantic lead in a theatrical production, i would be quite the unhappy person right now!
while the above may be true for a vast majority of college students, it is not what someone who has followed the stories of mayank and nupur closely, expects of the two.
maank is not the proverbial hero. he is not a player, he is the serious, responsible career oriented fella and nupur is far from the typical heroine. she is spunky, has a mind of her own, is street smart, gutsy and confident.
when two such people feel the pull, it is unnatural to expect them to fall to the level of the ordinary and the mundane. the unimaginative carnal aspect would not be the basis of attraction between two such characters. such characters would find themselves falling in love when one challenges the other in wit. their story would be high octane, yes, but not in terms of physical passion. one expected to see intellectual passion between them.
this is our problem. that no time was spent in allowing a meaningful relationship to grow between the two richest characters in the show. they have fought and reconciled and helped each other out of sticky situations a couple of times but beyond that they have never really connected. had passion entered their story after a genuine connection had been explored, am sure the passion would have been explosive, but to make that very passion the basis for a connection is completely debasing the depth that these characters have!
allow them to explore each other as individuals and honestly, not by playing characters in play and then get them to explore the delights of each others' bodies...right now we are just getting to see the cart before the horse!!
i agree.....v r not looking for a messege in MJHT....but problem is v r getting one.....one that just do not sit well with me.....
@bold....exactly....i was looking forward for some witty interactions....spunky flirtation.....may b a bit of a battle of wills......as both of them have strong personalities.....but alas!!...
@all who think v r against the Mayur LOVE STORY in the show........v know it was supposed to b a lOVE STORY.....its not the LOVE story v have the problem with......its the LOVE STORY with out LOVE that v have a problem with......the way the so called LOVE is developed b/w Mayank and Nupur....and the way it is presented is our main problem.......PASSION n pure attraction cannot sum up a LOVE STORY.........
