Samrat is in his room, lightly strumming his guitar. He has a content and peaceful smile on his face which comes from how everything has turned out right in the end. Suddenly his eyes fall on a photo frame on the
desk - Samrat with Uday, Dia and Benji in Mumbai's Inorbit Mall. Seeing that photo from days gone by,
he suddenly remembers Dia. He had been so wrapped up with Gunjan and Nupur that he completely forgot to go and meet her! Even though he had no romantic feelings for her but she was an old friend and a beautiful one at that. He liked spending time with her and it was evident that she thought the world of
him. He tries calling her up on her cellphone but all he gets to hear is subscriber can't be reached messages.
Samrat: lagta hai Kandy khafa ho gayi hai. Koi baat nahi, Samrat se koi bhi zyada der tak khafa nahi reh
sakta. Use kal college me mana hi lunga.
(As he is about to turn in for the night, a series of hiccups start to plague him, one after the other.)
Samrat: arey..itni hichkiyan kyun aa rahi hai mujhe? (He picks up a bottle from his bedside and gulps
down some water.) Aise toh main..hic..so hi nahi paunga..hic. Arey chashmish, itna mat yaad karo! Kal main tumse milunga na college me!
Cut to: Home - Gunjan
She is in bed and is feeling rather lonely as Nupur's bed is empty. But her sis will be back soon and she
finds happiness in the fact. She is thinking about her performance in the talent parade and how Samrat
made it one of the most special times in her life so far. As she starts feeling sleepy and her eyes almost
shut, she hears a voice in the darkness - "chashmish!" All her sleep vanishes into thin air as she sits up
straight and looks around. She walks up to the window to see if there is any ladder lying nearby, then walks back and looks under the bed, in the cupboard, and in the bathroom too. But there isn't anyone there! She is part relieved, part disappointed as she gets back to bed and this time she does manage to get to sleep.
Cut to: Excel College - Next Morning
There is a prayer session in the hall and everyone maintains a 2 minute silence to pray for peace to the
souls of the departed. Many eyes are moist as they realize the friends they have lost will never come back
to them. For some, it is a moment of pain, for some its that of thankfulness - being grateful to tragedy for
having spared their preferred fond one.
Cut to: Excel College - Mayank's Classroom
It is Deodhar Sir's class and he is in a foul mood today. The students are mostly looking around for a way
to escape and even the sincere ones are feeling the wrath of his temper. Mayank is sitting by himself, with
no Nupur beside him to lift his spirits. He looks up at Deodhar Sir, who is busy making life difficult for
CJ.
Deodhar: tum logo se kuch umeed karna hi galat hai. Is question ka answer toh sixth standard ke students ko bhi pata hoga!
CJ: sorry Sir.
Deodhar: u r not at all sorry! Tumhe bas talent parade me so called talent dikhane se matlab hai. Next
time if u don't have an answer u r going straight to the Principal, do u get that?
As CJ nods a sarcastic yes, a confident "May I come in Sir?" is heard from the door. Everyone turns
their heads in the direction of the voice and lots of heads turn static in their new positions. The frame
freezes to focus on the owner of the voice - a tall and refreshingly good looking girl, carrying her
straight fit blue jeans and jade green top with an unparalleled panache, looking elegant in a very subtle
and understated manner.
Deodhar: yeh koi time hai class me aane ka?
(Into the frame comes the college's Principal, beaming. Both of them come inside, while the class is still
dumbfounded.)
Principal: Deodhar, yeh mere cabin me thi isliye late hai.
Students, yeh hai Miss Sandhya, Excel College ki new student. Pehle yeh US me thi aur waha ki university
se inki jo report aayi hai..oh its excellent, excellent! (He is beaming even more) Pata nahi unhone tumhe jaane kaise diya Sandhya! Hahaha! (Sandhya is demure and gives him a formal smile.) Mujhe ummeed hai ke aap sab inhe yaha welcome zarur karenge..main aur waqt nahi lunga, continue Deodhar!
After he has left, Sandhya wishes Deodhar a good morning and apologizes for being late. She looks around the class to spot an empty seat. The only place she sees is beside Mayank and she goes up there to sit by him. Mayank looks at her and they exchange a pleasant smile.
