Chandni's character is repulsive

It seems that the director does not realize that viewers like strong characters and hate weak people. Initially, we all liked Chandni in the role of the cute little loved-by-all daughter in the family, but the problem is she is not a 4 year old baby.

Think about babies - we like them because babies are cute and helpless - say words funnily and we adults love cute babies. That is why we like kittens, pups, tiger cubs. But if the baby (human) continues to be helpless, does idiotic things, talk awkwardly and constantly needs support and care, we use the term mentally retarded to describe such people.

I am increasingly getting this feeling about Chandni. She is just a good looking mentally retarded girl -thats it. For the last one month I have been disgusted by the serial and especially the lead actress for her sheer stupidity. All that she does in the serial is -----

Cries.....Shows fear....mumbles......curse herself....shoes fear...cries...shows fear....mumbles.....cries.....cries....cries....cries......mumbles.....cries

She SUCKS BIG TIME!!!!

I used to watch the serial for Shravan coz I thought he was the most natural in his acting. Since he is not there any more I do not watch it at all, and I am sure I am not the only one.

Seriously Chandni's character is getting more irritating day by day...she can't take one decision by herself,why is she going on a self sacrificing mission for nothing?i don't understand her reasoning at all....... i don't know why the creatives have made her so weak?its a serious blow to a show which is supposed to be promoting girl child's rights, if the protagonist is portrayed so weak....what is the message they are sending across to the viewers....that girls can't take decisions for themselves,that they can't differentiate between right and wrong,girls can't speak for themselves, can't have a life of their own apart from the family.....

its high time that this show pulls itself out of this slump and the creatives come up with interesting and relevant plots....and most importantly make chandni's character strong.....

I am totally agree with u. Every time I see this show it feels like they are insulting girls. Being a girl I am feeling insulted. From the very first day of Mugdha's introduction they started to talk about her marriage. Lalaji only thought from her childhood when she will become 18 years old and He will give her marriage. His all duties will be finished. Chandni knew from the very first day of pj's introduction that he is not good. But she cant tell it to lalaji. What the creatives want to show? Girls are so weak that they cant speak for themselves. They always have to sacrifice. This is not sacrifice. This is suicide. Even if Chandni knew that they are going to cheat lalaji(she knew that pj's family gave her the bangles which are not real god) then also she doesn't speak up. I cant bear any more insult towards girls.

I think it is part Lalaji who turned Chandni into someone like this. I think Lalaji thinks that he was not able to take care of his little sister properly during partition and hence he was over protective of chandni when she was born. Also I think he wants to give her to a able person so that she is taken care of properly. If you look at Karan Wahi's introduction episode that is what Lalaji is asking for in the Golden temple. I think chandni knows what dreams Lalaji had for her and she knows he feels guilt on his sister's behalf. I think that is what is making chandni not to say anything which will worry her lalaji.

If you look at chandni's state she is a motherless child and her father is not stable. Having parents to look after you no matter what makes you bold and this is what chandni lacks so I think this makes her to sacrifice everything for her family. But enough is enough. I am not going to see this serial whole next week. If by the end of next week they show PJ and chandni getting married then it is Adios for this serial for me. I don't care how, what and who will help Chandni and Raj get married but if by the end of next week if they don't show PJ out of the show then I will be going out.

I think we should mail colors about this. It's enough. If they don't listen to us we will stop watching it. Their mail id feedback@colorstv.in. They should stop showing girls so weak.

i agree with u. this story was initially based on giving equal imp & opputunities to a girl child. but as soon as the girl turned 18 they were thinking of her marriage. why cant the creatives show a girl career oriented? i agree tht chandni cares about lalaji but does tht mean she cant even express her feelings? honestly thts not a right eg. for the society. i love mugdha but not as chandni.

The producers / directors have fallen into the pit they themselves created. As per my understanding, the producers wanted to show that the girl was family-oriented, adarsh nari that cares for the family, and the family responds by caring for the girl. In a culture where the girl child is put through humiliations, the producers wanted to show that the girl in this serial forms an integral part of the lives of the family members. Nothing wrong with that.

The trouble is that the serial makers overdid it. As always, the overkill spoilt a perfectly noble and well-intended plot. And to hilarious results!!

I feel that the serial producers realise their mistake in potraying Chandni as a weak character, but what choice do they have ? They have gone too far to retrace back. They tried to show Chandni as the character who will sacrifice anything for her family, but such characters in the history of television serials (the little that I have viewed) are inevitably strong.

The first name that springs to mind is Bhishma Pitamah from Mahabharat (played by Mukesh Khanna). He sacrificed everything for others, yet we adore him as one of our favorite characters. Sadly, we cannot say the same for Chandni!!!

God save this serial. I only feel bad for Shravan. He did a serial after almost a year, and even then the producers gave him a raw deal. It's such a pleasure to watch to watch him onscreen, but he's thoroughly under utilised!
