Mere ghar aayi ek nanhi pari tipped to end |
The life span of soaps is shrinking. In this utterly competitive market, channels can't afford to show much patience with a sluggish player. The buzz goes that Colors has decided to pull the plug on DJ's show Mere ghar aayi ek nanhi pari. The show had launched on 9 March 2009. "Mere ghar.. has failed to rake in the desired ratings. The show simply has not been able to compete with rival shows like Yeh rishta kya kehlata hai and Agle janam mohe bitiya hi kijo. So, Colors will take the show off air in the month of July," says a source. We spoke to few actors who weren't overtly surprised by the news. An actor says, "Thus far I've been hearing rumours but there's no official confirmation. I hope this is not true as it's never good when your show goes off air. Though I must confess that we've found the going tough." Another actor adds, "We knew this would have happened sooner or later. If you ask me for a reason then certain things in our show simply aren't real. How can an affluent family from Delhi marry off their daughter at the age of 18? Such a thing is fine if you're a Balika Vadhu or in shows with rural background. You have to be realistic. The viewer will simply not accept it." We tried contacting producer Tony Singh and event sent him a text message but he didn't respond. Colors creative head (fiction) Saurabh Tiwari said, "No, the show isn't going off air In fact, we'll be having plenty of twists in the coming weeks." |
