I wish those people actually worked on something more important than taking away peoples rights.

Okay so I found more info on european union website:

ACTA - Anti-counterfeiting Trade Agreement

What is ACTA?
  • ACTA ensures people everywhere can continue to share non-pirated material and information on the web
  • ACTA does not restrict freedom of the internet. ACTA will not censor or shut down websites.
  • ACTA ensures that organised crime can be pursued when intellectual property is stolen - harming innovation, fair competition and destroying your jobs
  • ACTA is not about how we use the internet in our everyday lives.
  • ACTA allows people to continue using their social networks such as Twitter and Facebook just as they have in the past ' no change.
  • Computers, iPads or iPhones will not be checked or monitored ' ACTA is not Big Brother.
Why is ACTA not SOPA?
  • SOPA is a US draft law that would change US legislation. ACTA does not require any EU law changes. Anything you can do legally today is still legal after the ratification of ACTA.
  • ACTA does not foresee cutting off internet access to anyone.
So why does the EU support ACTA?
  • Because ACTA ensures the EU's already high standard of protection for intellectual property goes global - protecting jobs in Europe. Because Europe is losing '8 billion annually through counterfeit goods flooding our market.

thanks for posting, all these changes were amended after floods of protests and whatever they say, they are still mandating the three strike rule someway or other, sneakily. the owrst part it, there is so much secrecy about it, not even the signing countires knows whats going on.

well in a democracy its illegal to stop us from our right to speak as we feel...they are banning networkings coz they think we are attacking the current government ... comeon u cant do that ...
and well piracy ?? lolz its not only in internet u can never stop it ... ppl sell xerox books here in a metro city like kolkata .. on foot paths and police gets paid for it ... we see cds .. music everything pirated selling what about them ??
closing down sites is no solution we have legal documents too there ...
the government need more filters to channel everything and close those links not the whole damn site

if everything will be closed then whats the use of buying laptops .. notebooks and all ... we better go back to the era ... and stop every technology ... this is what the government is wanting ...

they closed megaupload? i was like stunned ... its dan unfair

I Understand the piracy stuff and all, but ain't going too much overboard with the rules of the law? This is way too stupid... don't tell me we have to use signatures/avis/icons of our favs now...mostly everyone does that IF...and the SOPA/PIPA thing is just plainly ridiculous -_____-

i dont think they can shut down YT, becoz now they have official partners who are posting their work everyday, losing YT will be a big loss for them as they are earning profits, every movie, producer, TV channel, actor/actress mostly have either their original accounts or fan accounts on YT, how can it shut down besides its a legal website...i am sure now Youtube will become more strict in rules than ever..after all its part of the no 1 site of internet which is Google and currently YT Is no .3

but yeah shutting down sites likes megaupload is just an example of buffoonery, its a file hosting site for God sake, and if the admins are making illegal money they should be busted and site should be taken either hold of or should given to other domains, why shutting it down permanently...US has turned psycho, there are killing the BOON...screw u ppl big time. hate u
