18th October is when it all started.No one knew what was in store for us.
How the story was going to unravel.Without any preconceived notions we were just eager to watch the show.Most of us wanted to know what is so bold in the show?Promos looked quiet promising.
Then came the first episode.By the end of it most of the girls had fallen in love with Aditya Jhakhar aka Raqesh Bapat.The lead girl Priya's character left us confused and wondering.
Very slowly the story started to unfold.The story was about four woman who were surrounded by difficulties,miseries,unhappiness and questions which had no answer.
Priya:A girl whose mother died when she was very young lives with her father and younger brother.She has a very dark past which makes her present life unbearable.Failures come from every nook and corner.Eventually she falls in love with a guy and also gets married to him but the worst is yet to come.The villain of her dark past i.e. the guy who had molested her in past and made her life a living hell is none other than her father in law.She wants to fight ,is confused between husband's love and her own dignity.She decides to stay strong and face the problem.
Devyani: She is just perfect.A dutiful wife and daughter in law, loving mother,caring elder sister.She has a big smile on her face all the time but is it really true?All these years she was so busy doing all the chores and duties that she has totally forgotten who she really is.Besides her elder son no one knows whats hidden in those eyes of hers.Her husband is a serial philanderer ,a corrupt police officer,a hypocrite ,a cheater .But she has turned a blind eye to it because in the past when she came to know about this she revolted,sadly her husband warned her that he will take the kids away from her forever.She complied but now with Priya's support she has decided to take a stand against her husband
Vidya :She is newly married to the eldest son of Devyani .A very innocent girl from a village who is too naive for the city life.The relationship with her husband seems estranged.She leaves no stone unturned to woo her husband but her husband doesn't ever get affected.Where lies the problem?Turns out her husband is actually gay ,who under the influence of his mother had gotten married to a girl so that his own father ,his brother and rest of the world wouldn't question him or ridicule him.She is left aghast.Saddened by this she leaves home and tries to commit suicide but all in vain.She accepts her husbands sexual orientation but still would die for his safety.

Uttara: Sister of Devyani,a very joyous and happy go luck type of personality.Her nephews and niece love her playful nature.As much as she loves spending time at her sisters house she hates going to her own house because she is scared of her husband.Her husband is abusive and very insecure.Lost his job and jealous of his wife's beauty ,he always doubts on her.He even agrees with a guy who wants to have a one night stand with Uttara but at the right time Devyani saves her.One day things go out of hand ,become very violent and to save herself Uttara ends up killing her husband.Devyani's husband who is a cop covers up the whole murder very cleverly.Days pass by and now Uttara who lives at Devyani's house with her daughter catches the eagle eye of Devyani's husband Brahmanand Jhakhar.He lusts for her but pretends to be in immense love with Uttara.He convinces her that her sister is bad , irresponsible and selfish hence she also falls into the trap.She starts loving him back and eventually they marry.Devyani knows it all and is deeply saddened by this and now wants to teach a lesson to Brahma
I have been with this show with its ups and downs.I really appreciate the step the makers of this show have taken to highlight some major flaws of our society be it the gay track or many Indians wives who just hold themselves back whose husbands cheat on them.I am not saying this show is spotless,yes it has flaws here and there but hey it doesnt leave a single chance to surprise us.For me its one of the best shows on tv right now.It might not have that cliched greatest love story ever or Saas-Bahu sagas and thats what works for me really .
After 10 years of watching same story in new package this show gave a refreshing start.Its quiet a delight to watch.š
Since it has completed a year lets all celebrate with pomp and show and Congratulate the Maryada team and us viewers who have contributed to its successš„³
