REserved My first analysis on this show😊 Feeling nervous!😳
Aditya aka Raquesh - I must say that this dude is something😃 His eyes are so expressive😳 And the best thing I like about him is how he swtiches over from perfect Haryanvi lingo to Perfect Engish👏👍🏼 Finally found someone whom I can love both as an actor and character😆
Ysterday he was so sweet with Vidya😳 Teasing her to no end. I am sure once he comes to know about Gaurav's true colors, he gonna stand by his Bhabhi and get her justice😃
Priya aka Ridhi - After watching the episodes, I felt that this girl is quite good when it comes to potraying a scared, reserved. do not touch me types girl👍🏼. But I found her lacking in the dept of potraying being in love Yesterday the blush on her face was missing when she realized that she is falling in love with Aditya. I want her to express through eyes😳
Other characters- They were good and did justice to their roles😊
Otherwise, story, flow, execution, editing was all perfect👏I am really looking fwd to AdiYa meet in today;s episode😳

Agreed! I'm so happy he's not the typical (of these days) unpadh-gawaar, goonda-mawali types...his haryanvi is interspersed with educated English...on that note, is it me or has his Haryanvi become more pronounced since the show started? I recall it being only a small part of his lingo and then became more and more the norm...? Not that I'm complaining...his use of it is sexy😳

What I also love is that the whole family has a slightly different lingo/dialect. SSP is pakka Haryanvi Jat, Devyani is more standardised Hindi, and Aditya is a combo of his parents, plus the English😳 Gaurav and Vidya have a Haryanvi dialect, and Uttara's is most pronounced, and Sweety is more English and Standardised Hindi. Its so realistic that everyone in the family would be influenced by each other and the world around them. It does make you wonder though - Uttara and Devyani are sisters, so was it the case that Uttara picked up the dialect after marriage, or did Devyani lose the dialect? Whatever the case, I like that they have the look of an ancestral family with their local customs and traditions but aren't, as I said, typical sexist/chauvinistic illiterate, "rural" families like we see so often today.

btw, welcome to the show! No need to feel nervous, everyone here is Aditya-sized friendly😳😆

@Jaya - thank u for opening the post.....
U padosi forum aaryaa is here.... lol
well i liked this serial initailly...it looked promising but now i am having doubts...
I dont see the reason y Aditya and Priya are falling for each other... there has been no understanding between them n its all raw...
raw ness is fine...
its good to see aditya speak haryanvi and english both well... but somehow all i see is his lust for priya..no love...love needs time to develop n there has to be reason....
but here i see him lusting for her...instead of hving any talk with her, he always is trying to nuzzle her or get physical...
Priya - i find her very plastic n sorry but ridhi cant act at all...

November 26 & 29, 2010 - Last Friday/Monday

I just caught up with today's episode. It was the perfect filler episode to follow the more drama-filled one from last Friday.

Let me start with the key scenes that stood out for me in Friday's episode.

Babuji - Devyani

This was the first of two stand-out sequences in Friday's episode. Clearly bothered by what Aditya regurgitated about Devyani's and his visit to the Pradhans, Babuji immediately confronts Devyani to make his feelings known. The cornerstone of his anger is directed at Devyani for misleadingly painting Brahmanand as the ideal husband to the Pradhans. The guilt Devyani is already feeling bubbles over in her helpless confession that she has been hiding so many things for so long that she has lost the ability to differentiate between what the truth is and what is not. In response, Babuji acknowledges that Devyani's lies have kept the family together...as a strong unit...but the very same lies are eating away at her on the inside. He encourages her to face the reality of her life before another smart, intelligent and truth speaking daughter-in-law, like she herself used to be, enters the family and tears Devyani apart. But Devyani continues to insist that she would not break down till she has settled the lives of her sons and that she would definitely bring Priya in to the family for Aditya. The more pragmatic Babuji, however, prophetically reminds her that Priya hates policemen and given the type of cop that Brahmanand is, a confrontation is inevitable. At this Devyani points out she knows exactly where Brahmanand is at that moment but that she will protect her family from such truths no matter how many lies it takes.

Now, I have described this conversation in more detail than is needed for any analysis because I loved how well done it was! I simply love how Babuji constantly shines the light at the mirror Devyani does not want to see...the voice of reason...the voice of her conscience. Devyani's mention of doing her best to preserve Vidya's perception of Brahmanand as an ideal non-bribe accepting officer confirmed my thoughts from the previous episodes...the depiction of Brahmanand shown with respect to Yashpal and his son was meant to be misleading.

Uttara - Rishabh

This scene from Friday where Uttara returns home from Ghaziabad to find Rishabh sitting in the dark was short but it stood out for me as it showcased another typical characteristic of physical abusers...their underlying sexual aggression towards the victim. While the depiction here was more subtle keeping in mind the sensibilities of the audience, it still pleased me to see the writers not shying away from this all too common aspect of the abusers psyche. The screenplay and acting also captured the small and telling details like Uttara's initial quick expression of fear when she sees Rishabh drinking. Simply brilliant!

Aditya/Sweety & Priya/Chinu

The parallel sibling conversations were the final sequence on Friday. The contrasting emotions and fears were depicted well. So Aditya wants to be a politician...interesting. Wonder if this will be another story track in the future.

Coming to yesterday's episode...it was a nice break from the intensity in Friday's screenplay. There was not much to analyze but a couple of things that stood out for me were:

Pradhan Family

I loved that the focus of yesterday was showing the Pradhans interacting like normal families would. Old aspects of Priya's personality return as she allows herself to feel again. While I found Priya's imagining of Aditya and repeated day dreaming at home premature for their love story, I will write it off as a concession to what is needed for ratings. Personally, I think the Aditya-Priya story needs to slow down and take its time. Its current pace feels very hurried to me.

Jhaakar Family

Like with the Pradhans, here too, the screenplay focused on the mundane day-to-day family interactions. I particularly liked Aditya and Vidya starting to bond...was wondering when that would ever be shown and glad to see that making it to the screenplay.

Devyani - Gaurav

Determined to find Gaurav, Devyani finds bills for a house rental in Gaurav's office. She uses that to find the apartment of Gaurav's mystery person. She finds Gaurav there and learns the mystery person tried committing suicide and is in the hospital. I don't think we are going to learn the sex of this person so soon though.

Overall: Great episodes...both of them.

Loved:

  • The storytelling style of seamlessly moving from the drama high points to the story plateaus and back to the drama "peaks". Well done
  • Friday's episode screenplay.
  • The family moments in both households
  • Showing Vidya starting to slip in to the mode of lying to hide the reality of Gaurav & her.

So-So:

  • While the episodes showed Vidya lying about receiving calls from Gaurav, I wish the screenplay had also shown Devyani showing some regret that her daughter-in-law was unconsciously starting to go down the path she did years ago as a young bride. I think this would have been a nice touch considering Babuji made a point of comparing Vidya to a young Devyani.

As always, feel free to tear this apart.

Cheers,

Jaya

@Pallu...🤗...well said! Hope you post your views regularly my friend!

@psawyer: Hiya...I am Jaya. What can we call you? Very interesting post about the dialects. I have a poor ear for that and confess to not noticing the different ones you pointed out. Now that I read this, I will keep my ear open. 😊

@Aaryaa...🤗...Hey....glad to see you drop by. Aditya was instantly attracted to Priya and with his personality type, he just went after her without any hesitation. 😆. It does feel a bit rushed at times but in a series filled with so many intense story tracks, I think the creative team needed one track to appeal to a wider audience. Do continue to watch the show. The story and screenplay work is some of the best I have seen.

Jayaaaaaaaa , thanks for liking it😳 I agree with on the point of Devyani showing some regret PSawyer, thank you!🤗 I completely agree with you.
@aarya, well,. the Chora is quite fast! 😉😆 Thats the way I like it😃 As far as lust is concerned, he is physically attracted towards her but then he respects her too😃 We will see in future, how he stands by girl and show their emotional bonding. 😳 Right now, his focus is to make her admit her love for him. 😃

Hi Jaya, I'm Vasu 🤗

Lovely analysis of both eps👏 I agree with much of what you and the others wrote. I will say this - I also feel that the love track is being rushed and that it feels slightly unbelievable that Priya-Aditya would fall in love so soon, but I wouldn't say that Aditya's feelings for Priya are lust. Respectfully disagreeing with Aaryaa, I feel that Aditya is the kind of person who makes friendships quite easily, and falls in love quite easily as well, not just a romantic love but love for his bhabhi or his friends. By this I don't mean to suggest that his love for Priya is infatuation or not serious....he is spontaneous but I don't think he is impulsive to the point of naivety. I think he's just the kind of guy who thinks "why waste precious time when I know in my heart what I want".

Having said that, even I think it is slightly impulsive to rush into this marriage track, and normally I hate that kind of rushed, forced track in storytelling. However, there are a number of reasons that I am willing to concede and let that go here:

1. It is obvious that the creatives feel that the real story of Maryada begins when Priya becomes SSP's bahu and comes face to face with him. Whether or not we agree with that, this fast-track love story is infinitely preferable to me than to show Aditya-Priya married from episode one and then to have an incident happen to her. Lofty ideals aside, I do love a good romance😳

2. Even though the love track might be rushed, there is not much illogicality to it. It's not like the typical boy-hates-girl, boy insults girl, girl marries him to take badla or teach him a lesson or contract marriage or falana-falana crap that we usually get, specifically from K shows. Aditya-Priya at the very least genuinely like each other. And on top of that, so much has happened in the time since the show began - Aditya has seen Priya try to commit suicide three times, he's seen her ex-fiancee and found out that he left her on the day of the wedding, he knows there was something in her past that left her heartbroken etc etc. He knows so much more about her at this early stage than most telly husbands know after years of marriage😆 She has not been less than honest with him, has not hidden anything from him and, aside from the truth about the letter, neither has he. That's refreshing. Add to that, the other tracks in the tale - Uttara/Rishabh, Vidya-Gaurav etc are also shaping up quite nicely alongside this one. It may take dominance sometimes, but its not like the creatives have forgotten about the others.

3. Following on from that, I have seen (and loved) many shows where the hero and heroine take their time and their love story proceeds slooooooooowly - slow is great because you get more screen time and more time to analyse and fall in love with the characters. But there comes a point where the chase becomes tired...and when your favourite characters/jodi don't fall in love/get married after 2/3 years of the track beginning, you begin to appreciate fast-paced storytelling😆 I'd rather have Aditya-Priya get together too quickly than to have to watch them marry 4 different people each first...

4. While I don't put any store in TRPs and hate when tracks are changed to maximise audience appeal, I agree with Jaya here that even in a 'bold drama', most audiences need a 'hook', which is usually a love story.

Finally, with regards to Priya, I don't see so much that she has fallen head over heels for Aditya - even he knows that while she might love him, it is less than he loves her. From her point of view, here comes a guy she has never met before, but from the first meeting appears to be her knight in shining armour - saving her life on countless occasions, simply being there every time she needs someone, and giving her the courage to face her critics. After however long its been since the incident, Priya has seen nothing but insult, desertion and pain. Contrasting Aditya to Aman must prove a heady feeling for her. Why would this guy care so much about her, do so much for her, if he was playing games? To me, that is the crux of where her feeling for him comes from. Partly respect, partly gratitude, and partly this understanding that Aditya is the first person in a long, long time to even want anything to do with her, let alone love her. What Chinu said to her was, sadly, right - why would anyone want to marry her after what she has been through. It sucks, and I hate that idea, but in the society that she is in, Priya has witnessed it. So to her, Aditya is really her only hope to escape her past. I'm not saying she's using him, or that she doesn't or won't fall in love with him as he is with her...just that its understandable that all this tumult of emotions have cascaded upon her so quickly, and from her side I can see how she is ready to confess her love.

the episode was darn cute 😳😆
it was good to see Priya smiling like that. The feeling of falling in love! feeling the changes in you. and she saw Aditya everywhere 🤣 it was cute! also loved how Priya and her family bond was shown...especially loved it when Priya saw Aditya in her father 🤣🤣
loved the Bhabi and Devaar interaction. It was cute too. and loved when Aditya says that the difference between the two brothers is that one thinks with the heart while the other thinks from the brains.
In the future I am guessing Aditya will be supporting his Bhabi against his bhai.
and most importantly i am curious to know what is up with Gaurav😆
