Jays, Vasu, Palluluvsmaan, Cacoethes...loved reading all your views. Thank you for taking the time to share it!

I liked both the episodes this week. The Uttara - Gaurav scene today was cool. I like the Aditya - Priya love story but agree that it is in some sort of fast-forward mode.

I read the article about Gaurav and am disappointed. 🤔

That's it for now. Will hopefully be more regular going forward.

@Jaya, @soap-critic, @noor_ayesha and others - 🤗🤗 Thank you...loved all your posts...

Coming to yesterday's ep, a more sedate episode than the masti of the day before, but no less excellent for that. I'd like to analyse certain scenes and relationships thus:

Devyani-Gaurav

I'm in two minds about this scene. While I like that Gaurav's story is opening up, there were things in this scene that by turns infuriated and saddened me. And actually, a lot of it depends on exactly what Gaurav's situation is, because I was having a dual reaction . Like you all, I read the article that states that apparently Gaurav is not gay (boo if this is true!), but to be honest, the way this scene went I was still convinced that he is gay, simply because nothing else even makes sense! Why would SSP be so against Gaurav's marriage to another woman? Okay, so Aditya is his favourite son but he doesn't hate Gaurav or wish him ill, I presume. From what we have seen of this family, they are fairly liberal minded (I mean, SSP agreed to Aditya-Priya's marriage without seeing her or even knowing her name, simply because Aditya loves her!), so what possible thing could prevent Gaurav being with who he wanted? Unless she's his mother's age, of course, in which case I guess SSP probably wants her for himself 🤢 😆

Anyway, as I said, my reactions to this scene were almost double, taking into account what Gaurav's circumstance would be.

Scenario 1 - Gaurav IS gay

If you're gay, you're gay. There's nothing that can be done about it, no "pill" that can be taken to "cure" you of it. End of. So in this scenario, I feel very much sorry for Gaurav because even if he wants to keep Vidya happy he can't, because he simply cannot give her what she wants. So Devyani marrying him off to Vidya to hide the truth about his sexuality smacks of cruelty (and not only to him, but I'll come to that in a bit). As a closeted Indian gay man, Gaurav's fear of coming out, even to his own family, and accepting his lover is justified and you can understand why that fear led him to marry Vidya out of helplessness. It doesn't make it right, because what it means is that Vidya will forever be a second thought for him, but it is understandable.

Scenario 2 - Gaurav is NOT gay

If, however, Gaurav is not gay, and is simply in love with another woman, then I have more problems. Whatever the reason that SSP would not approve his lover, the fact of the matter is that Gaurav married Vidya. I presume they didn't actually hold a gun to his head while he was in the mandap. So there is no excuse for his treatment of Vidya. When he said to Devyani, "You never said that I would have to give up my lover", I found myself wanting to smack him. It is implied, you idiot! No matter how much you love your girlfriend, you are married to another woman who is in no way at fault for this. If you don't want her, at least be honest with her and tell her that, so that she stops harbouring false hopes. When he threatened Devyani that he would leave the family home if she tried to force him, the only thought that came to my mind was, "Why didn't you leave before?" Why wait until you are married to issue that kind of ultimatum? If he had left to be with his lover before the wedding, at least Vidya would not have been trapped in a loveless marriage.

And actually, more than Gaurav, I blame Devyani for this. Whatever Gaurav's deal, he made a mistake by following what Devyani said. But I have no doubt that he did it because she was his mother, his only support and probably because she manipulated him into it. I'm sure that, when convincing him to go ahead with the marriage, she must have promised him that he could do whatever he wanted with his lover, and she would keep his secret, as long as he married Vidya.

As much sympathy as I had for Devyani following that scene a few eps ago with Bauji, I simply cannot abide her manipulative ways. She worries for Gaurav's lover when she finds out he/she is in the hospital. She worries for Gaurav, alternately threatening and pleading with him. She worries about SSP and what he would say. Doesn't she worry about Vidya? The poor girl who is following in her footsteps already by learning when and how to lie? You want to lie to your whole family, your own children? Fine, go ahead. But Devyani has lied to both her bahus, two girls who know nothing about their family, their past, their problems, and who are relying on her, as the mother, to guide their way in their new family.

She's constantly lying to Vidya, giving her hints and tips and making her believe that she might be able to get her husband to love her, all the while knowing his situation. Her lie to Priya might be less heinous, since she doesn't know about Priya and (to borrow someone else's hilarious moniker😆 ) sasurpig. But even so, her lies have, to some extent, influenced Priya into accepting Aditya (though its mostly to do with Aditya himself) and when she & Vidya discover the extent to which Devyani has lied to them, they will be heartbroken. To me, this scene reeked of selfishness from both Gaurav and Devyani - he refused to acknowledge a relationship with Vidya and would not leave his lover, and she agreed not to pressure him to do so. Neither of them thought about Vidya.

Which is why I really didn't enjoy that dream sequence with Gaurav and Vidya. Simply because I felt so incredibly sorry for her - all she wants is affection from her husband, and her running around after him, jumping to attention when wants something from her, only served to highlight that. Whether or not Gaurav is gay, Vidya is the ONLY innocent party in this whole scenario. Star-crossed lovers, homosexuality, love, family pressure etc etc - none of it is an excuse for infidelity. Cheating is cheating is cheating and no manner of reasoning can change that. You want to be with someone else? Fine, tell your spouse the truth, divorce them and then move on. To me, cheating is not acceptable and its not even just about the actual act of it. Love, lust or sex, cheating (more specifically, going behind your spouse/lover's back) implies that you don't even respect or like your spouse enough to tell them the truth about why you choose to spend your time with someone else, and that is the biggest insult to me. Plus, doesn't Gaurav realize that he cannot carry on indefinitely in this way? Will he continue to juggle two relationships his whole life? Never be intimate with Vidya, always fobbing her off? Doesn't he realize that it doing so he will become almost exactly like his father??? Now, there are some people in the world who cheat simply because they can, or to prove that they can. It's not about love, or guilt or pressure; it's about power. Sasurpig is one of those men. I'm sure he doesn't have some long-lost love affair that he is desperately trying to hold on to - he is simply the stereotypical narcissist who thinks he can get away with anything. Gaurav is not like that, but still his stance on this makes me feel wronged. He may not actively want to hurt Vidya, but he is doing nothing to stop it. And Devyani, being someone who has been cheated on, how can she not understand and anticipate the pain that she and her son are going to put Vidya through???

Phew. Rant over! 😆 As you can probably tell, I spent more time after this episode thinking about that first scene then I did about Aditya-Priya, which just goes to show how much the whole series involves me so well, and that I'm not just watching it for the luv-shuv ka mamla😆😆

But coming to that:

Priya - Chinu - Aditya

Parts of this sequence worked for me while others did not. Priya's closing her eyes to see Aditya instead of Brahmanand's assault, like she did just the day before, was very abrupt. It seems incredibly hurried to show such a big change of heart within a day's worth of events. What can I say...I am very disappointed at the speed with which this track is moving. How can a character who has gone through something as traumatic as molestation replace that horrific image with that of a guy she is barely falling in love with...so quickly? I did, however, like the touch of having Priya rushing to share this development with her father. [/quote]

I sort of agree and disagree with you here, Jaya. I understand your frustration that it seems abrupt - it is abrupt, but we know that. The whole track is fast-forwarded as we discussed yesterday, and the reasons for it are documented as well. So I'm willing to let things like that be, because at least it is in keeping with the fast-track approach already in place. We know that the only way that Priya will accept Aditya wholeheartedly is if she stops seeing SSP's face whenever she closes her eyes - she has said that. If the creatives want to fast-track the marriage into next week or the week after, we have to have that realization pretty soon. And at least they maintained their continuity and didn't forget about that detail. And as for the part about the molestation - if I am not wrong, it is at least been a year since that incident. I'm not belittling it in any way, but I feel that her replacing of that image is not so strange after such a period of time. If she'd replaced it after four months, we'd have issues. Having said that, yes, it is fast but since we know the creatives are heading this way, I am willing to let things like that be and just slide them under the umbrella of a speedy romance. Also, I like to think that this development doesn't mean that she has completely shed those images and nightmares and is now completely whole again; but simply that for the first time, she has seen something besides her fear. I don't think she is completey over it, but starting to get there.

I also liked Priya rushing to her father's side, waking him up no less, to share with him her thoughts. It shows how close they are and have become over the past little while, and I hope this relationship continues to blossom.

One thing I will say - I do love a show where we can have conversations that aren't just about "oooooooh, how HAAAAAAAAAAWT is he???" and "wow, I loooooooooooooove their chemistry" 😆 Don't get me wrong, I'm all for writing a ten-page essay on Aditya's hotness🤣, but I like that the show, and the people here who watch, analyse and debate on it, can go beyond that.

P.S. Jaya - when you mention that Priya was having images of SSP the day before, did you mean literally? Coz I think I might have missed that scene in all the cuteness😳😕

One thing I forgot to mention in that dissertation up there🤣 was the Uttara-Rishabh scene. Does anyone else feel creeped out by this new "improved" Rishabh? I don't for a second believe that he has truly changed his ways - he might believe that he will never abuse Uttara again, but I don't believe it, and neither does Uttara. Once a wife-abuser, always a wife-abuser, I think...and I feel like this is just the calm before a very scary storm, and the fact that Tara (funny how she didn't seem to want to talk to Uttara - bad relations there) may soon come home seems to me a foreshadowing that something awful is going to happen. Rishabh is either going to kill or be killed, methinks.

Ahhh....food for thought early in the morning...love it! 😊

Pallu/Noorie/Vasu...Hiya ladies! 🤗 Crazy day for me today so just barely scanned through what you wrote...will be back later in the day to read slowly and reply.

Vasu...ahhh....you discussed my favorite couple so well...Gaurav & Vidya. Will respond in greater detail later.

For now...some quick thoughts...😊

About Priya...yeah...she was literally seeing Brahmanand in her mental image an episode or two before while talking to her father. I don't mind her moving on...but I would have preferred the writers not showing this mental image track at all instead of replacing the trauma image with Aditya so quickly. They could have still shown Priya falling for Aditya without it.

Rishabh - Uttara....agree with you. He has not changed. They are in what I call the "calm phase" of the abuse cycle...literally the calm period before the storm or abuse begins again.

Loving all the discussion!

Hello Everyone....🤗

Sorry me is still on and off!! 😆 J, I was waiting for you analysis to be up before I could say my two words yesterday and fell asleep!! 😆

Anyway, like you said I do agree that the Aditya-Priya story is getting rushed. I guess for now thats the meat for the TRPs and it sells like hot cakes! Somehow the scene where she runs to her Dad and says "I can see Aditya instead of SSP", didnt sit well with me. It felt a little forced. It didnt come out naturally. I dont know if it was Ridhi's acting or what?? but something was off!

Two other things that stood out for me was

Devyani-Gaurav scene
- Here, I dont know why but the way Devyani went pleading to Gaurav was in complete contrast to the previous Devyani-Gaurav scene where she restricts him from talking to his lover. Was the change in Devyani's character becuase of the suicide attempt? Did she empathize with Gaurav becuase of that? I personally felt that the story telling went a little off here, coz Devyani has always been portrayed as someone unfaltering in her aim to keep her family and their Maryada intact and that to me suggests someone who is a little more stronger than what she was shown yesterday? All of a sudden, a woman who managed to get her son married to this other girl was begging him to come back home and Gaurav was shown speaking his mind of leaving home! Where was all this when Gaurav was marrying Vidya? Did the situation warrant such a drastic change in emotion in Devyani?? I dont know. But if it did, then Devyani didnt portray her change of feelings well enough and the change makes it look like butchering the character to me.

Gaurav-Vidya scene
. I loved the way Vidya showed her nervousness towards her husbands presence and her uncertainty in her dream sequence. Her disappointment on hearing Gaurav wanting to sleep and asking her to turn off the lights, very well portrayed.

Overall a good episode.

@Psawyer: I agree with you about Devyani's character of lying to everyone. To me that is an inherent part of her. Remember the time when she turns a blind eye to Uttara's beating and calls it an accident. I am not surprised that she didnt tell the truth to Priya. She wants to pull peachy curtains over her family and keep up the pretense of all is well. I am sure Priya's revelation of who is SSP will be one big step towards Devyani finally opening her eyes and mouth!

Hi Jaya, waiting for your analysis 🤗

With the whole image-when-I-close-my-eyes thing, I guess the point is that she will once again start seeing Sasurpig's face when she discovers the link after marriage, so for all that misery that's to come, they are giving us enough romantic fodder to tide us over for a while...that's my theory, anyway😆

Hello Ladies....Jaya....
So Glad to see you here doing a take.
& Very Lovley Take I must say.
You have some wonderful people writing on this post, it was nice to read some of the takes here.
Very Much enjoying the show.
Strenghts for me is the Story line & very Strong actors to act out the well itched out narration.
I am SPECIALLY liking the main protaganist, Adi's charcater so far......
He is full of contradiction.....
On one hand he is shown totally free spirited YET his intensity of ethics & clarity of thoughts is amazing.

I am also enjoying the parallel track of Vidya. I am glad that her Jat hubby is not shown as crude & rude. He is NOT in love with her, but they are not showing his behavior in extremes, like they usually show in most other serials.

Kalyani & her interaction with bauji is very good. he read her like a book & I very much enjoy his bull's eye observation.

I am still initiating into the show, in US we are a week behind but so far I say MAGNIFIQUE!!!

Hi 🤗 Great analysis. @bold - I agree. This is my biggest problem with Devyani, she keeps wavering when it comes to this issue. I guess it is supposed to show her unconditional love for Gaurav, and that actually, had she a choice, she would support him in his relationship, with whoever his lover is. But it seems like everything she does with regards to Gaurav is out of fear, and she is blindly flailing about trying to find a formula that works. Threaten, cajole, plead, cry, accept - whatever she can do to keep Gaurav at home and at least, on the outside, with Vidya, she will. But it irritates me, since she is supposed to be the "strong woman who will take care of her bahus and hide them from sasurpig's bure iraade", that she doesn't even seem to think of the impact this might have on Vidya. She's feeling bad that Gaurav's lover tried to commit suicide? What happens with Vidya finds out the truth and tries the same?

I remember her blatant ignoring of Uttara's bruises, and belittling them, even in private, as if she didn't even want to let the thought enter her head. It worries me that she has gotten so used to this circle of denial and lies that she will actually break down completely if even a tinka of truth tries to break free.

Hi Nupur 🤗 Thanks for your analysis👏 The bit in bold - I totally agree with! You have said in one sentence what I have been trying to say in a few pages😆 I agree, Aditya is impulsive, spontaneous, natkhat, jolly, fun-loving but he is not immature. I think it is a fantastic character and so different to the one-dimensional robots shown elsewhere. I also agree that its great Gaurav isn't ill-treating Vidya, though I'd go so far as to say he isn't "treating" her at all...he mostly ignores her, which isn't exactly helping since she seems to think he's playing hard to get😆

Btw both of you, call me Vasu😳

I don't know about you guys but I seriously can't wait to discuss today's ep, lol!! I hope no one minds if I add my two cents early...?😳 I'm writing this as I'm watching the episode for the first time so these will probably be my raw thoughts and emotions.

1st December

Disclaimer: Let me just start by saying that every comment I make on Aditya Priya from now on is prefaced by the fact that I think their relationship is being rushed and fast-tracked😆 but I have decided simply to accept that as fact and let it go for the purposes of the story. Let's pretend Aditya-Priya have been at this for a year or so😆😉

So, continuing on from yesterday's episode, Priya tells her father that for the first time she saw Aditya instead of bade sahib in her dreams. Like I said yesterday, I love the fact that she went straight to her father to share her innermost secret, and that he accepted it so wholeheartedly and willingly. I'm glad there's no star-crossed lovers angle to this scenario, simply because its such a waste of time and talent. I'm loving the actor who plays Priya's father, he has this cuteness about him that reminds me of countless relatives...sort of like an Indian Santa Claus😆 (Not that Santa is my relative, though how cool for me if that were true!!😆)

I liked that Priya has this urgency to go to Rohtak immediately following her revelation - I don't necessarily think she should go so soon, but I like that there's no hesitation once the decision is made. There's no faffing about in this serial, and particularly in A-P's track; there's no false starts, no dishonesty (aside from the letter issue, but even that was done with a pure heart), no holding back, no playing games. It's refreshing to have a couple that are just normal people not looking for revenge or payback and aren't interested in mind games. I think both Aditya & Priya are well matched in this regard - neither have been shown to shy away from the truth or to be anything other than open. Chhora-chhori are not so different after all!!😆

I liked the Uttara-Rishabh scene, even though I despise the latter. Kamya Punjabi is just freaking awesome 👏 I never watched Dulhan (her previous show) but I saw bits and pieces of Kamya's scenes and thought she was great. I liked the slice of normalcy in U-R's life, even if I still believe it is short-lived. This Rastogi dude is creepy as hell, typical faltoo-type man with a taste for others' wine and women🤢 Rishabh's switching of the "unopened" Scotch as per the last episode made me laugh. Why do I get the feeling that Rastogi is due to feature in more than just today's episode?? Will this be the straw that breaks the camel's (Uttara's) back??? "bhabhi-ji ka swabhav acha lagta hai" - swabhav ya sari, you ghatia aadmi?!🤢

Okay, I can't help myself. Even though I've prefaced this already with my disclaimer, I have to say it again. WHY are they going so freaking fast with Aditya-Priya's love story?!! Why does she HAVE to go and see him today? Can she not wait until his exam is over? Or is she seriously worried that if she doesn't turn up, he will fail his exam and she'll be blamed for it?! I'd like to say I can't imagine that Adi would do something like that....but he just might. But dudes, aag kahan lagi hai?! If you love him today, you will love him tomorrow, so just chill!

Anyway, moving on😆, so the Pradhans lock up and leave - liked that Papa Pradhan made the connection between leaving the house the last time and now, and what a difference it has made. I really hope, even after Priya marries Adi, that this family unit remains intact.

Aditya holding court in the Jhakkar household was too cute! Poor Imli - akkal went to her pati and baby, and she was left with nothing!! I like the fact that Imli and Jaggi are so much a part of this family, as much as anyone else, they have a story and a right to be there. But honest to God, Imli needs to wear some clothes!! What is with the Rakhi Sawant look?! She wears less clothes than Sweety, who is the modern teenager!

Aditya, aaj ka modern majnu psychic😆 (or is that psycho?😆) - he knows everything about Priya before she does! Wah, swamiji, aapki vidya ko salaam!

I am loving the relationship between Aditya and Bauji😳 - Bauji will be Aditya's support when he discovers the truth about Sasurpig, and also that Devyani lied to him for so long. I'm looking forward to Bauji also being Priya's support - seeing the way he is with Devyani...I am sure he will only see a young Devyani in Priya😳

Poor Vidya, still seeking glances from her husband who is more interested in Aditya's jashan (what was that secret look between them?!😆)

By the way, anyone mentioned where Sasurpig is recently??

Ma will always be ma😆 how could Aditya forget a pen on the day of his exam?! 🤣

What is Imli's obsession with Vidya's love life?! Lady, you have countless kids and one more on the way - I think, frankly, Vidya is probably terrified of your help! I must say - I really, really like Jaggi and for him I have tried to like Imli, but I think she needs to be toned down (the character itself, rather than the actress)....she is simply too irritating at this point. She needs a record change, that's for sure. Try being a little less lust-obsessed, and a little more sensitive to Vidya.

The boxing scene was absolutely hilarious 🤣🤣🤣 another case of this show breaking with TV tradition! When has a TV bahu EVER cared more about boxing with her hubby than her expensive sari?!!! Her "punches" (I am being very loose with the term here, Vidya darling) were so cute, like a newborn kitten batting unsuccessfully at a ball of string. Must say I'm surprised at Gaurav decking her, but I guess he thought that was one way to make sure she stays out of the equation! 🤣 And once again, Imli's first thought is the same go away, silly girl, and let the grown ups deal with real relationships. Knocking out a kid every five months is not an indication of a good marriage!

Have to say, I enjoyed today's boxing scene more than yesterday's dream sequence - at last, an example of a love story unfolding slowly. I'm in a dhuvidha - while I want Gaurav to be gay for the purposes of an excellent track, I want him to be straight so that he and Vidya can be together😭 what to do, what to do....no wonder the writers are being so vague on this....if we can't decide, how can they?!

Hai, Aditya😳 What wouldn't I give to have a guy like that? 😍 Even his chunnu-munnu friends can't entice him away from his thoughts about Priya...even till the last second he feels like he can sense her there...and his smile when he sees her...aaah, heaven! I have to say though, I'm almost getting tired of the "Ishq Hai" track, they need to change it or spruce it up slightly...since it plays every time he thinks about her, which is every half second 🤣, I feel like it's at a constant loop in my head 😆. I must say though, Priya was looking especially cute today, must be that mega-watt smile and the sparkle in her eyes. And the pink kameez helped too! 😆

Okay, that twirl was filmy, even for me. Glad Priya didn't fall for it completely and reminded Aditya that his touchy-feely-ness was a little overbearing. And she brought the letter up again, which is twice that the guy has been caught out. He needs to admit to someone that he hasn't read it so that he doesn't end up making a bigger mistake than this. Pyar ke pehle hi din, "sorry"? Yeah, this bodes well...😆

Chinu is Aditya bhaiya's biggest cheerleader 😆 . Don't know what he's expecting to happen by sending Priya on a mission to stay with Aditya and be alone with him for a while...but I guess even Chinu realises how fast everything is happening, and by the way this story is shaping up, he's probably expecting Aditya-Priya to become parents any moment soon!!

Aaah, Sasurpig - there you are! You know, there is an interesting contradiction in this man - he is (apparently) so righteous when it comes to the law and criminals; yet in his personal life he is a...well...pig. I know all about people have double lives, but it's interesting how one moment you're almost rooting for the guy (like the time that guy came to the house to bribe him to letting his son go from jail), and then you suddenly remember, "right! He's a character-less moron!🤢) I also think it was very interesting contrasting the heroic rescue and arrest he is about to make while having Priya standing right there in front of him - like his two halves standing next to each other and competing for space. Is he evil? Is he good? Is he both? A good man with weaknesses, or an evil man with a few good traits? Is he a good father (Aditya) or a bad one (Gaurav)? Is he a bad husband and a good Jija?

I love Vishwajeet Pradhan's portrayal of this guy too - I can't decide what to take him as, and this subtlety is very well portrayed by VP.

So, despite her beliefs, Priya is still terrified of the police, and as I predicted, her flashbacks of SSP have not really gone away. They've been temporarily masked by Aditya, like a plaster over a still-healing wound. But whip the plaster off, and the wound is still there. I'm glad it is, not because I like seeing Priya so upset, but because it's a good antidote to the whole rush-off-and-get-married thing. It shows that yes, the love story is moving fast but the old scars are still there, and despite Priya's bravery, what she feels for Aditya is not yet strong enough to counteract the nightmares. It will be interesting to see her reaction when she connects this man with Aditya. In fact, it will be interesting to see how she deals with Aditya tomorrow - having shown him the greenlight, will she back off again and do the whole hot and cold thing again??
