I was watching the Lakshyagrah episode today and despite very clear hints from Vidur and Bhishma about imminent danger in their travel, he just brushed it off. A good ruler would consider all possibilities and usually opt for one that causes least damage and maximizes benefits for all and since its Yudi, is compliant to dharm. I would have liked him to ponder about the hints and decide rationally. He just saw Kunti emotional and took a rash decision I felt.

Any idea if in the original epic his character was similar to the show's version?

Yudi is so dumb. (No disrespect). He doesn't seem to have any foresight at all. How did he make for a good ruler? And they are really whitewashing Karna a lot in SP.

That's a million dollars question 😆😆 I never understood the supposed greatness in Yudhishthir & why he is touted as the best thing that have ever happened to Hastinapur or even the whole Aryavart 🤔 He is neither the great Dharm gyani he is supposed to be, nor much of an warrior to write home about. To me it always looked like he was just riding on his brothers' hardwork & success, especially Bheem & Arjun.🤔

In those days it was common to send brothers etc at war and the king stayed. Yudhishthir was a good king because he was just. His Dharma and decisions just don’t appeal to our 21st Century sensibilities.

Epic one is not dumb but I don't like him at all. He was not a capable ruler imo. I have my reasons but to sum it all up - he gambled away his kingdom, disrespected his wife and staked her without having thought at all.

Also, he was so obsessed with his dharma raj image he could do anything to protect it. Selfish.

Tell me about it. They dedicated 3 whole episode to that. I actually paused the Hotstar vid to go check how many more episodes they have of him on the deathbed

He was not just dude. Which just ruler put on his kingdom on stake in a gamble? Kingdom isn't his personal property. Did he think about the people living there? He even accepted many of Kaurav gangs' crimes (like Duryodhana feeding poison to Bheem, Duryodhana & co trying to burn them in Lakshagriha etc) to keep peace & maintain his Bhrata Dharm. Even this gambling.... Gambling can never be dharm but he accepted the invitation to maintain his Putra dharm towards his uncle Dhritarashtra. He had his own definition of Dharm & prided himself in being a Dharmik even though it may bring pain to his brothers, his wife & even to his kingdom's common people. How is he just?🤔
