@Anu...the book you recommended Krishna: the God who lived like man has some of the best sakha and sakhi scenes and bonding...so obviously SP has other sources (there are many more including Yajnaseni and POI) to show this friendship between Draupadi and Krishna. People who still question this bonding are probably the ones who think a man and woman can never be friends (like Harry from Harry Met Sally lol)

Now you know why I loved that book 😆. I loved the Radha parts too. Funnily enough Radha element does not get much examination beyond his teenage years.

It's funny you mentioned WHMS. I thought of quoting that in response to the posters who didn't believe that the friendship was there, but then I remembered that H and S got married in the end 😆

Poor Drau though. 5000 years later, people still look at her with a jaundiced eye

Draupadi has always been controversial to people, who have not read the epic properly...
Some people call her characterless bcoz she had 5 husbands...But these people are not aware of the fact that polyandry was prevalent, though uncommon, in those days...
Otherwise, y would her father agree, and y would everyone accept her as the Queen...
Some people question her friendship with Lord Krishna, bocz they cannot believe that a girl and a boy can be friends...
Some people blame her for rejecting Karna, bcoz they cannot take a woman, being so strong and straight-forward...and they don't know, how Pratiloma marriages were looked upon...
Some people say that she was one vile woman, insulting n throwing curses at everyone...But that is not true...She was certainly fiery, but it was not like her hobby...
She got fiery, only when she was attacked, or insulted...
Else, she has a caring side too, which most non-readers of Mahabharat miss out on...
Her softer side comes out, when Arjun goes to do Tapasya of Lord Shiva...
Her softer side comes out when Abhimanyu dies...
Arjun said, "What will say I to Subhadra? How will I look at her? What will I say to Draupadi?"
Why would Arjun speak of not being able to say anything to Draupadi, at Abhimnayu's killing, if they did not have any bond?
Did Arjun mention any other woman? He didn't.
He only mentioned Draupadi, along with Subhadra...And that indicates, that Draupadi loved Abhimanyu a lot...And Arjun knew about it...
If Draupadi was really a vile, heartless, arrogant, snobbish woman who insulted and cursed everyone around, then y would she love her stepson so much?
If Draupadi was so arrogant and snobbish, the y would she start her journey, with an unknown poor Brahmin, rejecting all Kings? She did not know that the Brahmin, she chose was Arjun.
Yet, she agreed to marry him, without any question.
People talk about how she rejected a man for his caste. But it is conveniently overlooked, how she chose a poor Brahmin, instead, unknown of his royal lineage.
Ved Vyas has given these subtle hints, throughout the epic, which only a person, who reads the epic carefully, or has discussions with people who have read it regarding these, would know...
And all those people who haven't bothered to read the epic, just pass comments casually, knowing only about Draupadi's Swamvar, her polyandry, her Vastraharan, and how she died alone in the mountains, and say things like "Draupadi was only a Queen", "The Pandavas did not care about her", "Draupadi and Lord Krishna's friendship is a Star Plus creation", "That is a Karva sach",etc.

@Amrita...we all appreciate and know what a wonderful lady Draupadi was. Why would Krishna care for her if she was not worthy of it? For me, that answers all her critics...as for others who don't understand her, hope they will one day. That's all I can hope for.

I heard Pooja say she is not allowed to dance around while she is Drau. Do you think they could have insisted she be single while she is Drau, too?😲
You know, to maintain the mystique😆

That may explain why she stays away from social media and such, and there are no pictures with (cough) some costars (cough) There is a general idea going around that Indian men like to think of heroines as virgins
