Well looking at Duty's reaction after karna's death I guess it is quite clear that if Duryadhana was emotionally attached with anyone it was karna .. he lost the desire of winning the battle n kind of become disinterested in throne .. even when he had solders like Aswatthama, Kripa at his side .. For me I have no doubt on Duryadhan's friendship at all ..

dury does say after karna's death that victory has no meaning for him now so it does mean karna meant more to him that his victory over pandavas

I too loved the dialogue .. n there are more what Karna told to Sun God n Indra .. it depicts the real Karna .. I love how he takes pride on his human power .. how he doesn't care about any divinity .. here I found similarities with Hector n Achilles both .. in fact he somewhere relates to my another favorite mytho hero Prometheus ..
