Leadnitrate, I have read RM and love its fluid, modern language. But one thing I noticed is that it does tend to novelise things. Hence,we are forced with Author's POV rather than using our own judgement.
I found the author to be Karna Pro in many instants and have painted picture favourably for him.
Just to give one instant.. Fight between Bheema and Karna during Jayadrath Vadh when Bheema beats Karna comprehensively. Duryodhana sacrifices more than 50 of his brothers to save Karna. Karna faces many retreats.
If you read, RM it makes it as inner turmoil, psychological issue of Karna, "enjoying" wins of his dear brother. Every time he loses, it is because he is proud of his bro and facing a dilemma, his eyes welling up with tears. And each time he scores a victory, its because he decided his valor is aroused and he "temporarily" forgets his love for bro.

completely agree here actually KMG is a direct translation hence has no place for emotions .But RM which is tells MB more like a story or devdutt patnaik's jaya who explains character's from his POV add those emotions. In both its stated karna is emotional while fighting his brother's

My review for today

Positives:

1. Draupadi is back in her true Kshatriya woman form. Glad to know the three women would be there on the rannbhoomi to help out. That means an emotional (sob sob) Abhimanyu vadh

2. Gandhari's realization that staying blindfold was her biggest mistake. Also making pranns the center of existence is foolishness.

3. Krishna's presence on the battlefield- he's just so majestic

Negatives:

1. Did Dury really treat Karna this way? As far as I've read, Karna was his lifeline and he never reproached him like that.

2. The mystery behind Shikhandi as the cause for Bheeshma's demise is no longer a mystery. I guess Yudi will not ask Bheeshma how they would be able to kill him.

Questions:

1. Are we going to see the Durga pooja before the war?

2. Is the Gita going to start in 3 days or before that?

On that I could only see one word 'reluctant smile' that Karna did that might match what he said..

Ok to add.. Please dont think I read only KMG.. I have my own favorite book in Tamil which is condensed story telling.. My best part is the author adds his understanding separately by the end of each chapter and does not mix it with the flow of the story.. There has been an instance where one of what I mentioned from my book was different in KMG which I happily accepted.. I was not hurt that the forum does not accept my book..

i dont remeber the karna part will need to check but from what i remember there are differences but not any major ones i was saying mainly from the POV of this serial that its not like if we use RM, characters will suddenly seem something different from KMG or this serial will suddenly feel right or not distorted .Major incidents are not something completely different from KMG .No matter which translation one uses this serial will remain highly distorted .

I agree Sabhaya.. I dont say RM is wrong, distorted or inaccurate.. It has the author's POV added which I dont want to consider as proofs in an argument.. same with Jaya..

From my understanding and reading, here's what I 've concluded: every human being has a quota of sins and virtues. If they sin more then they first go to heaven for their good deeds and then end up in hell for a long time. People who perform more good deeds, first get a glimpse of hell for some of their bad deeds/sins and then settle down in heaven

That's why Dury first had heaven darshan (he had some good qualities for sure- one being dying like a true kshatriya) and then must have rotted in hell afterwards

Similarly, Yudi had a glimpse of hell for his one lie on the battlefield but then later went to heaven

well my understanding is something totally opposite.Yudi rles HP for a good 36 years after the war after that when he goes to heaven he sees dury there

so my understanding always was that dury spent good enough time in hell and once like you mentioned his quota of demerits was over he goes to heaven that is why after many years when yudi goes to heaven he sees dury there

one earth yr cannot be compared to one yr in heaven or hell.
balram's sasur ji spent one danda in brahmalok , only to come back and find two chaturyugas gone by, third is almost edging towards kali, dwapar almost towards end and the only man fit enough for his revati is Kanha's brother balram

Duri was still finishing up his qouta in swarg

That's certainly possible Sabhyata. I didn't take the 36 years into account. That means Dury's good deeds did outdo his bad deeds. Dying as a kshatriya earned him quite a few bonus points😃

@Leadnitrate...I'd like to believe your theory as I feel Dury's bad deeds did indeed outshine his good deeds.😊
