There are so many things in Mahabharat that are symbolic.
The marriage of the Pandavas n Draupadi itself can be interpreted in various ways.
I heard somewhere, that the Pandavas were like the 5 fingers, n Draupadi was the palm. Together, they made a hand. Just like the fingers are connected to each other, via the palm, the Pandavas were united bcoz of Draupadi. Just like a fist is incomplete without the palm, so were the Pandavas without Draupadi. That is y she went with them everywhere, be it vanvaas or mahaprasthaan.

That's a nice interpretation too Amritat😊...that's the beauty of this epic. One can interpret the symbolic themes in multiple ways

Thanks Brishti. I'm sure there are many more themes in this epic that most of us haven't even thought about. Keep adding to the list😃

awww...thanks...the beauty of this epic lies in the fact that every single thing and incident and character are imbued with such layers...the more you read the epic , the more you think abt it , the more one encounters so many interpretations...

its brilliant...

and also mind-blowing as to how any and every kind of story is present in the epic...each and every human emotion--the good and the bad...human greatness and frailties...faults and sins and redemption...boons and curses...dharma and adharma and the precarious balance on which everything runs...its just wonderful...

the more i delve into it the more i fall in love...

truly jo isme hai wo baki sab mein hai jo isme nhin wo kahin nhi...

Very true statements Nikki...that's exactly how I feel these days. I can't get enough of MB and it's versions😊 I feel I need to also read some old Hindu texts now as a lot of the symbolic scenes have their origin in the puranas/Upanishad etc

and you are so right..there are so many things which have their origin in other older texts...its like its a never-ending well of knowledge...

Try the mytho books by devdutt pattnaik. he consolidates lots of puranas, upanishads together in fluid simple language, good read, good explanations.
Often the puranas etc are lot discriminating and conflicting, with each purana giving that God supreme importance over others.
