I thought not to respond here but could not resist after seeing a point. There is a new question: What makes Yudhishthir the great king he was supposed to be?
Please read his beautiful conversation with Sanjay from Udyoga Parva to learn his love for the prajas. A king who had so much love & care for his prajas is lovable in any country at any time, I think.
Ok now that should have hurt you I understand 😳.. My response was not about why Yudishtra is a great king.. it is about why, in the text, he is 'declared' a great king, a saint, a behavioral Brahmin etc.. and I guessed the question was about this.. if not for these declarations within the text, Yudishtira is NOT a plain, simple, soft, kind character.. Udyoga parva praises of Sanjaya contradict the dyut sabha staking of his praja doesnt it?
ok now in a language you might best understand.. Several times, several characters including Yudishtira call Karna as the one who never retreated from the warfield.. should I go with these words or the narrations where Karna does retreat? Latter isnt it?
