Purity factor was Shalva's excuse. Bhishma nd Vichitravirya did not raise that issue.

Just wondering - if Bhishma Amba union happened, would their son have ascended throne or Vichitravirya's son?

Vichitravirya's niyoga son.. if Bheeshma is not ready to break his first promise also.. if purity issue was not brought in by Vichi, why dint Bheeshma get her married to him after she returned? Vichi refusing her is no where mentioned.. may be something is missing..

Vichitraviryya refused to marry Amba, I had posted Rajaji translated citation previous page
She returned to Hastinapura and told Bhishma of what had taken place. The grandsire tried to induce Vichitravirya to marry her. But Vichitravirya roundly refused to marry a maiden whose heart had already been given to another.
Bhishma's oah taking clause was he would forgo the throne by remaining celibate/not marrying, so no question of breaking his oath

Rajaji's is an interpretation/retelling.. there are many inaccuracies when compared to translations.. I know this is different version thread but still .. i'd be happy to be corrected if a translation supports..

Rajaji's retelling has inaccuracies like? His work is mainly based on Dakshinatya , which is independent of northern recension, but also used 21 recensions , combining both north and south recensions .
Rajaji's mbh has clear words on Amba issue; KMG doesn't have it.

'Returned to Hastinapur' - So this must be after she was permitted to visit Shalva post-abduction, and after Shalva refused her.

inaccuracies like divine babies of Kunti Madri were born the same day.. they dint live in the womb for 9 months.. and it is more of a condensed version than a translation..

Really? You mean all 3 born together like triplets? Weird!
As for 9 months controversy it must be because they insist on their celestial mode of birth.

Serials also show it that way 😆 of course Madri has children after Kunti's; babies gifted as soon as mantra recitation ends 😛😆
But Amba episode is explained well in Dakshinatya and Rajaji's retelling and yes, Amaba returns to Hastinapur after Shalva refuses to marry and Bhishma tries to persuade Vichitravirya, but in vain
Dakshinatya often suffers calumny as inflated version but a CE on Dakshinatya is in the making so lets see how Southern CE deals with it, till then case pending! 😉😆
