EXACTLY!! I have always liked Arjun since I watched the BRC version as a kid and then read MB when I was older but I have many people around me who are HUGE fans of Karan and for many reasons I just cannot seem to get myself to like him. And however much ANYONE says anything bad about Arjun will not really change my mind about him; neither will it change my POV on Karan. This is just an example.

Similarly, i too dislike Duri and like Bhim and Ajaya had me going "AS IF" and "what the..." every step of the way. My opinion on Duri and Bhim has not changed an ounce after reading that book. But the point is that I gave the book and the author a chance.

POI is another book which had me going..what the..

However, once I understood that both these authors had their own opinion and their own way of seeing things and that was not necessarily what it was like because clearly none of these authors were there when MB was happening, it was easy for me to pass it off as fiction and move on.

The point is read everything, watch everything, sif through it and decide what you want to keep with you and what you want to take with a pinch of salt.

Anyways, like Sona says its akin to banging my head against a wall trying to bring an ounce of positivity to this forum.

I wish GG would return but she's gone

Actually, as i stated before, Indo MB was compiled in 4th century and has been developed in the 11th by the javanese King at that time.
Through trade route, it reached there at most 1 century BCE.
That is, like before than many indian compilations.

Interestingly, The Indo MB agrees with a lot of events that are told in Karlala MB, the Tamil and Rajasthan ones.
Like, Karna failing in the Swayamvara.

It is the English translation of the critical edition/Poona edition compiled by the Bhandarkar Institute in Pune. It differs from he KMG translation in some respects.

I have heard that the critical edition does not have the episode of Draupadi rejecting Karna by calling him a 'sutaputra'. Instead, he fails in performing the task.

If this is true, then it adds further to Karna's misdeeds, as he had no excuse to participate in Draupadi's vastraharan.

In Indonesian MB, he misses the target by some inches and the Tamil Vyas MB stating Karna unable to tie the string to the bow and hurting his head whereas in Kerala MB, he simply fails along with Jarasandh, Shishupal and Shalya.

Well if they are following indonesian mb then i wish they follow the more intresting things as well
like gandhari bathing in kunti's blood or supposed to be blood
Yudi/Bheema winning Drau' swayambar
Arjuna never marrying Drau but marrying shikhandini
And yes my fav Arjuna and Dury fighting against krishna ji
I want to see these intresting things as well if they are following indonesian MB
unfortunately they are following a 'kichdi'.They find our Indian MB boring but Indonesian MB does sound intresting but then they should show all these events as well and not pick choose what they like and what they dont like in other words atleast indonesian MB they should follow fully i would love to see the above events😆😆

But even I pick and choose what i want to believe from different versions I have read.
There are things about Jaya I love so I keep them with me; things about PoI I like and so those stay with me, things I like in Arjuna, the pregnant king, etc. You get the gist. If the CVs do not like EVERY single event in the Indonesian Mb then they have full rights to ignore those and take bits they like. it is THEIR show. And they are getting the TRPs required.

harsh truth: TEN people on a forum acting like a high school clique where anyone who has a different POV is chased off is not going to change the CVs screenplay. This does not mean the entire Indian diasphora is rejecting MB. It is getting the desired TRPs and is top 5. As it is last week they were shooting scenes from Dwarka with Subhi and Arjun so they are quite far ahead to what they are showing.

I just fail to understand why it is still being watched if people find it that bad; there are numerous other options on tv at the same timeslot

And I do not mean to be rude but man I can take only so much negativity

And why only Bheema even yudi is potrayed as an opportunist who manipulated Dury a peron who just pretends to be good but actually is two faced.Even Bhishma is potrayed as some one who killed Gandhari' entire family in war abdcuted her and foreced her to marry Dhrit and was about to kill shakuni a a child but refrained from it.Arjuna is potrayed as some one who is always jealous of karna and actually sabotages his attempt to win Drau's swyambar. So for me this is only entertainment and nothing more

Usually I finish off any book i read pretty soon but this is taking a lot of time for me, may be the facts are not digestible for me or the way i am approaching this book is not right. But now I am going to consider this as just another fiction on Mahabharat.. without taking it too personally.

@bold: Am yet to go into the book to see all of these.. but Bheema's portrayal hit me hard since he is my favorite character 😳 i could not stop myself from taking it personally 😆. But I'll go with you and read this for purly entertainment.

I understand what you are trying to say IMO book and serial are two totally different things. If you consider - in around 100 people only 30% of them would have read or would consider reading Mahabharat or books related to that but around 70% of them will watch the serial. So I think serial makers have lots of responsibility than authors have...so I really feel they should try to make it agreeable to at least some extent rather than making whole of it as fictional.
For example here giving more importance to just one character, sometimes changing the whole characters or the plot itself to match today's standard of living, adding useless plots is something not right. In a way they are confusing people.
