So far, the flow had been going on events in Hastinapur, up to Drupada's defeat. Now, this is probably the time Krishna's wars w/ Jarasandha were still on, so by showing Kalyavan now, they've got the time frame right, even if showing Subhadra & Arjun w/ him is bakwas.

However, if the CVs wanted to move from Hastinapur to Mathura/Dwarka, would that have sustained the interest of people here? Or would it be a case of missing Shaheer/Arav/Aham et al and enjoying SRJ/Pallavi? In other words, if they show Krishna's story in MB - including the part that's not in it, like these events, would that retain your interest?

Note that in the MB, Krishna first appears @ Draupadi's swayamvara. In SB, Krishna & Balarama are on their way to Hastinapur after Saytabhama's marriage, and they hear about the house of lac. Balarama accompanies Duryodhan to Mithila & teaches him there, while Satyabhama's father Satrajit is murdered, and Satyabhama comes to Krishna for justice, and he goes after Satadhandva, Kritavarma & Akrura. In other words, it's a hit & miss, but at least, SB puts a reference b/w events in Hastinapur & Dwarka.

Arjun is in no way involved in Krishna's first 3 marriages, but he did help Krishna get Kalindi. He was there to help Krishna take away Satya, and he lost to Krishna in Lakshmanaa's swayamvara, which was almost identical to Draupadi's, except that the fish couldn't be directly seen.

how did arjun lost?can u tell me the story?

The contest was similar to Draupadi's, except that Arjun missed the target

SB 10.83.17: Sri Lakshmana said: O Queen, I repeatedly heard Narada Muni glorify the appearances and activities of Acyuta, and thus my heart also became attached to that Lord, Mukunda. Indeed, even Goddess Padmahasta chose Him as her husband after careful consideration, rejecting the great demigods who rule various planets.

SB 10.83.18: My father, Brihatsena, was by nature compassionate to his daughter, and knowing how I felt, O saintly lady, he arranged to fulfill my desire.

SB 10.83.19: Just as a fish was used as a target in your svayam-vara ceremony, O Queen, to assure that you would obtain Arjuna as your husband, so a fish was also used in my ceremony. In my case, however, it was concealed on all sides, and only its reflection could be seen in a pot of water below.

SB 10.83.20: Hearing of this, thousands of kings expert in shooting arrows and in wielding other weapons converged from all directions on my father's city, accompanied by their military teachers.

SB 10.83.21: My father properly honored each king according to his strength and seniority. Then those whose minds were fixed on me took up the bow and arrow and one by one tried to pierce the target in the midst of the assembly.

SB 10.83.22: Some of them picked up the bow but could not string it, and so they threw it aside in frustration. Some managed to pull the bowstring toward the tip of the bow, only to have the bow spring back and knock them to the ground.

SB 10.83.23: A few heroes -- namely Jarasandha, Sisupala, Bhima, Duryodhana, Karna and the King of Ambashtha -- succeeded in stringing the bow, but none of them could find the target.

SB 10.83.24: Then Arjuna looked at the reflection of the fish in the water and determined its position. When he carefully shot his arrow at it, however, he did not pierce the target but merely grazed it.

SB 10.83.25-26: After all the arrogant kings had given up, their pride broken, the Supreme Personality of Godhead picked up the bow, easily strung it and then fixed His arrow upon it. As the sun stood in the constellation Abhijit, He looked at the fish in the water only once and then pierced it with the arrow, knocking it to the ground.

SB 10.83.27: Kettledrums resounded in the sky, and on the earth people shouted "Jaya! Jaya!" Overjoyed, demigods showered flowers.

Not about missing fav actors.. always anything that begins and ends without involving the Kuru Clan always seem out of scope for me.. look back to show how a boon or curse was got etc is fine.. but a different story line, has not interested me.. have skipped those episodes in BRC version..

^^^ That's interesting. I've always thought of Mahabharata & SB as 2 parts of the same story. Sometimes, the 2 contradict each other (which is really seen in the accounts of Krishna's war w/ Shalva and the destruction of the Yadavas), and sometimes they complement them, w/ one having a description of events that are not there in the other.

Like in SB, there is no mention of a swayamvara for Devaki & any fights over her. But in MB, Vasudev's friend Sini battles Dhritarashtra's uncle Somadatta over who will marry her, and that enmity continues into the Satyaki-Bhurishrava fight.

Similarly, in MB, there is no mention of Duryodhan's daughter, but in SB, he has a daughter named Lakshmanaa, who is abducted by Jambavati's son Samba @ her swayamvara. This was the incident where Balarama uproots Hastinapur w/ his plow and sets it afloat in the middle of the Ganga.

Somehow, I've never liked either one w/o the other. One thing I liked about Ramanand Sagar's SK was that after Draupadi's vastraharan, the story goes completely Mahabharata, and Mahabharata only ends after the deaths of Dhritarashtra, Gandhari & Kunti. I was hoping that DBSK too would be a fused story of Krishna & the Mahabharata, but that didn't happen. I am longing for the day when there will be an authentic mega serial about everything that happened in both Krishna & Mahabharata, taking credible accounts of either whenever there are conflicts.

Yes though I understand that MB & SB are very much interconnected.. MB only has been fed to me so far via TV and media.. so this 'Let me concentrate on my family' feeling is sitting top of my head.. 😃

Vrish. I am a writer. I have completed writing my first novel.

It is actually my ambition to make Mahabharat one day. (I have even started plotting the episodes for it).

I will have you and Varaali on my CV team!

Manojie

You can check out my FF here

While I made up whatever I felt like (much like CVs anytime), I stitch together events from Krishna's life w/ that of the Kurus to make it one contiguous story. If one wants to be authentic, one can follow the same model.

If you wish to discuss my story, feel free to do it in that thread.

It's a good idea to do 2 things separately. One is show a combined Mahabharata-Krishna story - an authentic Vyasa original, but sanitizing the places where there are conflicts b/w the 2. Another is to have another version that is a collection of all the folk tales woven around the epic - be it the torture of Shakuni's family, the story of Draupadi & the raspberry tree, Karna playing dice w/ Bhanumati or whatever.
