Arjun was Krishna's "Sakha".

He was given Virat Swaroop Darshan because he alone had the power to win the war of Kurukshetra.

Arjuna is imperfect though he is a great warrior. In geeta first chapter Arjuna asks Krishna to take him to the kaurava sena with pride and wants to show his veerata.

Here he is a human with lot of ego and after he sees all the relatives, bheeshma and drona and all kauravas he becomes emotional and wants to leave the battle field.

Typically we humans behave the same way like Arjuna , when situations are in our favour we show pride when not we weep or try to escape . And he is nara and Narayana chose him to pass the ultimate truth to the man kind.

Arjuna always thought Krishna as mentor . By teaching the gita gyan to arjuna Krishna fulfilled the guru shishya relation .
