Shikhandini may not have been the eldest - it may well have been Satyajit, since Satyajit & Vrika were the ones who fought the Kurus when they went to capture Drupada. Shikhandini may still have been an unmarried female prince (sorry, I can't think of another term for a girl who's raised to be a man, to the extent of being prepared for marriage to another princess), and may have been amongst the womenfolk helping deck Draupadi for marriage. After Draupadi's marriage, Shikhandini's marriage to the daughter of Hiranyavarma would have happened, and then her subsequent transformation into a man.

But by then, Drupada's favorite son was Dhrishtadyumna, since he was destined to kill Drona. I dunno whether Dhrishtadyumna was yuvraj - Drupada may have replaced Satyajit, or he may have retained that status quo. Drupada must have been thrilled @ Dhrishtadyumna becoming the Pandava senapati, over all his other sons & himself. Of course, after the war, the point was moot, since they were all dead.

KMG directly says that, while the ACK rendering of it qualifies his statement by saying that in her 'heart of hearts', she was partial to Arjun.

Only case I can think of - when Arjun returned from exile, she was miffed @ him for marrying 3 wives while away from her, which is why Subhadra had to put on that milkmaid act. She is not known to have reacted negatively towards Yudisthir marrying Devika, Bhima Valandhara, Nakula Karenamati or Sahadev Jarasandha's daughter or Vijaya.

The thing w/ polygamous i.e. polygynous (many wives) and polyandrous (many hubbies) marriages is that the husbands are expected to support all their wives, regardless of who they are physically satisfying @ any time. In other words, other wives can't be left to hang dry (like Uloopi was by Arjun). Similarly, the multiple wives would be expected to support their common husband.

Actually, had they distorted that as well, it would have been easier to distance oneself from the notion that what they are showing is 'Mahabharata'.

Btw, tell your dad that Yuyutsu's mom wasn't Sukhda - it was one of Dhritarashtra's unnamed maids, not Gandhari's. So there's the exception that proves his rule 😆

Where was Drupad's wife in all this mele? How could a man sit without his wife in putrakaami yajna? She was summoned by Rishis when the yajna was about to start but she did not turn up since her ablutions were not over.

All other Pandavas gave more importance to Draupadi than their respective wives. Arjun was exceptional, he seemed to love Chitrangada and later Subhadra more than Draupadi. This irked her.😉

well if Drupad's wife was there while Drupad was having a rage attack over having a daughter, modern day Indian drama dictates that the wife will do two things: a) yell at the husband, b) leave the house ... adding this particular scene would have just confirmed with the public (well all those doting fans of SP's MB) that this is nothing like the real MB, much less a fit interpretation.

While Draupadi was the center of Bhima's attention since the game of dice, I think that he too preferred his 3rd wife - Valandhara. In fact, it was he who sought her out - he approached her father, the ruler of Kashi, entertained him w/ his wrestling and offered his strength in his services in return for his daughter. So Valandhara married Bhima, and they had a son Sarvaga.

Of course, that may have just been the case for the 36 years that Yudisthir ruled Indraprastha, b4 the game of dice separated them until the war.

Drupad was childless when he penanced for a son to kill Bheeshma. So Sikhandini was the eldest. In the Dronadakshina war if Satyajit and Vrika were old enough to fight the war, the Shikhandin would have been old enough to get married too.. Why was there no Sikhandin in the war as she was known as a prince to the world?

Drishi being Drupad's fav son is something acceptable for him to lead the Swayamvar. 👍🏼
