The Brahmacharya Ashram starts from today.. An ok episode for me.. It showed the extent of love Dhrid had for Duryodhan. The message from Lord Krishna that it is what the mother and father think that becomes either a gun or something bad in the children is true..
Dhridhrashtra found that Duryodhan had taken his words and given his own meaning to that by wanting to completely destroy anyone who comes in the way of what he considers is his right, the throne to Hastinapur.
It is very telling that while Dhrid was certainly surprised and maybe a tad shocked about what Duryodhan was telling, but he did not actually correct Duryodhan. Nor did he say that Duryodhan was wrong. His parting with tears and anguish is a proof of the fact that while Dhrid certainly did not voice the words about the Pandavas, somewhere deep inside he surely would have wished that they were not there..
The Pandavas are still Pandu Putr to Dhridhrashtra.. That is really a pity. The one part I felt was the part where Yudhistir stands there watching Dhrid's emotions for Duryodhan. Compare this with what Dhrid showed for Yudhistir and you can see the longing in Yudhistir to have a father figure.😭 I felt really sorry for Yudhistir today. He had to grow up to be a man too soon and he had to be the man his father wanted him to be.. He had to be a man who could be King and this guy never really had a proper childhood without responsibilities. Sad that.. Maybe if Yudhistir really had some time to be a boy before he had become a man, he would have been a little bit different..😊
Now to the most melodramatic part.. The dahi aur shakkar.. Ok.. I get the need for some emotional scenes.. But this was a little too much.. The children who start their Brahmacharya ashram usually have their hair shaved off. Their upanayanam is done and from then on, they have to get alms for their food. No Dahi and shakkar for them.
For a better example, I think the old Ramayana did it right when Ram and his brothers start for their gurukul. This one was just way too serialized.. Especially the Arjun running back and hugging Kunthi. Sorry, I just did not feel anything after the way it was done.
Other than that, it was an ok.. BTW, was it Aswatama sleeping in the tent. Duryodhan will have a shock when he comes to know that he is not going to get comfy beds and servants to bid his doing at every beck and call😆
So now the princes have embarked on the journey towards enlightenment. Both Duryodhan and Yudhistir will be in the running for the throne and only one would really come back equipped to be a truly good king. Yudhistir would come back learned and wise while Duryodhan would be back to just get the throne. There is a major difference between wanting something and actually deserving it. Duryodhan never did deserve that throne he would get.😊
