In DkDM, AAS once did a detailed analysis of the relationships b/w the deities, that threw up some strange relationships b/w Mahadev & himself 😆 I'm doing a similar exercise here, using only the devas who fathered the Pandavas, as well as Kunti & Madri. The relationships b/w Pandu & himself will be just as amusing. One disclaimer - forget the niyoga rules where all the fathers are independent, and have no relationship to each other via the sons

First, Kunti gave birth to sons from Surya & Indra - Karna & Arjun. Those 2 were her sons.

However, Kunti also gave birth to sons from Yama & the Ashwins. Now, all 3 of them were sons of Surya/Sanjana - the latter 2 being born of her while she was in a mare form. So these 3 devas were brothers of Karna, & cousins of Arjun. 😆

So while Yudhisthir was recognized as the elder brother of Arjun and Nakul/Sahadev his younger brothers, they actually were nephews of Karna, & 2nd nephews of Arjun 😆

Now, Madri was the mother of Nakul/Sahadev, while Kunti was the mother of Karna. As a result, Kunti would be an aunt of Madri 😆

Doing the same analysis b/w Madri, and Kunti as Yudhisthir's mom, Kunti & Madri would be sautans (co-wives, so to speak) of Surya.

As a result, Pandu, as Kunti's husband, would be the uncle of Pandu, as Madri's husband.

Also, Pandu, as Arjun's father, would again be the uncle of Pandu, father of Yudhisthir, Nakul & Sahadev.

Kunti would be a bahu - sort of - to Surya, as a result of getting sons from Yamaraj & the Ashwins. She'd also be his wife - sort of - as a result of Karna. As a result, Kunti would be her own saasuma 🤣

Poor Pandu - what a mess he got into 😆 But lucky Vayu - he seems to emerge unscathed, unless he's the brother of Surya & Indra.

So as per Pandu's instructions, Kunti invoked Vayu, and got Bhima/Vrikodara from him. Pandu was overjoyed.

A few days later, Kunti was sitting near the edge of a cliff, Bhima on her lap, when suddenly, she heard the roar of a tiger. Startled, she got up, and Bhima fell down & landed on a rock. The rock was shattered by his fall, but Bhima started crying.

Pandu was surprised by the rock being shattered, and pondered on it, while Kunti ran, picked up the still wailing Bhima, and came back. When she came back, Madri taunted her for proving what a careless mother she was 😈

M: This is how you take care of your newborn, jiji?

K: I'm sorry, but it happened so suddenly! I heard this tiger...

M: And I guess you Yadus are so scared of tigers, since you don't like hunting

K: Well, your last suggestion to Arya to hunt has landed us in this fine mess, where I have to ask others for sons that he ought to be procreating in us

M: Well, at least we would have made those tiger skins a fine rug for our dear Yudhisthir & Bhima to play on

P: Did anybody not notice how strong Bhima is - shattering that rock that he landed on? I was afraid that he'd get killed

Pandu had by this time sat down to eat w/ Yudhisthir, but Bhima was still wailing. Kunti & Madri, after serving them, joined them. Pandu started eating, but then Bhima started wanting the food, so Pandu fed him, and soon, his plate was empty.

Kunti then handed over her entire food to Pandu, so that he could eat. But chhota Bhima's appetite was far from done, and he gulped that down as well.

Madri thought - what a glutton, but couldn't bear the thought of her beloved Arya going hungry, so handed over her food to him. But, as you can guess, Bhima wanted that as well, and Pandu, still feeling guilty about his fall, couldn't refuse him that either. So soon enough, Pandu's plate was empty a third time.

Yudhisthir was still eating - he was a tremendously slow eater. Kunti was hoping that he'd finish b4 Bhima turned his attention to him, but no such luck. Soon Bhima started staring @ Yudhisthir's plate and roaring @ the sight of the food, to which Yudhisthir started handing morsels to him. Kunti tried to stop him, but that only provoked wails from Bhima, which were unstoppable. Finally, PKM all gave up, and let Yudhisthir feed Bhima his entire plate.

Their meal complete, Bhima happily went to sleep in Pandu's lap 😈😆

Basically Pandu and Kunti find out that Baby Bhima requires extraordinary amounts of milk to keep him satiated.

Since it was becoming impossible for Pandu to keeping begging for milk from neighbours, they decide to buy a cow- to ensure continuous supply of milk.

But the problem was since all the three were bred in royal palaces, they had no idea about the 'facts of life'- birds and bees...stuff like that. So while they managed to catch hold of a cow, they had no clue why it was not yielding any milk.

Until a neighbouring rish-patni told them that a cow can't give milk until it had a calf and it cannot have a calf until...the rishi patni blushed.

So now the search began for a bull for the cow to mate with.

Pandu thoroughly fed up with all the animal husbandry work thrust upon him gave up and flopped down on the mat in his hut. Baby Bhima was, as usual, crying lustily.

Kunti asked "Swami...how do we get a calf?

Pandu : "Kunti... I have no idea how we got our children in the first place, how do you expect me to know how calves are born?"

Kunti got a brainwave. She went to their cow which was placidly chewing some hay. She caught hold of its ear and whispered the Durvasa Mantra, all the time thinking of Nandi, Shiva's bull. The cow mooed obligingly.

The mantra worked and Nandi stood in front of them, and blessed the cow and Lo Behold, there was calf beside the cow.

Things were rather topsy turvy in heaven. For the past two years, Yama had been attending his court proceedings only intermittently, there had been no hurricanes or typhoons on Earth in the past year and now, for the past nine months, there had been no rains.

Vishnu summoned the trio of Devas- Dharma, Vayu and Indra and questioned them, why they were neglecting their duties.

"Parental responsibilities, Lord" replied Dharma.

"I know Kunti summoned you to give her a child- but that should not have taken you more than a minute" questioned Vishnu

Dharma snorted. "So you think, Lord. Pregnancies on Earth are a lot more complicated. What do you think I have been doing? Accompanying Kunti during her monthly checkups, ante- natal classes, then childbirth classes, yoga classes to teach breathing during labour...whew" Dharma mopped his brow, recollecting.

Vishnu opened his eyes wide mentally thinking how lucky he was to have escaped all this during Luv- Kush's births.

"So, it is all over, now that Yudhishthira is born, Why aren't you back to work?" asked Vishnu

Vayu retorted "Ha...then comes all the vaccinations / innoculations for the baby , post natal classes for the mother, dealing with post- partum depression... I tell you I have been really busy...whew" Vayu sighed

Vishnu was dumbstruck. Indra moved forwards and handed Vishnu a slip of paper and turning around, fled from the scene.

Vishnu looked at the paper. Indra had just applied for paternity leave.
