Ya, on the Pasupatastra...
Arjuna had gone to the forest to do penance, and fought Mahadev as a Kirata and got his blessings and all that.. and received Pasupatastra.

Now, in the War, we see that in Arjuna's dream Krishna takes him to Shiva and they receive the Pasupata from him..

My question is, where did the first Pas. Astra go???

Apart from the above, the Narayana-astra and the Vaishnava astra were used by Baghaduta and Aswathama respectively. Karna used the Amogha -astra to kill Ghatotghach.

Flip that. Bhagadatta used the Vaishnavastra against Arjun, to which Krishna got up & intercepted it, & it became a garland around his neck. Ashwatthama used the Narayanastra against the Pandava army following the death of Drona to wipe out everybody, and Krishna taught them on the spot that the only way to quell it was to surrender b4 it. Everybody but Bhima did, so the astra then focussed on him. Krishna & Arjun managed to subdue him, and the astra finally petered out.

I didn't know that Drona used the Brahmastra against Yudisthir on day 14. How did Yudisthir get saved from that one?

I thought that the first time, Arjun had gotten an entire collection of weapons from Mahadev, not the Pasupatastra

The astra which Karna otained from Indra was the Amogha Astra- with which he eventually killed Ghatoghach.

Pashupatastra, as Vrish, mentioned, was used by Arjuna to kill Jayadrath. On the night of Abhimanyu's death, when Arjuna had taken a vow to kill Jayadrath by the sunset of the next day, he had a strange dream. In the dream he saw himself and Krishna travelling upto Kailash where they had darshan of Lord Shiva and Gauri. Lord Shiva then asked Arjuna to fetch the Pashupatastra from a nearby lake which Arjuna did and Lord Shiva also taught the mantra for the same. It was with this astra that Arjuna killed Jayadrath,

Some of the occasions in which the Brahmastra was used:

On Day 12 when Arjuna killed hundreds of Shamshaptakas using th Brahmastra.

On Day 14, Drona used the Brahmastra against Yudhishthira

On Day 15 Drona used the Brahmastra against Arjuna who replied back with the same missile

Later that same day, after Drona had been killed, an engraged Ashwathama used the Agneyastra against the Pandavas. Arjuna used the Brahmastra to subdue the Agneyastra.

On Day 17, Arjuna used the Brahmastra to counter Karna's arrows.

But as per below what i have read Arjun only used a simple arrow to kill jaydratha how can any one use Pashupastra without causing a world wide destruction
Regarding Brahamastra you may be right but then again these are such destructive weapons

Then, there was darkness and the cry went round in both armies: "It is sunset and Jayadratha has not been killed. Arjuna has lost." The Pandavas were depressed and there were shouts of joy in the Kaurava army.Jayadratha turned to the western horizon and thought within himself, "I am saved!" for he did not see the sun then and thought the time-limit of danger from Arjuna was over.

At that moment, however, Krishna said to Arjuna: "Dhananjaya, the Sindhu raja is looking at the horizon. I have caused this darkness. The sun is still up and has not set. Do your work. This is the moment for it, for Jayadratha is off his guard."A shaft flew from the Gandiva bow, and, like a vulture swooping down on a chicken, carried away Jayadratha's head. "Listen, Arjuna," cried Krishna, "send your shafts in swift relays, so that the head may be supported from falling to the earth and borne into Vriddhakshatra's lap."

And Arjuna sent his wonderful arrows that carried away the head in the air. It was a strange sight. Vriddhakshatra was in his ashrama sitting in the open absorbed in his evening meditation with eyes closed, when his son's head with beautiful black hair and golden earrings gently dropped into his lap.

^^^ Sabhyata-
On the night of Abhimanyu's death, after Arjuna had taken the vow to kill Jayadrath by the close of the next day, Arjuna in his dream travelled to Kailash where Mahadev gave him the Pashupatastra.

Logically it would seem that Arjuna used it kill Jayadrath.

But in the MB it is not mentioned specifically. This is what the MB has to say

Dhananjaya, licking the corners of his mouth, quickly shot that arrow which he had taken up for Jayadratha's slaughter, that arrow, viz., whose touch resembled that of Indra's thunder, which was inspired with mantras and converted into a celestial weapon, which was capable of bearing any strain, and which had always been worshipped with incense and garlands. That shaft, sped from Gandiva, coursing swiftly, snatched Jayadratha's head away, like a hawk snatching away a smaller bird from the top of a tree.

Hmm ya that is what i was thinking that its not mentioned clealry in MB that pashupastra was used.Beucase as per me pashupastra is like a nuclear weapon one cant use it without causing world wide destruction. Also for Brahamastra its also a deadly weapon i used to think that only Brahamdanda can neutralize it.I know you mentioned ACK in the above post is this mentioned in MB as well that Brahamastra as used by drona gainst yudhishtir.please let me knwo if you know i cant find the reference.Do you know which parva it is mentioned in?

Quoting from the MB (Drona Parva)

Yudhishthira began to despatch to the regions of Yama the Amvashthas, the Malavas, the brave Trigartas and the Sivis. And cutting off the Abhishahas, the Surasenas, the Valhikas, and the Vasatis, he caused the earth to be miry with flesh and blood. And he also despatched within a trice, by means of many shafts, to Yama's domains, the Yaudheyas, the Malavas, and large numbers, O king, of the Madrakas. Then a loud uproar arose in the vicinity of Yudhishthira's car, amid which was heard, 'Slay', Seize', 'Capture', Pierce', Cut into pieces'! Beholding him thus slaying and routing thy troops, Drona, urged on by thy son, shrouded Yudhishthira with showers of shafts. Drona filled with great wrath, struck Yudhishthira with the Vayavya weapon. The son of Pandu, however, baffled that celestial weapon with a similar weapon of his own. Seeing his weapon baffled, the son of Bharadwaja, filled with great wrath and desirous of slaying the son of Pandu, sped at Yudhishthira diverse celestial weapons such as the Varuna, the Yamya, the Agneya, the Tvashtra, and the Savitra. The mighty-armed Pandava, however, conversant with morality, fearlessly baffled all those weapons of the Pot-born that were hurled or in course of being hurled at him. Then the Pot-born, striving to accomplish his vow and desirous also for thy son's good, to slay the son of Dharma, invoked into existence, O Bharata, the Aindra and the Prajapatya weapons. Then that foremost one of Kuru's race, Yudhishthira, of the gait of the elephant or the lion, of broad chest and large and red eyes, and endued with energy scarcely inferior (to that of Drona) invoked into existence the Mahendra weapon. With that he baffled the weapon of Drona. Seeing all his weapons baffled, Drona, filled with wrath and desirous of accomplishing the destruction of Yudhishthira, invoked into existence the Brahma weapon. Enveloped as we then were by a thick gloom, we could not observe what passed. All creatures also, O monarch, were filled with great fright. Beholding the Brahma weapon uplifted, Kunti's son, Yudhishthira, O king, baffled it with a Brahma weapon of his own. Then, all the foremost warriors applauded those two bulls among men, viz., Drona and Yudhishthira, those great bowmen acquainted with every mode of warfare.

If Yudhisthir could counteract Drona's Brahmastras, then how could Drona have been good enough to capture him, that w/o Abhimanyu breaking the chakravyuha, or the next day, in Arjun's absence, Yudisthir risked getting captured by Drona? Something doesn't look right here

Hi guys!

I have a query: Is Priyamvada present in Ved Vyas', or other versions of Mahabharat, or is she a figment of Star Plus Puran? 😆
