not any specific instances, but the mutual antagonism was there between the elders (bhishma, drona, vidur) and karna. both sides considered each other to be ill-wisher of duri. many dialogues are there in KMG regarding their opposing advices to duri and subsequent arguments between them.

I would like to know...was it something Yudhishtir did under pressure? Where did the bright idea come from? Was Draupadi prompted by the Kauravas for Yudhistir to bet on?
I was under assumption he did out of desperation. Like a one last final attempt!
Can someone clarify?

I think Star Plus portrayal of the dice game gives logic to the reason why Yudhishtir is still called Dharmaraj even after the game. If Yudhishtir , out of desperation bet his wife and his brothers, how can he be called Dharmaraj?
Some old movies and TV shows created this distorted view of Mahabharat by showing Yudhishtir recklessly betting his brothers and wife! That is not at all true. He is called Dharmaraj because he always followed Dharma and never did anything wrong (and he was never addicted to the dice game either..that is another misconception) Star Plus Mahabharat clarified all the misconceptions and took the time to explain the real story.
The Vyas Mahabharat says Dharmraj's chariot during the war always travelled a foot above the ground, because he is dharma-atma. As soon as he said "ashwathama athaha kunjaraha" his chariot dropped, because he had spoken half truth for the first time in his life. Shar Plus MahaBahart is actually showing why Yudhistir is called Dharmaraj. So there is absolutely no distortion.

When the Pandavas got exiled, did Duryodhan actually agree to a "condition" of sorts that he would definitely "return" IP back to the Pandavas once they completed their exile?

so is it ok to think that kunti herself considered it as adharma?

The Pandavas, Draupadi and Kunti would have known of this. The others may have known from sources other than Vyasa. Or had Vyasa himself told them, it would have been on other occasions.

All the Pandava sons were in Indraprastha. After the game, while the Pandavas went into exile, Krishna, Dhrishtadyumna, Dhrishtaketu all went to Indraprastha and took them and their mothers back to their respective maaykas. Dhrishtadyumna seems to have taken Draupadi's sons to Kampiliya (although later, it seems, they may have been moved to Subhadra's care), Krishna took Subhadra & Abhimanyu to Dwarka, Dhrishtaketu took Karenamati to Chedi and so on. They converged @ Matsya after the wedding for Abhimanyu-Uttara's wedding.

One more question - maybe for the next thread:

Why are only Draupadi's sons known as 'Upa-Pandavas'? Why not Abhimanyu, Ghatotkacha, Iravana, Nirmitra, Sarvaga, Suhotra, et al? They too were grandsons of Pandu & sons of the Pandavas.

Minakshi/Varaali, time to launch the sequel to this thread❓

Congratulations to all participants for completing 150 pages!!!

I don't think it was explicitly stated. What I have read says "12 years exile + 1 year incognito and if found the cycle repeats". There seemed no mentioned of returning the kingdom. My personal view is that Pandavas should not have had any right to the kingdom they willingly gambled away.

"Sakuni then said,--'The old king hath given ye back all your wealth. That is well. But, O bull of the Bharata race, listen to me, there is a stake of great value. Either defeated by ye at dice, dressed in deer skins we shall enter the great forest and live there for twelve years passing the whole of the thirteenth year in some inhabited region, unrecognised, and if recognised return to an exile of another twelve years; or vanquished by us, dressed in deer skins ye shall, with Krishna, live for twelve years in the woods passing the whole of the thirteenth year unrecognised, in some inhabited region. If recognised, an exile of another twelve years is to be the consequence. On the expiry of the thirteenth year, each is to have his kingdom surrendered by the other. O Yudhishthira, with this resolution, play with us, O Bharata, casting the dice.'
