Madhu woke up still holding Vani's hand as she felt some movement...she quickly got up and first thing she saw was Vani who just now came out of her unconscious state...she smiled looking at Vani.
"Baby just wait I'll call the doctor" Madhu said in agitation.
She was about to call the doctor when the doctor himself entered the room.
"Hey princess is awake...how are feeling now" Doctor asked Vani.
"Now I am feeling okay doctor uncle" She had this habit of saying the complete sentence.
"Okay then let me check you" Doctor examined vani and read her prognosis report. Madhu was continously looking at the doctor wanting to know what he has to say about Vani's condition. Doctor read the reports carefully and turned down his head...and Madhu knew what he has to say.
The doctor looked at Vani when she called him in her sweet dulcet voice "Doctor Uncle"
"Yes little lady" Doctor replied
"Can I go home today...please...you know what doctor uncle Vivian Dsena is entering today in my favourite serial Madhubala...I can not miss it"
Yes Vani who was just six years old but still she was a huge huge fan of Actor Vivian Dsena... So, as today her favourite actor was entering the show she couldn't afford to miss it.
"Vani" Madhu stopped her.
"No dear you can't go home today" The doctor interrupted giving a despairing look.
Vani made a puppy face after listening to it but then again doctor prompted
"But...TV is right in front of you...so you can watch your show here...no one will disturb you...alright?"
"Sacchiii??...Thank you doctor uncle" Vani replied in excitement.
Madhu couldn't help but smile seeing Vani's excitement.
"Miss. Malik" The doctor called Madhu
"Y...Yes doctor" Madhu stammered.
"Come to my cabin I need to talk to you" Doctor said solemnly
Madhu gulped in nervousness and nodded in reply while the doctor left.
"Vani" Madhu said caressing her hair.
"Yes glycerine" Vani answered.
Yes she calls her mother with this name whenever she felt that her mother is upset or about to cry. And yes she learned this from her favourite show Madhubala.
Madhu rolled her eyes and said "I am not gonna cry...so don't call me with that name"
She giggled listening to that
"I'll be back in few minutes...till then no masti okay?"
"Oh fo mumma...I am lying on the hospital bed...what mischief I'll do here?"
Vani was a kid so she didn't realise what she was saying but Madhu did realise it. She hugged Vani instantly.
"I'll be right back" Madhu said while breaking the hug.
She turned around and was about to leave when Vani stopped her
"Glycerine"
Madhu turned around
"I hate tears"
This gave Madhu shivers...and she remembered how RK used to say the same line in the same manner. She looked at Vani again and wiped her tears while Vani gave a thumbs up in return. Madhu smiled and left the room.

"Look Miss. Malik...we have already told you before max to max she has only an year to survive...and untill we get the bone-marrow we can't do anything...her condition is getting worse day by day...I am afraid If nothing is done soon we will lose.." the doctor was about to say when Madhu interrupted.
"But doctor from where will i get the donor...Vani is my only daughter doctor." Madhu said with a pain in her voice.
"Then I don't have much to say Miss. Malik...I am sorry" Doctor said in a low voice and left the room to attend his patients.
Madhu lost her patience and cried sitting the cabin.
"Madhu I'll be with you even if I am not there with you."
This is what RK had promised to Madhu and this was echoing in her head while she cried her heart out"
"Why did you leave me RK when i needed you the most...why" She said burdened with mixed emotions of anguish and despair.

RK was busy going through the project files when suddenly his phone rang in between.
"RK" the boy said from the other side trying his best to make his voice loud and angry.
"Oh no...I think chief is very angry with me" RK said closing his file and resting his back on the chair.
"Yes I am...you promised me something do you remember?" The boy said in the same tone.
"Ummm...yes yes chief...I do remember" RK said scratching his forehead.
"Then why didn't you take me along with you?"
"Because you were sleeping at that time...I didn't want to wake you up...plus i had some important work so I came here...but now I am almost done with it so get ready...I coming home to pick you ok?"
"Awesome...Thank you dada...you are the best" The boy jumped in excitement.
"Okay be ready I'll be there in 20 minutes"
"Done dada"
"Bye champ!!"

Vani always hated the hospital environment but it was an irony of fate that now her life was only surrounded by hospitals and doctors. At this age in which kids to go school and play with toys she had to spend nights in the hospital and play with injections.
Vani was again in the effect of infusions and fell asleep. Madhu thought of get something for Vani as she was badly missing her toys in this horrible environment. So Madhu left for the near by mall.
She was at kids corner where she saw a beautiful doll which she thought Vani will love it...so she decided to get it for her and then headed towards the billing counter.
"Ouch" Madhu said when she got bumped with someone.
"Sorry"
She looked down and saw a kid standing with his head titled up looking at her with those innocent eyes. By looking at him automatically a smile covered her lips.
"It's okay beta..." Madhu asked softly touching his chin...and looked here and there and by not seeing anyone with him she asked him "Have you come alone?"
"No" the boy instantly replied.
"Are you parents here?"
"Yes"
"Where are they? Madhu asked him thinking that he got lost in this mall.
"Why??...i am a big boy...I can take care of myself" The boy said furrowing his brows.
Before Madhu could ask him anything further a voice came from his behind.
"Arjun...Arjun" A lady came calling his name.
Madhu looked at the lady coming towards them.
"Arjun where were you?" The lady asked him getting worried
"i was here only mumma...I got bumped into Aunty" the boy said pointing towards Madhu.
"Oh I am sorry...did he hurt you" The lady asked madhu.
"No no...It's totally fine don't worry" Madhu replied with a smile.
They ladies talked for few minutes and then introduced themselves
"By the way...I am Deepali Kundra"
"Madhubala Malik" Madhu replied
"Arjun...Arjun" Again someone called him
"Oh fo...first you and now dada" Arjun said to Deepali getting irritated
"Arjun where were..."
RK was about to say further but he stopped in mid way seeing Madhu standing in front of him. At that very moment the time stood still for both of them. Madhu's heart skipped several beats seeing him after 7 long years. Those moments which they had spent together were fresh in her mind all over again. She couldn't believe what was happening with her. She had decided not to meet him again in her life. But here he was standing in front of her after so many years...BUT even he was not the same RK whom she knew. Now he was married to someone else and had a son too.
"And he is my husband..." Deepali was about to say his name when Madhu prompted in between
"Rishabh Kundra" she said while a tear rolled down her cheek.
Madhu had many things to say, many questions to ask but she couldn't ask...she just couldn't...and without wasting anymore time quickly left from there.
