Hey everyone...back with the next part
Hope you all enjoy it 😃
Part 2(Madhu's POV)
We talked for hours, only stopping a few times to take a sip of the hot, brewing coffee sitting in front of us. The coffee prevented us from getting tired. So much for sleeping tonight. I snuggled into my coat, wrapping it closer to my body and rubbing my hands together to keep warm. RK smiled while watching me. He looked cute, or should I say even more handsome? I glanced at my watch. It was 3 am. Man it was late...or early. I didn't even know what to call it.
"I guess I should be heading home now." I said.
Then I realized that Trishna took the car with her. Damn! I bit my lip and fidgeted with my house keys.
"Anything wrong Madhu?" RK said.
"Oh...umm...no. It's just..." I sighed. I could see my breath in the frosty atmosphere. "Can I get a ride home?"
"Sure." He said.
We threw the empty cups of coffee in the trash and walked back outside into the street. Times Square was bright and glowing more than ever before. We walked alongside the tall buildings and huddled close together to keep warm. The wind was harsh however. RK pulled me against him to keep me warm. My stupid coat was too think for this occasion. The people in the streets looked at us, making awww sounds and smiling.
"RK why are they looking at us like that?"
"I heard someone. I think they think we are a couple."
"Oh is it?" Crazy people they were, I only known him for about 4 hours...
We were just about to reach the car when suddenly a small white flake fell on my coat. More of the same fell on me, then covering RK and the rest of the ground. We looked up at the same time. It was snowing. I ran a little ahead and twirled in the drifting snowflakes. I loved snowy weather. It was my favorite kind of weather. RK watched me from afar. He chuckled as I played with the small snowflakes, sticking out my tongue to let one fall on it.
(RK's POV)
She looked so playful and sweet playing in the snow. She seemed like a little girl, jovial and full of life. Like she was almost dancing to a special rhythm. Her foot hit a puddle that was frozen over, making her slip. I rushed to her and caught her by the waist before she tumbled to the ground. We stared at each other for the significant moments we had. Her chocolate brown eyes swirled in innocence and bore into mine. Her flowery perfume lifted to fill my nose. The wind blew her hair back, spreading it like a silky curtain. I was taken aback from my own behavior. I was beginning to like her. A car sped by, breaking the trance and bringing us back to reality.
"Come...I'll drop you home." I said.
We walked to my car, while asking her about her address. I opened the passenger door like a gentleman and let her get confortable. We sped off. Luckily, there wasn't much traffic. I took quick glances at her at the stoplights. She was smiling. Once she looked back at me, and then smiled wide.
(Madhu's POV)
Why did my heart beat fast whenever I looked at him? I didn't want to leave him. He was so kind and sweet. Time flew by as I stared at him. I was soon home.
"Bye Madhu." He waved as I stepped onto my porch.
"Bye RK..." I wanted to say something else, but hesitated. I unlocked my door and went inside.
(RK's POV)
I was getting ready to make a u-turn when suddenly my phone buzzed in my pocket. I pulled it out. It was Madhu's message.
"How about lunch tomorrow? I know a great caf nearby..."
"Sounds good. What time?" I typed.
"How's 12 pm?"
"Great. See you there." I typed a smiley face at the end.
(Next day...)
I got to the restaurant early. Madhu had messaged me the address. I sat around the table, sipping the coffee that the waitress set in front of me. I felt restless. I wanted to see her. Everytime the door swung open and made the jingling sound, I turned to see who it was.
It was 12:10 when Madhu showed up. She was panting and smiling at the same time.
"I'm sorry I'm late RK."
"It's okay...what happened?"
"You won't believe what happened! My childhood friend...Sultan...he is here in New York." She looked so excited. "He came from India a few weeks ago. I found him searching for my house."
"Are you too close?" I stupidly asked.
"Oh yeah...we did everything together. Shared all our secrets and went to each other for every little thing."
"That's interesting..." I mumbled. I picked at my salad angrily while Madhu sat down and ordered. I stabbed a cherry tomato with my fork in the process.
"Would you like to meet him?" She asked, fluttering her eyelashes.
"Uhhh...sure."
"Great...come over tomorrow. He'll be done unpacking by then."
"Okay."
Now this Sultan had to come in between. Did he like Madhu as well? Or was he just a friend? I guess I would only find out tomorrow...
Madhu began the conversation. She was really energetic today, despite running all the way here. Other moments we just stared at each other, losing ourselves in each gaze. My conscience spoke to me at the end of our meeting...
"You love her RK...you love Madhubala."
