I agree but, and this is just a hypothetical situation, this is not the actual reason. assume that madhu is gay. she loves RK but she cannot be in a heterosexual relationship with him because her sexual preferences are different. even so, she is not ready to come out. she is seeing someone outside of the marriage but would be mortified if the truth was out. she has to take her time, there's nothing to be done. if she says what she does too soon, she might fall apart. she has to think of herself before him. yes, if and when she comes out, RK will be the victim but it's not his choice to make.

also, I am looking to develop an arc so, we'll see how that goes

From what I understand of the character Rishab so far...

He is a man that has craved for but not achieved success ever... He has failed and is living in his failure with the hope to someday making it big.. He has partial awareness of the extent to which his failure has caused his personal life to shrivel and die... i.e. the so called "odd jobs" his wife performs.. but prefers to turn a blind eye to it so long as it doesn't stare back at him in the eye.. He is thoroughly frustrated and knows not how to deal with it... and since the only punching bag available is his lovely wife, he take a swig at her as and when he can...

AAagain I found a work of yours that really caught my attention. The character of Rishab close to a pessimist or rather a dark twisted minded person. Is he abusive or doe is he just insecure just couldn't figure out the character. In just two chapters you have build a mystery around everything about them From the job, relationship, the behaviour of the characters.

so waiting for more.

look at the page count dear and then contemplate if it is really worth my time posting a whole chapter here for a handful of people. just saying.
