wonderful analysis!!! i completely agree with you. the major problem with sultan's chr is its inconsistency. cvs shd have introduced him as another actor, they cd have had a terrific parallel lead. there wd have been no need for a bhai bhai track. another actor wd have worked.

introduced him as a dreaded gangster but made him so helpless that a woman had to hide him in her chawl n save him. it made him look ridiculous. first there was a hint of a sad past n that vanished all of a sudden n we got him look at our heroine who is still in love with her husband with loving eyes.

if the hero is completely bad, d golden hearted gangster falling for the heroine wd have been a triangular love story. but d cvs had promoted d story as eternal love story between hero n heroine. for all his faults, hero was shown always caring for heroine evn during his worst phase. so ppl though were upset with him, wanted him back with d heroine. so there were no takers for gangster romance.

so next step cvs made the gangster a repulsive villain who suddenly turns from loving guy to lusting villain. he manhandles the girl, threatens her, tortures her n hurts her husband - and all for love.

complete rejection of bhai - cvs are majorly responsible for the mess. they can't give such a faulty inconsistent chr n expect us to accept him.

very good analysis, enjoyed it.

this is a bang on post👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 when rk was behaving lyk a jerk with madhu, we all rishbalians critiqued him a lot for his behaviour...yes, rishbala is our jaan, but we never were immatured enough to praise rk when he hurt madhu...and we had nothing against AR as well..most of us did not even know him, though he starred in CHAM...the reason behind his rejection was only that his character was not developed correctly and was not even in sync with the whole plot...he was never accepted by the audience except a few...this is the best analysis i have read so far👍🏼

My POV sorry.

that's okay yaar..to each his own...but i thought the movie ended on their death..n the police was looking out for him and Manisha but his family was not arrested..nyways why are we discussing Dil se 😆 If u don't like such plots, you wouldn't have liked aashiqui 2 also?

Wonderful post Shruti!

I mentioned few times about this...but maybe the channel and ST (to some extent) were influenced by their previous gangster show LTL. That Dutta as a gangster was really a well known and accepted character. Maybe the channel thought to repeat the same here while they forgot the storyline in MB is totally different.

you know when you posted tht msg yest. (In Chakku's thread?) I was reminded of Aashiqui 2...

". In MB's eyes she has become that limb which needs to be amputated from RK to save his life."

this one... imagine if Madhu committed suicide so that RK lives in peace , free from the threat of Sultan, that was the climax of Aashiqui 2 ..😆

I just knew that it did not have a happy ending so avoided it like the plague.😆

And here I knew Sullu would be caught in the end so was tolerating the track.😊

Wonderful post!!

I remember looking forward to the introduction of a new character when Sultan was announced. Each time we thought his track would work, they messed it up royally. At least they could have made him powerful, the kind of powerful that we're seeing now...eyes & ears on the ground. Instead he needed Madhu's support all the time. Even now, he requires Madhu's support and Dipali's support to execute his plan.
Whatever...I am so glad he is going. Alvida..sayonara..ciao😃
