"Aaiye Malik saab, welcome bhabi ji, welcome Madhu beta to our abode," greeted Mohan Kundra. It was indeed a warm reception from the Kundras. Padmini's eyes kept on looking for Jeevika and when she saw her, she could make out how happy her daughter was in this family. "Didz, how are you?" "Tujhe kya ho gaya? Are you ill?" asked Jeevika looking at her sister's sudden 'plain Jane' avatar. Although Madhu was not the type who would put on layers of makeup and gaudy attire, but her impeccable dressing style would make her noticeable in any situation. Today she was wearing a blue crushed long skirt with a plain white short kurti and a printed stole. This is how Jeevika must have seen Madhu dress up while going for groceries, certainly not for occasions like this!! "Uhh..Didz..I was tired of all those heavy dresses and makeup from your wedding. So I am putting up this ordinary look these days." Madhu could well understand from the disapproval in her sister's look that her reasoning was not convincing enough. "Arrey kya khusur-phusur chal raha hai behno me? Let's get inside. Jeevika, show your mom and sister around," asked Radha.

After about an hour everyone gathered around the dining table for lunch. All this while, Madhu was feeling uneasy, not because of Rishabh's presence, but for the contrary. This was a catch-22, his presence would make both of them over-conscious and absence meant he was distancing himself from his family today because of her. Why did she have to be an object of concern within her Didz in-laws? "Rishu beta, kahan ho tum? Come quickly, we are waiting," spoke Radha on the phone. Madhu stiffened for a moment but decided to be as composed as possible for the rest of the day. "Where were you so long beta?" "Uncle ji, I have some urgent work at the office, so even on a weekend I am doing work from home." When none of his tricks to get away from home this weekend could work successfully on his mom, he decided to lock himself up in the library in the name of 'work from home'.

The luncheon went very well. Everyone appreciated the new bahu's culinary skills and the Maliks were more than confident about the well-being of Jeevika in the Kundra family. After the meal, everyone lazed in the living area. Rishabh took leave of everyone, saying he had to finish his job at the earliest. Karan took Jeevika and Madhu to the terrace to show their orchid greenhouse. Padmini and Radha were discussing about the wedding day when suddenly Padmini asked her, "So what about Rishabh? When does he want to get married?" "I do not know Padmini ji. He is not at all inclined to marriage these days." "But he is such a good boy. You would not have any difficulty to get a suitable bride for him." Radha looked at her for a moment and before thinking through, said, "he liked your younger daughter so much, but.." and regretted that very instant. "Radha ji!" Now it all fell in places for Padmini. "I am so very sorry Radha ji. God has blessed us with a damaad like Karan, and Rishabh would have doubled the happiness. But now the situation is not in our hands. We cannot retreat from this situation as that would tarnish Madhu's image.." "No Padmini ji, please do not even think of that. Rishabh is a much matured boy. He will get out of this soon. And I request you; please do not tell anything about this to Jeevika. Let us not put her in any dilemma."

Madhu was very happy at her home, having tea with her parents and chatting about Jeevika's new life. Suddenly Padmini asked her, "Madhu, did you speak to Rishabh?" This sudden change of track took her completely by surprise. "Why Ma? No, we did not speak to each other." Shamsher looked at both questioningly. "Madhu, did he tell anything about marriage?" "Ma!! No!!" exclaimed Madhu. "What are you saying Padmini?" Padmini narrated her conversation with Radha, and all this while Madhu could feel her cheeks flushing. "Ma, stop pondering over that incident. I am engaged already. Then what is the point in discussing all this?" Madhu seldom spoke with a raised voice to her parents, so this exasperation explained her disapproval and the Maliks decided to stop the talk right away.

"Rishabh, when are the XS company representatives coming for the demo?" asked Jean-Marc Francois, Rishabh's boss. "This afternoon; I hope they have an equally capable team here in India, as in Houston," said Rishabh while going through the scope of work sent ahead by the XS team. Rishabh was waiting at the visualization room with Jean-Marc, when the XS team entered. Rishabh stood up and greeted everyone and shook hands, and froze to see the last person entering the room. Was he hallucinating? It was none other than Madhu, in a perfectly fitting formal skirt suit. Even she was puzzled to see Rishabh there, but quickly recovered and extended her hand saying, "Madhu Malik, project geologist."
