Episode 291 Discussion: 6th June 2013

Welcome to the Episode discussion thread which we call as Viewer's and Reader's Respite. That's very apt, don't you think ? 😉. And that proves our objective.

Objective behind the thread is

It helps in keeping the forum clean without much litter. People just need to fall in a habit.
We can have it like breathers at first followed by analysis.
It also helps like-minded souls and pals bond and gel together to drop in their thoughts for themselves as breathers and for their friends as a peep into the episode and for others to post their reviews.
And those from different time-zones, who do not get to watch the episode at this time of telecast (Indian 8:30 PM), without any worry to trace or keep track of all their buddy's posts, they can come here, read with leisure and later post their analysis after watching it from their Time zones.

Note for Newcomers to this thread.

Extremist thoughts and moralizing thoughts are not welcome over this thread. It is entertainment show we are watching. The channel calls their programs as entertainment and we are watching the show. Discussions are welcome in light hearted and in realistic manner. Moral policing is not appreciated. We do not want to feel stifled into that kind of atmosphere here.

There are several other social welfare sites that are there to discuss the genuine issues. If for some reason, it is felt that social concerns have to be addressed and ethical and moral responsibility needs to be exercised for watching entertainment, then; certainly the forum is an open place to create separate ATs and build up that kind of propaganda.

Please heed to this as direct request and conditional requirement to participate in this thread. Strong words such as psychopaths unless used in show, need not be used to instigate riotous atmosphere or start sermonizing.

POINTERS for Writing/Posting of your reviews and thoughts over this EDT

Do not litter the thread with chit-chat conversations. A little is permitted to have the friendly atmosphere, but when you feel like chatting more, it is desired you take your conversation with your buddies to alternate venues like chat clubs, pm mode etc.
Quoting Policy: It is desired that people refrain from single, double, triple and multiple quoting of posts on a repetitive basis. They can pick out the parts that they like to quote as opposed to quoting the entire post. It is often seen that we have to scroll through the pages when all they have done is quoting and more quoting with one line response to the actual post. IF has a rule that more than three times quoting is not allowed. But nowadays as people read IF posts over phone, it is preferred that people do not quote longer posts and just extract the portions of the post that they like to respond to and if they still find it relevant to their thought process then get the entire quoted text.
Regulate the font size. Keep remembering that. It is really not pleasing to see big bolded letters for no special reason.
The thread becomes a mess when you give your review and do not REST for sometime until others have posted. Please understand, respites or reviews; once or twice are good for few pages...don't make a regular chat thread with your reiterating/whining/complaining on the same point. For the online readers, the thread becomes unpleasant read. There is a separate Complaints thread in Main Forum.
When episodic content is emotional, take a deep breath, give a good lengthy review; that acts as your vent in one single post...and make an exit to calm down your nerves if you still are possessed by only what you've seen.

Episode 291 Discussion - EOD Summary

Roaring Radhaji chucks Pyromaniac Padmini into silence, RK brings Madhu to Mandap and Sultan discovers his dead-father.

Events of the Episode

Padmini comes to RK Mansion, starts a scene with Radhaji and Bittuji and demands them to find Madhu. She continues calling RK a Rakshas who is not capable of anything better other than hurting her daughter. Radhaji cannot take it anymore and asks Padmini to calm down and control her emotions. She defends her son's truthfulness and counters Padmini about her daughters reasons to call Sultan into her room when everyone was absent from the Mansion. Padmini stands tongue-tied all ashamed.

RK calls Bittuji to get everyone to Mandap. He drives into Mandap where media people gherao him and ask him to give some bytes. RK starts entertaining the media by starting on a dramatic monologue on how normal marriages are done by normal people and how special people like him get married in special manner. To be continued tomorrow.

Sultan takes the locket home, opens an old trunk to get a picture of him with his mother and father. Recongnizes the man in the pic as the same drunk man, traces the locket to locket over the pic, tells Kaka that Rashid is alive. Same night he asks his men to find him and he himself finds Rashid besides a temple and he frisks him into his car. To be continued tomorrow.

There was a time when Radha used to annoy me beyond my wits and Padmini won all the mother of the year awards. And now, Radha is fast becoming my favorite Mom. I've had ENOUGH with Padmini and her useless hysteria. In the span of last few days and in the name of protecting her daughter, all she has done is to madly call Sultan and yap "bachao bachao meri beti ko" non-stop. And when Radha asks her why that outsider was in Madhu's bedroom, Padmini stays mum??!!! 😡😡 I'm beyond appalled. She'd rather let them believe that Sultan being in the bedroom was not against Madhu's wishes entirely than acknowledge her role in the play??!! Why on earth Padmini? No award, or respect for you this year.

TRP and GRP Ratings - Week 22 - 27th May to 2nd June:

MEIEJ has recovered its downslide. It holds 7th position across all channels and 2nd position across Colors.
Colors has also regained considerably from last week on GEC segment and is at par with Zee holding second position. Inches marginally up beating Zee to third position on television Channel category. STAR leads the GRP race.

Have no idea at this time, how is Television Channels different from GEC category.

GRPs:
Most channels GRPs increased compared to the week before. Starplus continues to be # 1. Colors is in the #2 position, with Zee dropping to #3.

Colors GRPs increased marginally from 184 to 186. Most Colors shows did better than the week before. Note: this was week 1 of JDJ.

TRPs:
The IPL has ended, and all shows put in an extra effort post. Practically all the top show TRPs increased compared to the week prior. MB TRPs increased noticeably from 2.3 to 2.6 ; the show continued in #7 position among the top 10 shows. See chart below for MB weekly trends:

Note: does not take into consideration impact of adding new markets at various points. Size of these markets, viewing patterns, demographics, level of digitization etc. of those markets would impact TRPs. Also, hard to judge IPL's exact impact.

It's going to be very interesting to follow the TRPs trends over the next few weeks. They will indicate whether viewers have been re-energized by the strategy adopted by the show: continuing a positive trend with the wedding (albeit with a twist); new entries; and whatever else they may have cooked up!

And then finally, a comparison to other top 10 shows. MB went up, so did 9 of the 10 top shows. Several other shows, notably Starplus shows increased significantly compared to the week prior.

The two charts below show: 1) Top 10 shows TRPs and 2) TRP increase/drop for those shows, compared to the week prior. The blue bars on the second chart are the ones that did better, the red are the ones that did worse, and the no bars are the ones that were the same.

PS: all my usual caveats apply - this is a rough analysis etc. etc. Feel free to point out the holes (I freely admit there's probably some!)

I was incredibly upset with the way Padmini was talking. The rudeness, the sheer audacity in blaming RK for ever damn thing, without realizing that Madhu too has made some mistakes and especially her own hand this mess. But Padmini too was made silent with Radhaji's questions. I loved that bit.

And then when she sees Madhu at the wedding location she is so calm. Ab kya hua? Why didn't she yell then? Rakshas ko dekh ke mooh bandh? Ya itne saare logon ke saamne tamasha nahin karna? If that was the case, why didn't she think of that before?

And RK is not normal definitely. But he isn't hatke either. He is the third kind "khaas", special. Not much of RishBala today. I'm waiting to see what they say tomorrow. So far, no one knows what RK is planning. And I want to see what Madhu is going to say to counter him. Will she try to save her face? Will she try to win back sympathy as a victim? But then Madhu has never thought about what the world at large thinks of her .. so she might be talking to RK only.

RK spoke about how his relationships are special. Was he trying to talk about how he dislikes sharing his "choti si duniya" with the world at large?

Why is everything related to Sultan so clunky? Old box in a room full of cobwebs? Haven't they shifted from Dubai recently? A man still wearing a 30 year old locket? Kaka looking like he is acting in a horror film And when Sultan said 'mera baap!' while trying to look furious, I could only 😆 Of course, clunk dictated that Sultan will find his baap sitting on the pavement right in front of him the next time he steps out of his house. And when he catches him and says 'main tumhaara beta hoon' and I was 🤣

Another 😆 was Radhaji interrupting Padmini's bakbak with a fierce question of her own - what was the man RK hates doing in Madhu's room? That shut up Padmini for good 👏

RK is being as unpredictable as ever. I thought he was being so mature since morning so maybe that will carry on. But he seems to again revert to the old humiliating-Madhu-in-public RK in the precap. But precaps can be misleading so maybe it will turn out to be different than what it looks.

Pads showed her true colours today. If she was really concerned about her daughter's well being, should she not have admitted to Radhaji that she had sent Sultan and Madhu had no role to play in his presence in their house? She seemed to be more interested in saving her own skin. Imagine what Radhaji would have thought of her when she comes to know that a mother asked a stranger to kidnap her own daughter.

Looks like RK's public admission of his misdeeds is one of the gifts suggested by the contestants. What is better than a public apology to redeem himself, especially when Madhu would know how much that would cost him. He had made a public spectacle of her in the hate marriage. Although he did not involve the press in the unwedding, the press was aware of what was going on in his life. that is why they were asking those uncomfortable questions on the mehendi day.

I think RK personally decorating the marital bed is also one of the gifts suggested by the contestants. RK had gifted her a chilli/cactus filled marital bed for their first SR. So this was to make up for that.

The designer wedding dress could also be a suggestion for gift. After all RK had made her wear a hairdresser's borrowed saree during the unwedding. What better way to wipe that stain with a Neeta Lulla dress (although the colour combination is not to my liking)

One has to wait to see what the last gift would be. I hope it is RK forgiving Madhu and vowing to start their lives afresh although I'm not too sure about this.

⭐️ Padmini..have you lost it womaniya? she's living in 1947 or what? all of a sudden she barged in, she's ordering them to find Madhu , then she's accusing them of sending her lovely daughter with a rakshas.cut the crap man ! why not go and find your daughter yourself or ask your friend cum guide Sultan...and then she was mum and couldn't answer a simple question from Radha...thank you Radhaji 🤗 jab apni galti aayi toh chup ? why not tell Radha what Madhu was planning to do with RK and why did she send Sultan? at least tell them that she was the one who sent Sultan and Madhu didn't invite him ..

⭐️ Sultan...you know this is one quality of Mumbai ka Sultan...his mind works faster than Google map and Google Earth..he can find people just by their name in Mumbai..there the man was, sitting right behind him and he's ordering his men to look out for him ...and phir se he had to chase him to get hold of him ...

saare episode ka kachra kar diya with the crap ..no Rishbala today 🤢 hadh hai...this is precisely the reason for low TRP's...we're waiting for Rishbala with baited breath and here we get a mad Padmini and a madder Sultan...howcome his "store room" had so much of scrap? did he get all of it from Dubai? that sitar and toota hua furniture? abhi baap aaya hai phir ma aayegi pakane ko...uff !

Precap, i liked it that RK admitted his folly in front of the media...it takes a lot of guts...vaise i liked his short speech ...that this shadi is ulta and he's different from normal people...👏

Radha-Padmini scene was truly fantabulous... Radhaji aapne kamaal kar diya!!! ⭐️

And Padmini the less I talk about her, the more better...

RK-Madhu: Dhang ka kuch dikhaya nahi...

Precap: RK is coming clean of their entire story.. both their prem-games... lets see what Madhu has to tell... Agree with what Shri told in the Media thread.. whatever his intentions are but looks like coz Madhu involved Sultan(world), he himself is proclaiming his and Madhu's follies...

For godsake, complete the RK-Madhu scene tomorrow...
