Thanks for the lovely review.

I try to provide you with long updates, but unfortunately as I update on a regular basis, it is difficult to balance out work and home and other activities. But I do try to do my best...

Note: I am working on this really fun update which will highlight some cute Rishab-Madhu moments for those dying of MAL-RishabMadhu-NOURISHMENT...

Chapter 36

Rishab looked up when Madhu emerged from the tent and he sighed when she avoided his gaze. Just as he had feared, she was regretting the time they had spent together... and more specifically the kisses they had shared.

Akash glanced at Rishab, concerned when he saw the way his friend was watching Madhu. He walked over to the spot he had chosen, secluded from the others. "Hey, buddy." Rishab glanced up when Akash approached him. "Hey."

Akash unfolded the camp stool he had grabbed and sat down. "You wanna tell me what's going on?" Rishab frowned. "Don't know what you mean."

"Rishab back in the day, when we were in university and even back home I understand why you are the way you are, shut down, withdrawn, focussed on work and what it took to make it big, and you didn't want anything to do with anyone beyond that."

Rishab studied his partner and friend. "What're you up to, man?" "This is the only place where I have seen you be yourself. I still remember how it took time for you to start to come outta that, but you've been doing better than that for years now. This's the first time in a long time that you've spent the evening on a climb hanging by yourself instead of sitting around the fire 'bullshitting' with the climbers."

"I've got a headache," Rishab lied. "If you don't do something about this mood, I will add to that headache with a matching black eye." Shaking his head Akash calmed down and finally said, "What happened between you two?"

Rishab groaned in frustration when the other man refused to drop it. "It's personal, okay?"

"Well, we're not a couple of girls so it's not like you've gotta tell me so we can have a good cry and hug or anything, I'm just saying, you know, if you wanna talk or anything, I'm around." He cleared his throat. "Okay?"

Rishab glanced at Madhu again, watching the way she prepared dinner for her friends and he shook his head. "Nothing to talk about, Akash. Everything's fine."

"Alright. You're a f**king liar, but alright." He elbowed his friend. "You wanna cup of coffee?" "Yeah." Rishab got up from where he was sitting to join the group. Akash was right, he had been acting unusually with everyone because he wasn't able to deal with the situation and that had to stop.

Harpreet glanced up when Akash and Rishab finally decided to join them. "About time you got off your ass, old man," she joked, tossing one of the cups to Rishab and motioning to the coffee. "Did you just call me an old man?" Rishab asked.

"Whatcha gonna do about it, Grampa?" Harpreet grinned at him. She was only two years younger than Rishab and Akash but she liked to give them shit about it.

Rishab glanced at Akash and they both just nodded and each took a handful of her coat to pull her backwards in the snow. They used their free hands to grab some of the cold white stuff and rubbed it into Harpreet's face.

"Hey, no fair! f**k, that's cold!" she shrieked when some of the snow got under her shirt.

Abby laughed out loud as she watched the guides behaving like a group of ten-year-old school kids. Madhu shook her head at them with a small smile.

"See, this's the kinda job I need," Adam said. "These guys are having fun and getting paid for it." "Uh-huh and also risking their lives for people they don't even know," Abby said.

"Yeah, but at the end of the day it's all worth it... and hell," he held his arms out, "look at their office!"

Harpreet came back and took a seat next to Adam. "Pay could be better. Seriously, I can only afford a little one-bedroom apartment." "Yeah, but you're not confined to an office all day." Harpreet shook her head. "Nah, thank God. I need to be outdoors."

Abby rolled her eyes. "Are you ready to give up law enforcement to be a guide?" Adam shrugged. "Hell, why not? Our parents would kill me, though."

Sikander watched Harpreet for a few moments, knowing that she meant every word. She needed the open space and he was pretty sure that she'd go crazy confined to an office day after day. He shook himself out of his thoughts and turned to go back to take Deepali her dinner.

"So you study law?" Harpreet asked as Rishab took a seat next to her. "Sounds boring," Rishab made a face but winked at Adam to show him it wasn't meant to be rude. "Well, some of it is, not even gonna lie about that," Adam said with a laugh. "But I'd like to eventually get into the CID, so the degree's a necessary evil."

Rishab nodded. "Cool, what about the rest of you?" he glanced at Abby and Madhu. "Same as Adam, just a different area of interest," Abby said. He looked at Madhu but she looked preoccupied. So he tried getting her attention, "Sounds like the rest of these jokers are pursuing law degrees, so what about you Madhu?"

Madhu looked at him and answered, "Geologist but Artist at heart, as you should already know." Rishab's eyebrows nearly shot off of his forehead. "Geology?" he choked out. "Rock jock, huh?" Harpreet asked as she reached out to pat Rishab on the back. She nodded. "Yeah."

The whole group was an interesting bunch, with different personalities. Any psychologist would have a ball of a time observing them. They kept hopping from one topic of conversation to another, and in between Akash and Abby would make their flirtatious sexual innuendos which would get Adam gagging and the rest rolling their eyes.

Like the time Harpreet happened to ask, "So, how did you guys like your first storm up on a mountain?" "Whew, it was pretty exciting and a lot exhausting. A little bit scary, too," Abby admitted, "but in a good way."

Akash grinned. "There's only one thing that even comes close to that rush," he said with a wink. "Hmmm, what could that be?" she said playfully. He felt pretty confident when her tone and expression turned flirtatious. "Sex... no, not just sex... hot, wild sex."

"Oh God, not again!!" Adam exclaimed while Rishab hit Akash lightly on the side of his head.
