short but one of d best updates of ff specially rk lines to madhu were superb. he clearly said he didn't regret anythng hope madhu understands

Note: I know this is not Rishab-Madhu centered, but trust me this was needed...

Chapter 35

Sikander walked over to Rishab's tent and crouched down to open the entrance. He winced when she saw the cut on Deepali's face. He climbed into the tent carefully and crawled up next to her to watch her.

Deepali shifted and grimaced when she realized how badly her head was hurting. She groaned and reached up to rub her forehead, frowning when someone stopped her from moving any further. She forced her eyes open and looked up at her brother. "Sikander? Wha' happened?"

"I don't know why, but you moved too far out and then you fell over the edge." he caressed her cheek gently. "But Rishab got to you in time." She smiled. "See I told you he loves me. Otherwise why would he come save me?"

Sikander felt even more guilt creeping up inside of him as he knew he just had to burst her bubble and make her face reality. "Deepali now is not the time to talk about that. Anyway they don't think you're gonna be able to continue the trip. They're gonna arrange a pick up in the morning to get you down."

"What? No!! Rishab has just started to show his love for me and I am not going to let that Madhu come in between us while I am away. She is not going to f**k up my life?"

Sikander shook his head. "Deepali, just stop it. Please just stop it. I can't let you do this anymore. At first I truly believe you loved Rishab. But when he didn't respond to you the way you wanted him to, your love turned into obsession. I don't blame you for it though. If Papa exercised some control over you and didn't just coddle you, you would probably not reach this extent. But you need to understand Rishab doesn't love you and probably never will."

"No you're lying. He wouldn't have saved me if he didn't love me." She replied stubbornly. Sikander continued trying to talk to her, "Rishab was just doing his job. You are nothing but a climber who lost her footing and fell and he being a guide, came after you to save you." He repeated again, "He was doing his work. Rishab doesn't love you."

"He doesn't ...love me." She said meekly, tears flowing from her eyes. "Don't worry about it. We'll go down and spend some time in the cabin. We can go to the spa there. Also don't forget the shopping. Imagine all the fun stuff you can buy for peanuts here." He tried cheering her up.

"But Sikander, you've been having so much fun on this trip." She started saying. "I'm not gonna leave you alone, Deepali. I'm not that bad a brother." She whacked him lightly on the arm. "You're a great brother," she said, reaching up to touch his cheek. "But I have been a really sucky sister, haven't I? I am sorry for everything. You know what? You should continue with the climb. You deserve this vacation. Plus you can spend some time with Harpreet too." She said teasingly.

He laid his hand over hers. "But I don't want you to be alone down there." "I'll just hang out at the lodge and catch up on some reading. I want you to enjoy this trip." "And leave you alone with those poor meek souls. You would totally eat them for breakfast. Someone needs to protect them from you." He said and laughed. "Besides, Harpreet will be coming down with us too."

"Ah, so thats the reason why you're fighting to be my caregiver huh?" she said shaking her head and smiling. "So, it's settled then?" he asked. "Only if you're really sure about it." "I'm sure." he said assuredly.

"Alright, then," he leaned forward to kiss her carefully on the head. "Are you hungry? We're getting ready for dinner now that the storm's over." "Yeah, I could eat a little something," she said, with a smile. "You wanna try to come out with me or you want me to bring something to you?"

"No, I think I'll just hang out here that way if I fall asleep again I won't have to worry about having to get back in the tent." Not to mention she wasn't in the mood to put up with the smart remarks that were sure to be made after her accident. Plus she may have accepted the fact that Rishab didn't love her but she was not mentally ready to see him with Madhu yet. "Okay, I'll be back soon then."
