Thanks, SD! I try not to react to people, but sometimes it gets too much. All I'm asking for really is for a chance to get my career in track before I commit to a relationship that comes with so many responsibilities. I don't know why it is so hard for them to understand this. Oh, and I would like a man who I can talk to. 😊 That's about the limit of my expectations from this whole marriage business, really. I'm just scared that even my ridiculously low expectations won't be met.

@ choice - It is inspiring for me to actually talk to people who have made some choices of their own in life. Most of the people I see around me don't even think. They just follow set patterns. And that is terrifying.

All I can say is that the best way to counteract people is to be completely financially independent.

rahmona_pakswe,

Okay as others said, it is easy to call you RP. Okay ?😉

Thank you for sharing your experiences.

Yours has been the first post that actually away from all theories, 👏tells us how adolescence matters and how it is THE MOST SENSITIVE stage of life shared on a personal level. For those formative years shape up your life. And someone needs to be besides the adolescent to take care of them, Its the age when they fight with the family to break away to explore the world and yet need the shelter and care of the Home and Family.

And the impact of interrupted childhood and not dealt successfully by three men has been showcased again by three of us today. A secondary level of knowing. This part not only hurts the subject, but the subject hurting people around it and how it breeds more breakages!

In this context, then RK's story, I only pray my stars now (for the creatives). On reality level he is doomed if he doesn't get treated or healed. On the story level, will the writers treat that RK gets healed with all the fights that MB is gonna give ? A vent. Any vent.
Because at the end of day, RK is just being peremptory stuck with father's death. At real, it is not a big deal. At the most he can become a Control-Freak, but not have sleepless nights.
But then again I end blaming the mother, as she never gave the child the vent. She needed to be there and she was CLEARLY NOT THERE in my opinion. I am dead sure on this.

@ Bee re the Ramayan. That aspect of it troubled me greatly till i decided to stop seeing Ram as a gendered being. Once he becomes the ideal non gendered heroine as it were, his philosophy, tolerance , vulnerability, mistakes, errors of judgement, repentance all become more beautiful.

We must remember that these are not divine diktats but humanly authored texts. If sublime, wonderful. If they are limited by the author's own lack of spiritual refinement and defined by his ignorance ( tulsidas on women and valmiki re sita) we should call them out on those grounds. In fact, this human agency is one of the only redeeming features of the hindu tradition. At least we don't have gospels and we can't have blasphemy.

Not in a tradition that has Surdas in it.

But weren't we speaking of Madhubala?

Well, I think the CV's shoud definitely read this thread. The way you gals have pooled in your theories and ideas to understand RK, is truly remarkable. I am quite humbled in the presence of such amazing minds. The writers might get adeas on how to explain RK in the best possible way. For now, he is all ego and nasty and brutish when it comes to Madhu. Hope this thread provides them enough insight to give us an answer, why he kept mum when Deepali was harassing him!!! I need to know and CV's it better have a darn good reason for it!

by the end of this meeting today, I am pleased to hear out what my beautiful girls(B, FG, FQ and RP) spoke about. It has so far been the best-est trip to knowledge and sharing. I am gonna find the material what Bhoomi suggested me to read.

And FQ, I too got it very early on that Hindu texts are hugely male-oriented. It is always through the man's eyes. I started my childhood liking Ram, then discarded him for disrespecting Sita, disliked Krishna for his amours, but ended up liking his free spirit of love, like Mahabharata as it tells us what should we make of religion, our way of life. I have seen Telugu texts lying around in my Dad and Mom's book shelfs... with all those Puranic texts...never could read them as I don't know written Telugu. One day I would want to read these texts just to know how I got stationed here now through the realms of Indian history. And like you, with each text that I read, I ungender it and just absorb the wisdom out of it and discard the rest.

FQ & Bhoomi, I am very very pleased to know you as I was really looking for this kind of company that stimulated my mind.

And my Fruity Girl (FG), I feel so bad for her that.😔 The image of the fish killed me. But then I guess,FQ is gonna take care of her. They talk nicely and I can remain in mute 😆

BUT all in all, haven''t we really touched most of it ? I am just satisfied at this point. Now I really do not care where RK story on Colors takes off. This discussion was much more appealing and rewarding in real sense as what we feel, what can be done or should be done. The rest is upto creativity of a team on whom we don't have any control.
