Vivan gears up for Chak De! India

Model turned actor Vivan Bhatena has recently signed up for Shahrukh Khan starrer Chak De! India. The movie is directed by Shimit Amin of the Ab tak Chhappan fame and produced by Aditya Chopra. It revolves around the story of a hockey coach's ambition of pinning the Indian girl's hockey team on the international map. The film appears to be a desi version of Bend it Like Beckham with Vidya Malvade playing Parminder Nagra. Sagrika as we concluded is a part of the Girls hockey team coached by Shahrukh Khan. The film is partially shot in Australian cities like Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
.

Chak De records stories of some of the girls and that is where our actor arrives; Vivan elaborates, "In Chak De, I am playing a cameo. It is a small role, but it is emotive." He plays Yuvraj who is the vice-captain of a cricket team and is critical of hockey being a lesser sport, "Yes, but through the end of the film I realise that all sports hold equal importance and merit," he adds wistfully.

Shedding light on his character Vivaan elaborates, "Yuvraj is a borderline negative character and is in love with his childhood sweet heart played by Sagrika, who is also incidentally debuting with the film."

Our conversation opens and breaks with bad network, and in our second attempt I ask Vivaan as to why is his name is being dragged with Jasveer Kaur? Rumour has it that Jasveer and Vivaan were a couple before he met fianc Nikhila Palat, "Its utter rubbish. Please don't blow up this gossip as I am in a successful relationship for about four years, we will soon tie the knot. Jasveer is my ex-girlfriend in reel life: people shouldn't confuse the same with my real life!"

For the uninitiated Nikhila and Vivaan met through the theatre circuits. Nikhila's sister Diyva and husband Aditya Hitkari run a theatre company called Balancing Act production. Unlike her beau or her sister Nikhila isn't an actress or even an aspiring one. She works as the marketing head of a prominent woman's magazine. And Vivaan seems to be delighted with the idea, "It works perfect for me. I mean if you shoot the whole day and she shoots the whole day - what the hell do you talk about in the evening? There have to be certain differences, it would be so boring otherwise. She not being a part of the T.V industry is a big bonus for me."

With love life flourishing, career taking up a significant shape and a role in an SRK film: life looks like a perfect picture to us!

Send us your comments on Vivaan's role as Shabd in the Myaaka to editor@tellychakkar.com

ME & my pet- 'Horses are very elegant animals'
VIKRANT RAI Actor
S ince childhood, I have been scared of cats and dogs. So till date I have not actually gath ered the courage to keep them as pets. I do love dogs and once I over come this fear, I will keep a dog as a pet in my house. But for some rea son, I dis like cats. But I do have a dream. I want to own a stable and keep lots of horses in it. I consider horses to be a man's best friend. I just love their gallop. I think they are very elegant and can easily be domesticated due to their docile and friendly nature. I would love to spend some time in their company. They are a great stress-buster too. A ride on a horse is something I really love, also it would be great to own a stable. Then you have the liberty to select the horse you want to ride on.

Poor Neha Bamb was in for a rude shock recently when she took a two-minute break on the sets of her show Maayka to eat some vada pao in her van. For some reason she took off her earrings during the break and forgot to put them back on. Unfortunately for her, director Rajan Shahi hit the roof when he saw her bare ears and yelled at her in front of everyone. The poor girl was so embarrassed that she didn't know what to do or how to react.

But what was worth watching when Neha was being shouted at was the crowd reaction. Everyone had a smile on their face and some were even overheard saying, "Aaj toh Neha ki band bajee." The reason for this insensitivity is Neha's alleged hoity-toity behaviour on the sets. Apparently she is very rude to the spot boys and is forever throwing tantrums so people just felt she was getting a dose of her own medicine.

Kabhi haan kabhi naa…that was what Ajay krish was saying to himself and the Mamta team before the leap took place. Apprehensive as to whether he would be able to play an older version of Sid, Ajay finally said yes. And how is he fairing? Lets find out from this dashing actor himself.

How has the environment changed after Neha and Krish left?

Its been very sad. We're all missing Neha and Krishu.. Krish is the cutest kid I've ever seen. He's grown up in front of us. On the last day of his shoot, I came on the set, Krishu ran towards him and gave me a hug, I actually broke down that day. And about Neha, well, she's made her choice. She needed a break. We all took breaks in between. Neha was the only one working from day one.

Your comments on the generation leap?

Its only me and Andy on the sets from the previous generation. Everyone else is new. Even the creative team changed again. It will take a while to adjust with everyone.

Do you think the sid - Mamta chemistry will be created again with you and Narayani?

Neha and I got along well. There was great understanding between us. Our chemistry as actors clicked well, which made things easy. And as fas as Narayani is concerned, she is a fabulous actress, we will have to work on re creating Sid and Mamta chemistry as I haven't worked with her before. But I am sure that in give course of time, we will work things out.

Talking about the show, what went wrong? In the last one year, every character hit rock bottom at some point.

The story had its share of flaws. Mamta's, Akshay's and Sid's character was butchered. Akshay and Sid were negative, and then positive again. Sid was completely lost after his return. He didn't know what to do, He didn't know what was going on. He became negative and then positive, and had his share of love interests but then was always a loner in the end.

Talking about Sid's broken love interest, Congratulations for finally getting married on the show.

(laughter) well, Sid was married early too. But yes, he is settled now. I pity that guy, first he had Mamta, then Anamilka, then Masuma, then Mamta again. Its been one roller coaster for him.

And what about your link ups with all your female co stars? You were linked up to almost all the female actresses of the show.

Oh gosh, I am so paranoid with that. The media has been linking me up with everyone. First Neha, and then Neha Marda who was playing my sister, and then Masuma. I wasn't linked up with Anamika, well may be because she was on for a short time. But yea, I don't know where do people cook up stories from, I wouldn't be surprised if some channel links me up with the girl who is playing my daughter in the show. (laughter )

Are we going to hear wedding bells in real life too?

May be end of this year or starting of next year. (Pause)

Go on..

I am not going to reveal more than that right now.

How is it playing a father to a 20 year old?

It is difficult. Playing a father to a little boy like Krish was easy. I am trying hard to play a grown up guy. I've tried to work with my appearance on screen and trying to act like a father.

Any new projects coming up?

Well, I am talking to a few people right now. I cant really talk about it till things are confirmed. But yea, I guess it wouldn't be wrong to talk about this that I was offered the role of Shabd in Maayka. But the reason I opted out was that it was the same channel. Production houses manage the dates well with two shows running, but when it comes to different production houses, dates clash and it just gets messed up. I've seen my co actors facing that problem, so decided to opt out of it.

Any special moment you remember from all this while in Mamta?

Well, my most favourite is the scene before the accident, where I hand over Mamta's hand to Akshay and the temple scene with Mamta during Sid and Mamta's trip to Pune.

We keep hearing about how you, Anand, Neha get into a fight with each other and the production house, and the sets heat up almost every day, is that true?

Ha, no way. We all get along fine. Anand and I have never had any issues what so ever. And with the production house too. Come on ya, there are arguments here and there where ever you work, but the way a few newspapers have put it, it has been completely blown out of proportion.

You were skeptical about the leap. We got information time to time about Neha and Anand staying or going, but you were absolutely quite about the leap.

Yea, I was really not sure. In fact this my first interview regarding the leap. I wanted to be a part of the leap, only if the story is promising. And as far the story is acceptable, everything's cool.

Coming back to the story, answer the following:

Where is Masuma -

No idea

Is she coming back -

I honestly don't know

Who was shot in the fight sequence before the leap -

No clue. Well, Sid and Akshay are on TV, so we aren't shot, don't know if they killed Masuma or she'll be back.

Why was Mamta in and out of Sid's house more than five times in two weeks?

- that's the story, like I said, her character hit rock bottom.

Sadly, Ajay Krish does not seem to be enchanted with the way the story is progressing or playing a father to a 20 year old. We only hope that the creative team now really work to come up with a stellar storyline. We wish all the best to this suave actor for his upcoming projects.

Asylum or jail?

Is it time for the serial to get a twist? If yes, send the protagonist to the mental asylum or jail! That's the latest mantra in tellyland.
Look around and you'll find the leading ladies in a number of shows headed to either the asylum or prison. Now that's an age-old film formula, which Bollywood has stopped using, but the small screen clearly is lapping it up. Tulsi in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi was recently sent to the asylum by her daughters-in-law.
And, this was a very important track. The asylum became a centrepoint because it's from here that Smriti Iraani runs away and meets with an accident and new entrant Gautami Kapoor steps in!

The popular Bani of Kasamh Se - a character played by Prachi Desai - had to endure both. She was not only sent to the asylum, but also to jail. The writers probably felt the double dose of trauma was necessary to justify the metamorphosis of the simple Bani into a fighter for justice.

Renuka Shahane was sent to the jail in Jeete Hain Jiske Liye for a long period during which the show took a time leap. Jeete Hain . may have ended, but the jail did manage to garner Renuka a lot of sympathy from her loyal viewers. Saat Phere's Saloni too was sent to prison a few months ago. So was Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan's Saraswati and Dulhann's Vidya, among others from different family dramas. And now, sources say, Maayka's Neha Bamb may also soon be visiting the mental asylum or jail! And no points for guessing that there are similar twists being planned in other serials too. There's a common thread: In almost all cases there's been planning and plotting by the villains/vamps (mostly family members) to send the leading ladies to the dungeon and asylum. The unrealistic situations created by the negative characters aren't going down too well with the viewers. "They are bizarre. Totally crazy," says Manoj Kalra, who's forced to watch daily soaps on TV "as the womenfolk are glued to it" .

Even diehard fans of family dramas feel serials should come up with more original ideas than depend on old concepts from movies. "Where does one hear of a mental asylum these days?" says Sarojini Rajpal, a young housewife. "Today if somebody has a psychiatric problem you'd take him or her to a psychiatrist. This asylum or jail thing is a movie concept of yesteryears being recycled!" she laughs. Serials also seem to be overlapping with their common themes.
"Sometimes it seems like it's the same set of writers writing for various serials. It's like chalo isko jail bhejte hain aur usko pagal khana !" says Grishma Thakkar, a bank official. TV serial writers, however, don't agree. "Overlapping is just coincidence," says Rekkha Modi, writer for Kasamh Se, adding, "There are different writers for different shows." Talking about asylum and jail tracks she says, "It's all about drama. Audiences want drama and that's the only way they will be gripped to a show. It doesn't take too long for a viewer to switch channels. A serial is almost like making a half an hour film everyday which has to have all the essential ingredients."
So well, till TV serial makers come up with some other themes, viewers will have to digest these essential ingredients - asylum and the jail!

Vivan Bhatena
I want to wish everyone happy fathers day. I have lost my father few years ago and I really miss now and I have realized his importance now. I really value everything that he has taught me so far. I want to pass my message to all my fans that value your parents, learn from then enjoy their company, and their teachings and treasure each moment till you can.

India-Forums Tellybuzz wishes all its readers Happy Father's Day

It is rightly said that since god cannot be everywhere he has created parents for us. Lets read a small story on when God created Fathers..
When the good lord was creating Fathers, He started with a tall frame. And a female angel nearby said,"What kinda of father is that?If You're going to make children so close to the ground, why have You put fathers up so high? He won't be able to shoot marbles without kneeling, tuck a child in bed without bending over or even kiss a child without a lot of stooping."
And God smiled and said,"Yes but, if I make him child-sized, who would children have to look up to?"

Neha accused of throwing tantrums

However, the 'Maayka' actor feels that the production team's indiscipline is to be blamed

Actor Neha Bamb aka Mahi of 'Maayka' (Zee) is being alleged of throwing tantrums and not behaving cordially with her co-stars and production team. A source in the production house (Classic Productions) says, "When 'Maayka' had started, her behaviour was weird towards co-stars Arti Singh and Urmila Kanitkar. And now, new entrant Jasveer Kaur seems to be at the receiving end." The production team suspects that Neha could be feeling insecure about her track because of which she is behaving like this.

However when contacted, Neha refuted being insecure of her role and pointed out that her being un-cooperative was because the production team wasted the actors' time and caused undue delay. Neha says, "I am neither rude nor do I fight with anyone. The production team may talk about me being impolite because I do not wait beyond my scheduled time."

She adds, "The production team and the directorial team never seem to agree on anything. Everyday there are arguments on the sets and they keep us waiting for as long as six hours. They say they don't approve of the location after all actors have arrived on the sets; and then they take time to decide upon another location."

She continues, "After wasting our time thus, they expect us to wait for another six hours and shoot. I don't mind waiting on the sets for the time I am committed to them. But I don't agree if they expect me to wait beyond my scheduled time. I live far and need a lot of time to commute. Plus, I am particular about having 7 hours of sleep. "

Neha feels that television has increasingly become a frustrated industry. She says, "The atmosphere on the sets has become cranky. I do not argue anymore but my devotion level and interest level have sure gone down."

What Are The Prices of Stardom?

What are the prices of stardom and what are the views of some of our television's most popular stars on this issue. Find out about Neha Bamb, Pulkit Samrat and Twinkle Bajpaye's opinions on the prices of stardom....

Billions of glittery eyes filled with dreams look towards stardom as a sanctuary from the ordinary and average life. Many a few come to Mumbai with dreams of becoming the next Shah Rukh Khan or Rani Mukherjee or if not many times the next Tulsi, Parvati or Mihir. Autographs, lights, camera and so much attention come as a package once one becomes a star. But with such popularity comes a price! Privacy for one becomes a huge issue with the omnipresent media and paparazzi of today. We catch up with some of television's well-known faces to tell you what they feel about the prices that come with stardom.

The petite and beautiful, young actress of Maayka and Kaisa Yeh Pyaar hai fame Neha Bamb says, "Not only stardom but everything has a price! Today, even if you go out of home somewhere in another industry, you are paying a price. That price is staying away from home without your loved ones and family. But I feel I really have not paid a price for stardom. I have been very fortunate to have things the way I want them to be such as my privacy, my family and their support. Yes, I do agree that I am in a profession that is time consuming and probably the only disadvantage I see is the long hours of shooting required. However, for me it is like any other job where I have to put in hard work from my end. In fact I have never taken myself as a star. I just feel that I am going to work everyday and coming back home after having put in hard work. Fame obviously is a gain but since I do not see myself as a star, I don't consider it as a gain."
The handsome and suave Pulkit Samrat aka Lakshaya of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi fame says, "I don't think I have had to pay any price for stardom. I love what I am getting! I don't need my privacy! I don't need anything! I need a life where I am surrounded by security guards and when I go out, I want people screaming for me and to turn their head when I am walking out. I don't love my privacy and this is why I have entered industry so why should I ask for privacy. According to me there is nothing that I have had to pay for stardom."

The talented and versatile actress Twinkle Bajpaye of Lakshmi Ghar Ki Betiyaan fame says, "It is usually said that everything comes for a price! To get something you will have to give up something but I don't believe in that. I was told that when I get name and fame I will not be able to go out the way I do now, wont be able to shop freely but for me things have not changed much. I am living my life the way I was previously except the fact that I have to follow a certain living and dressing style, which I didn't have to worry about earlier. I really miss my hometown Luckhnow a lot but that's the price one has to pay to come to Mumbai. And now I love this city so much that I cannot think of settling anywhere else."

Looks like there is a price tag for everything in this commercial world we live in but our stars definitely have some very optimistic views towards the prices they have paid for stardom. Perhaps they see their gains through the recognition, appreciation and love they get from all their fans globally. So more than a price, stardom is a gift isn't it?

Actor Vikrant Rai's first ever plan of meeting his Canadian girl friend gets foiled as the serial producers ask for more dates

Actor Vikrant Rai who plays Jeet Khurana in 'Maayka' and Kshitij in 'Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan' (both on Zee) is crestfallen as his first ever plan of meeting his long distance Canadian girl friend Bhavna Bakshi has fallen through. Apparently, Vikrant was to leave for Canada in July and had been planning for it since February. He had informed the producers of both serials of his intention who had even approved his vacation. Everything was set until about a few days ago when he was told that he would be required to give more dates (for 'Gahr Ki...') in the coming month since his character would have more scenes to perform.

When contacted, Vikrant sounded dejected. He says, "Yes, it is quite sad. Bhavna and I hadn't met in two years. Hence I was excited about meeting her. I had promised her that the day I become someone, I will come to see her. This would have been my first trip abroad. But God had other plans for me."

Sharing his love story he says, "We had met three years ago at Kishore Namit Kapoor academy. I felt attracted towards her the moment I saw her. She is beautiful and I knew all the boys in the class liked her."

He continues, "But I was very strategic; I never revealed that I liked her. We became good friends but we started bonding only after the class got over and she moved back to her home in Canada. We kept in touch via phone and internet chats and gradually realised that we had fallen in love. It is a lovely feeling though surviving a long distance relationship is very tough. It is just the hope of uniting with her someday that keeps me alive."
