About Maayka Saath Zindhi Bhar Ka..

Mon - Thus 23:00
• About Show

Maayka ..begins with Ma or mother..in other words the house that reminds you of your mother. That seemingly ordinary door step, next to that invisible wall that seperates a woman's present from her past. One little step on the other side takes a 60 year old to her toddling years. It is often said that even if you leave your maayka after marraige you are always bound to it by some bitter, some sweet memories. Have you ever noticed how even the happiness in your sasural is dimmed when the maayka doesn't shine so brightly or how even the biggest problems seem easy enough to solve when you rest in the knowledge that everything is well back at home? That is Maayka for a woman..an eternal source of strength, courage and wisdom. Maayka..that house that has its arms, heart and door always open for a woman...This story is of 3 such daughters and their family..their home.. their Maayka.

ZEE TV is to rejig its schedule to strengthen its core peaktime programming. The launch of ZEE TV's new blockbuster drama will be taking place later this month.

With the arrival of ZEE TV's newest drama 'Maayka-Sath Zindagi Bhar Ka', there will be changes seen to the current schedule. From Monday 29th January, when the show goes live, the ZEE TV schedule will consist of the following:

ZEE TV, Sony & STAR Plus soap changes
Jan 05, 2007 09:27 AM

A lot of shuffling has been noticed in the January programme guides of the three major Asian TV channels -STAR Plus, ZEE TV and Sony. Could it be down to the fact that 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' is returning later this month?

STAR Plus
It has been confirmed that 'Karam Apna Apna' will continue on the channel but shifted to a new timeslot. Earlier reports suggested the soap was to wind down to make way for the Shah Rukh fronted gameshow. STAR Plus' other soap 'Virasat' however is moving to sister station STAR One. It will replace 'Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka' next month. Children's programme 'Antariksh' will also be ending next month.

ZEE TV
There are reports that 'Jab Love Hua' is being axed due to falling ratings. The drama will be replaced with the much awaited 'Maayka', which BizAsia.co.uk reported on last week. 'Jab Love Hua' will end later this month.

Sony Entertainment Television Asia
The channel is dropping 'Aisa Desh Hai Mera' after its little success. It will see 'Ek Ladki Anjani Si' move to the 21:00 slot. The channel recently launched 'Kuluvuddu'.

After being associated with Balaji Telefilms for close to two years, Neha Bamb — lead actress of the hit serial Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hain — is returning to the small screen once again in a lead role in the new daily soap Maykaa with another production house.
"Maykaa is a girl oriented show. It deals with the dilemma and problems faced by young girls. I am playing the lead character. She's cool, chilled out kind of girl. I took up this role because she is of my age, I can relate to the issues she would face," says Neha.

It's been three months since Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hain went off air and Neha was waiting for an offer. Luckily for her Anjana Sood, the creator of Maykaa, zoomed in on her. But the shoot was postponed due to financial issues. "I am enjoying my time on the sets. If the show had got delayed further, I would have gone to the South again as many Telugu movies are in the pipeline," says Neha. Her look in this serial is very different from her earlier hit. She plays a Punjabi girl who largely wears only salwaar kameez. News is Zee has assembled a big star cast for this show. But Neha isn't aware of many details as she's just begun shooting a few weeks ago.

Many say this serial is very similar to Zee's old show Amaanat. "Let the show air first, then start comparing. Why are you speculating? I agree the storyline of both shows concentrates on the father-daughter relationship and it's a Punjabi family, but they are different in their own ways," Neha clarifies. Does she miss Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hain? Any regrets leaving Balaji? "It was a good show and I adored being part of it. But everything that begins has to end; that is the rule of life. I feel good that it ended with good ratings rather than being cut off by the network.

"I have no regrets leaving Balaji. I learnt a lot during my stay there but they weren't generating enough roles for me. Every actor wants to work with a production house which gives him/her quality work," she said. Neha is also happy about the fact that in her latest serial, her voice hasn't been dubbed unlike in Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai where throughout it was dubbed. "It's upto the creators of the show. They felt in KYPH they needed a soft voice. My voice is husky, so they changed it. It felt weird, seeing myself on television and hearing someone else's voice but then I got used to it. In Maykaa, you will here my original voice again. That is another good reason for my fans to wait for my new serial," smiles Neha.

Neha Bamb's on a jet-setting spree

It's the status quo for a television actor to shoot for long hours, or move from one set to the other working in between shows.

However, Neha Bamb has redefined work habits for herself when she recently flew to Hyderabad for a Telugu film, only to report on the sets of her show Kaisa Ye Pyaar Hai the same evening.

High-flyer

Says Neha, "I have been doing South films for quite some time. Recently, I wrapped up the shoot for my new Telugu film with Siddharth (of Rang De Basanti fame).

It was crazy because I would take the 5.30 am flight out of Mumbai, and then report back in the city for my show in the evening at 7. It was really tiring, but I couldn't do much about it. I am required for most of the scenes in Kaisa… and there was no way I could let the show be affected."

Neha flew in and out of town for five days, till she completed her schedule for the film. On her experience working with Siddharth, she says, "He's an absolute gentleman. I was the only girl on the set and he would make sure I was comfortable. I am really looking forward to the release of this film."

On the personal front, Neha says she is ready to do more films as long as she can manage it with her television schedule. "Kaisa… has given me immense fame and adulation. I have definitely improved as an artiste."

Chatterbox

After visiting the UK and meeting her female fans, Neha realised many of them were emulating her dressing sense. "I have seen girls go to clubs in London wearing clothes similar to what I wear on the show. This puts additional responsibility on me, and I make sure that I look good."

About her much talked about tiff with co-stars Amit Tandon and Iqbal Khan, Neha says that they didn't become friends immediately. "So much has been spoken about my issues with Iqbal and Amit. The fact is that we did take time to become friends.

You don't expect someone to hug a total stranger and ask how's he doing on the first day of shoot. Today, Iqbal and I have to be told to keep quiet between shots as we keep chatting with each other."

Does she miss dating some one due to her hectic work schedule? "I am very open to the idea of dating. But I expect the person to respect my work and me. I am just 20, there's lot of time for love and other things to follow.

After Dulhan…Zee's ready with her Maayka

A fresh start to the New Year and Zee is ready with its new candidate to join the TRP race. We're talking about its brand new daily, Maayka - a story about three daughters and their family, which is positioned for the prime time 8.30 slot and will go on air from 15th January.

It also marks the comeback of Neha Bamb post her maiden show Kaise Yeh Pyar Hain. And as obvious she's very excited about it, "I am playing the youngest daughter in the show and the story captures the emotions of a family that has to see the daughter going to a new home. It's not the usual saas bahu saga where the story doesn't move beyond the usual skirmishes. Our story is more about the pain of separation from a girls and parents point of view. I had a great time shooting for the show and am awaiting the response of the audiences."

The show also boats of some established television and regional film personalities like Sudhir Pandey, Nandita Puri, Urmila Kanitkar and Aarti Singh.

Speaking on the launch of the serial, Ashwini Yardi, Programming Head Zee TV, said, "We have always taken up subjects that establish a strong connect with the viewers. Take Betiyann, Dulhann, Kasamh Se, Saat Phere, all deal with a pertinent issue. The theme is such that it brings us closer to the viewers. With Maayka, we are talking about the strong emotional bond that every daughter shares with her maternal home after her marriage." Ashvini further added, "The setting is that of a Punjabi family who is well settled. Brij Mohan is a traditional Punjabi businessman played by Sudhir Pandey and has Nandita Puri playing the part of his wife Moni Malhotra. Both are absolutely seasoned names in the circuit and are hugely popular with the audiences."

Will Zee accomplish in touching the chord with it's audience? Looking at the hype generated by some of its recent shows, the channel definitely seems to know the trick of the trade!

Who's watching what?

They work endlessly to keep us entertained. They glue us to the television screen with their histrionics. But, how many of us are aware about what our tele-celebs love to watch on the small screen?

Tellychakkar
corners some actors about their favourite television shows. Here is what they had to say:

Mini Mathur

I have given up watching soaps on television. I mean what do they show? Same old story. My favourite show on television these days is Bigg Boss. I find its theme different from the banality of saas-bahu stories. Amit Saad is my favourite on the show and Rakhi's presence adds a lot of interest to the show.

Neha Bamb

I don't find enough time to watch television these days since my work keeps me busy all the time. I used to watch Saarabhai Vs Saarabhai and thoroughly enjoyed its comic appeal. I would consider it as one of my favorites on television.

Mona Vasu

I am hooked on to Bigg Boss at the moment. I love watching Ravi Kissan and Carol Gracias on the show. Though I must admit that it gets boring sometimes. But, still I love to watch it for its different flavour.

Tanaaz Currim

My favourite show on television these days is Baa Bahu Aur Baby. I watch it because I find the show quite hilarious and also the fact that most of the actors in the show are my good friends. So, it makes a great thing watching your friends do such a good work.

Preeti Puri

I love to watch Shabaash India on Zee TV. It is very exciting to see people performing impossible tasks. Somewhere I consider it as a pointer to the infinite possibilities of the human mind. I make sure not to miss a single episode of the show.
