Over the weekend I remembered a story my mom once told me years back. I don't know what you would term it: parable, fable, cautionary tale, whatever. I remembered after I wrote my last post on the topic over the weekend. I didn't didn't feel like writing another post then. Anyway now I will.
The exact way my mom told me, I cannot recreate. But here goes.
There was a mongoose who was a pet mongoose. It was a loved and trusted mongoose. One day the mother left her young infant with the mongoose safely away from the banks of the river, while she did her laundry and other works along/in the river. When she came back, she saw the mongoose awaiting her, its mouth covered with bright red blood. Her heart broke, and anger filled her. She grabbed a rock gave the mongoose one hard blow, killing it. She rushes forward looking for her dead infant, and she finds her baby safe and sound. A couple of feet away was a snake, torn and ripped apart.
