I sense that Payal's actions had a domino effect on the entire show. Because of this I can't help but lose a little bit of respect for her. it doesn't seem like she acted professionally or considerately towards the show's fans or her fellow actors.

Pooja's track is inextricably tied to so many other characters: Shubha, Vinny, Mrindula, Trisha, Vasu, Kamini, and Karan. Because of Payal's actions, they are also going to be affected. Harsh and Kamini will probably be forced to exit the show as their roles depended on Pooja. Megha Gupta's character was probably brought on board to help Pooja in some way, so she is no longer needed. I think the only reason they introduced this Shivangi character is because Mrindula no longer had a role without Pooja. Vinny and Shubha are left up in the air for now, and Vasu and Trisha can't continue without them. In Sony's defense: Other shows have these ridiculous and far-fetched stories that take full creative license ignoring facts and creating impossible circumstances (people coming back from the dead, getting "plastic surgery," ghosts, God coming to earth, etc), so it is easier to cope when an actor quits. It doesn't have to be logical. In this show, there is more pressure to come up with a logical explanation within a limited amount of time, so I can see how it would be difficult to do when an actress like Payal quits at the climax of her character's story. However, having said that, they should just replaced her.

I think you hit the nail on the head KS. We watch LS for a compelling, realistic, and modern storyline...not due to the fanaticism towards certain actors, or a glamorous on-screen pairing. Other soaps have switched out or even killed off their lead actors and actresses, despite having some very passionate fans. Sure fans complain about it at first and threaten to stop watching, but they all get over it eventually. With LS, I don't think anyone would even care of Payal had been replaced because we are not interested in Payal, we are interested in her character's story. Instead of casting Sreejita as a new character, she could have replaced Payal. i'm not fond of her track so far. It doesn't seem to tackle the same kind of issues as the others or have the same depth. Pooja's story was an inspiration. It showed that a woman can find strength and courage to defend herself, and that she does not have to bow down to an abusive relationship. It even showed that a divorced woman can still find love and happiness. Geeti's track could have been much more compelling if the outcome wasn't such a fizzle. And I actually did find Mrindula to be a potentially interesting character, if only because of her disinterest in marriage. That is not something we commonly get to see in soaps. Instead we hear the same old dialogues about how a woman's happiest moment is when she gets married. A woman's greatest happiness is the birth of her child. As someone who also has no interest in marriage, it was refreshing for me to see my own perspective finally get some acknowledgment.

Unlike useless shows like Choti Bahu and Maayka, where the characters start out weak, continue to be weak throughout the show, and end up weak with absolutely no depth or personal growth, Pooja's character has developed significantly over time. She has gone from being meek, fearful, and docile to being a woman of great courage and strength. It's too bad they didn't see this transformation through.

Unfortunately I find LS to be increasingly unpalatable. It is deeply disappointing, as this is the type of show I have been waiting for and there will be nothing else quite like it. If Choti Bahu ended, I wouldn't care, because whatever show comes to replace it will no doubt be exactly the same, but this show is absolutely unique and irreplaceable.

Well said Rainabow. You have put everything so well...
I agree that Payel's actions has had an effect on the other actors. Actually Nanda's track had more or less ended. And so did Shubha's track with Trisha being accepted into the family. They could have had Shubha's and Nanda's track run parallel to Pooja's. But I am not sure why they didnt do that. Maybe because as koolsadhu thinks neither tracks were glamourous enough. They never really focussed much on Trisha's equation with Vinny, Vasu and Shubha. Just made it apparent that Shubha and Trisha are friends so all's well! But there was a lot more that could have been done with Trisha's entry into the lives of the Joshis. Nanda's track we have discussed many times so I will not repeat it again except to say that they could have shown Geeti get bail and continued with the track paralell.
So after Shubha's and Nanda's track ended they somehow tried to connect Pooja's track with them to keep them in the picture. While connecting Shubha to Pooja thru Vinny was more natural, Mridula's connection to Nanda looked forced. Also I didnt understand the point of connecting Geeti and Trisha. But what's sad about Payel's exit almost all the characters too have made an exit as they are somehow linked with Pooja and without her in the picture their continuance would looked forced. I dont believe they will show Shubha, Vinny, Trisha, Vasu, Karan or Kamini any more. Mridula, Nanda and her family also seem to have made an exit. I guess Mridula was brought in as some sort of option for Vinny so that he has a choice to chose between divorcee like Pooja and a single girl like Mridula. Plus Mridula was also involved with some NGOs so she could have helped out Pooja with legal recourse against Karan.
The show I feel had really good actors and tracks but Pooja's track definitely stood out in the sense that its very different. Mother fighting to save her daughter or a woman dealing with her husband's infidelities have been done before but physical abuse of women in marriage is very common all over the world. Yet Indian television which supposedly covers so many women related issues has never really covered the issue of physical abuse. Whatever torture is shown in saas-bahu shows is more of a mental variety. And invariablly the husband changes for the better. But here was Karan a complete gone case and there was Pooja a meek, traditional small town girl. Someone who has been taught that husband is the ultimate person in her life. So it was interesting to see how her character first builds up the courage to rebel against her husband's atrocities and go to the law. And then make the same mistake many women who tolerate physical abuse do ie think he's changed. At this point the flow of the story was broken by Payel's disappearance. Why on earth did they not replace her then itself for such unprofessional behavior?
Btw maybe we should be fair to the makers too. We are talking about some tracks fizzling out...I think one reason might have been pressure from the channel. Maybe the channel thought those tracks were not glamourous. I wonder the decision to not continue with Pooja's track by replacing Payel was also the channel's. Instead of that they got in a love story which takes after Sathiya which in their opinion would be more popular. But frankly the abrupt start of the track has not let me connect to the track. Moreover there is nothing really unique in Srijita's track.
Overall its really a sad state of affairs in the show as well as LS because rainabow has put it very well:Unfortunately I find LS to be increasingly unpalatable. We truly are not going to get a show like LS in the near future. Too bad that Indian Television hardly has anything for me to watch!

Exactly Shreya. What you said about abusive husbands "changing" for the better is an extremely dangerous message to send to women. Men like Karan are sociopaths. They are MENTALLY ILL. Women like Pooja's mother seem to think that when a man like Karan behaves like this, it is up to Pooja to rectify the situation. All the pressure falls on the woman to "fix" the relationship yet no blame is placed on the abusive man. Unfortunately, this seems to be a very common belief, especially among older women and in small towns. But the longer a woman waits for things to get better, the more she risks her life AND the lives of those around her. Women need to know that, especially those women who are small town girls like Pooja.

So looking at today's update, It seems as though this Shivangi track has consumed the entire show. Babli got maybe five minutes of air time and the rest of the original cast is gone. If Babli ends up dying, who will be left? They should change the name and just make it a new show, and consider LS finished. This is very disappointing. I no longer have the patience to sit through crap like Choti Bahu, hopelessly waiting for a one dimensional character like Radhika to evolve. I don't think there is anything left on Indian TV for me either, except perhaps AKA...and even that show has seen much better days.

Shivangi's track has definitely consumed the whole show. As per yesterday's update now Shivangi is going to stay with Babli. I know Babli is kind hearted but she hardly knows Shivangi who could be a crook. 😲
Btw coming to shows like CB even I sometimes (gulp!) watch it. Rather than waiting for Radhika to develop an ounce of of self respect I guess I watch as someone would watch an accident site...with horrified fascination at the going ons. And Im sure I am not alone. How else would you explain the fact they take one whole episode to make the bride walk from her room to the mandap and the episode gets the highest trps!

😆 😆 😆

Absolutely true! No shame necessary: I also watch on occasion when my mom is watching, but somewhere between the bedroom and the mandap I lose interest and zone out. I think that usually happens around the time they zoom in on the 6th face with that thunder sound effect 😕

Babli is one of those people who always sees the best in everyone, so I'm not surprised at her actions, naive and irresponsible as they may be. She could have at least gone to a cafe with her and had a cup of coffee first.

You too! I am also tortured by my mom's fascination for CB. Though at a certain level even I understand that fascination. 😈I thought they would take another episode to lift the ghoonghat. But to my shock the ghoonghat was lifted in one scene! But alas soon as the veil lifted the trps fell. 😭
Babli offering Pooja to stay with her was more natural..but simply taking Shivangi home without knowing her was a little foolish.

Guys , I think we shud give the Shivangi track a chance . It really doesn't seem to be that bad .........Im getting interested in it .
I think we can excuse Babli on this one as she is dying and that changes everything ........literally everything . The normal practical behaviour takes a backseat and as it is Babli was never shown to be practical .
The most irritating part yesterday was the boys mom blackmailing him with her sucide attempts , not giving a thought as to what will happen to the girl he has married , has her son physically consummated the marraige ?If so the girl's life will be destroyed ........but hey , the boys mom wants to build her daughter's happiness on the death of another girl's joy .
I would like to see this one and post a real caustic one when the boy gives in . He already has .

^^^ Agree with you didi, I was disgusted by Abhay's mom's & mausi's behaviour...so typical! Poor guy was cornered...let us hope this turns out be an interesting track & not a saas-bahu serial...

I am under the impression that he is only giving in as a temporary measure to keep his family members from doing anything foolish until he figures something out, but I don't think he will ultimately go through with it. At least I hope not.

I think I'm going to get creamed for saying it, but sometimes wish Indian kids like Abhay and Shivangi would follow the example of American couples. For an American couple hoping to get married, it's always nice to get the parents' blessings, but if they don't get them, that's just too bad. They move on, get married, and start their own lives and their own family. I must say 90% of the time, the parents eventually get over it, especially when a grandchild is born. They realize their children are adults and can make their own decisions. I know this is probably viewed as disrespectful and selfish in Indian culture, but it's ultimately just practical in Shiv and Abhay's case. As long as they already went through with the wedding without their parents' consent, they may as well just break away completely and live their own lives. No mother worth her salt blackmails her child like that, and burdens them with that kind of guilt. Did she ever think of her sons' state if she had succeeded? What mother seeks revenge on her own child? Talk about selfish and disrespectful.

I do not oppose this track as being a part of Ladies Special, I just don't like the way it has come at the expense of several other more compelling, longstanding, and unfinished tracks. Water under the bridge, I suppose.
