Hey Guysss...
I know its my walk in the memory lane after a long time but aaj pata nahi kyun, LTL and the forum, bahut yaad aa raha tha!! Remembered all my friends here on forum, all the fun moments n nok jhok and ofcourse, humaari phulwaari - Dutta!! 😉
Hence, thought of dropping by, saying a big Hiee and checking on my old friends. I am not sure, how many of you are still here... 😛
And now that I have dropped from nowhere, I see that THIS forum will be closed soon. 😕😲 ... I never thought this forum will ever be closed for all the memories it engulfs... I guess I never let tht thought go active in my mind...and well past its closure, I will visit its archieves!! 😉😛
Anyways, lack of Indian television in my life (Is there anything to watch?? 😲), and reminiscing LTL days, while driving my train of thoughts travel in loads of direction and I brooded a lot on why LTL was special...what made it stand out... and I had to discuss it with my ever brooding buddies... So, put on ur thinking caps and tell me -
1. How did LTL stand out from other super hit shows in Indian Industry
2. What would you wanna see in LTL Sequel?
3. What was that one moment when LTL started taking a downhill? (Please no bashing, just 1 sentence desc)
4. How much does a touching song help a touching scene elevate? Is a touching song mandatory for a soul ripping scene or optional? Would it help the scene from sinking if the actors are not doing justice?
5. Lately, CVs surfing around forums have become fab. They want to hear the audience verdict. How much should a CV take inputs from the forum members? Should he decide the story line based on the forum inputs? Should he decide complete future track based on the member's suggestion or should he still trust his creativity? What model do you like - "complete surrender to Forum's feedback" or "Read, listen but trust your instincts and creative juices"
I would give my responses later on but I wanna hear from one of the most intelligent viewer group that I have come across!!
I miss good shows and good talent on Indian Television that I am ready to start a LTL sequel if Mishal would sign up!! 😆😆...
Miss you all loads... Hoping to hear from the veterans!!
Love,
DD (Ah ha! feels like ages since I used my trademark!)
and yes, my all time LTL Naara -
AS is BH!! 😆

Ah...the whole evening I had Dutta's 'Ayeee Ladki!' drifting in and out of my mind for some random, odd reason and here's a post titled just that, nostalgia :) The beautiful, sad nostalgia that LTL's left behind in its wake...

Very interesting questions, DD...looking forward to reading the different opinions on this...

@DD - Ah! that telepathy thing. I do have somewhat of a six-sense and oh! so wish I did have telepathy, LOL just like everybody else on this planet. Way past midnight where I am but checking on Zuby"s birthday thread, geez!, I need to get a life this late hour but don't have much time during the day and voila! there you are with the Nostalgia.

I bet, you would absolutely without a doubt get the oldies and all the newcomers more actively participating if there was an LTL2 with the original casts.
Unique was this storyline, one needed to understand the subtleties of each characters' mannerisms and emotions and the need for the repitition of some of the tracks as the story progressed to truly understand this benchmark serial, and that is only up to a point.
The story and the characters' intrinsic personalities took a downward turn somewhere towards the end of the Damodar track. Still though, even with the missing and incomplete pieces to the storyline and the unanswered questions, the audience were still mesmerized with the story and some of the suprisingly amazing episodes the CVs delivered.
What I would have wanted to see more of and I believe with the expectations from most people nowadays, that this show could have touched on many more social issues as they tried to do in a subtle way and especially with the undertones of corruption, female slavery and social status which is always in the limelight but being addressed more in present time as the media is more prevalent in almost everyhome.
The subtle romance this show had was most satisying to most of the LTL1 fans across all ages and most certainly one could feel its effects without the intense display some shows put on to raise their TRPs and IMO parents/adults did not and would not feel uncomfortable watching with youngsters.
IMO, songs and background music are not always required especially if the actors/actresses deliver powerful dialogues as in the case of MR and Mahhi in her earlier Naku-Sherni scenes.
I believe it would be very difficult to change storylines based on the audience feedback for many reasons that most of us do not understand as we are not qualified and experienced in this line of business but I do feel that there would be an enormous difference in holding an audience attention if the writers and casts had much more collaboration and input on a daily basis.

nostalgia really a deep sad nostalgia...😭
i miss ltl ..Indian TV television lack of shows which stands on higher standard...
first of all great risk by channel n producer to make show which was out of the box...LTL was first show i watched becoz of its uniqueness...no saas bahu drama no common issues like other shows⭐️... not only "AYE LADKI " ... but also "aye naku " or "BAJI GADI NIKAL" keep echoing in my mind.😆..i would love to see LTL sequel on if mishal is there ... he is reason for watching ltl off-course..😳😉with some new talent and brand new plot ...
😉mishal leaving show was biggest damage ... song sequence make show go up by some influencing factors ... like actor ...requirement of scene...song choice..well for me music is really effecting medium if it used intelligently ..at end its directors choice and policies...music can make scene up but actor should be strong to grip plot n scene..unless its like watching blank faces with background music...🤢...yes Indian audience is quite a old school ...so scene should be keeping both parent n youngsters in mind...that what LTL did keeping balancing between romancing n story line...everyone LTL with so much ease ..NO EXTRA ROMANCING FOR TRPS...sweet n simple ...i love it the way it was..
i wished CV could have done search on forum while letting mishal leave😡... whole disaster would have been stop...well forum are limiting number of people there are tons audience around whole world...yes they should take views from forums and i know there are doing it time to time now... at end writers n other artist should not bend there own creativity... i know how a artist n others departments work for show handle that much of pressure ... its hard to work when anyone one got so much input..if writers wouldn't have think out of box ..we could have missed the EPIC LTL ...i think nowadays audience is mature enough of to give chance to talent n creativity... when people accept the show then sudden change in cast can cause bashing off course...at end both matter equally but i like to give little edged to creativity,,,😳 well that my slight views ...i would like here more form others too 😛

Dd very interesting points...
welcome back to ur forum, nice to see veterans showing interest in d forum n holding fond memories of the show.
LTL to me holds a special place due to a combination of reasons. I was instantly struck with the powerful portrayal of DSP n Mishal,s performance. The added attraction was it was no saas bahu type show nor it was another family drama. It was more like a blockbuster movie which encompassed every aspect . There was love, dhoka , family
drama n above all it was d story of
two individuals coming together, one a
powerful don with a bitter

past but a golden heart, the
other a
slum dweller battling
challenges

in a unique way
by hiding one,s
identity to just
lead a
respectful
life.,but

both with the baggage
of a
difficult
past.
The added

attraction for me with d
show
was its outdoor locations, cameos

outdoing one another with their brilliant
performances..i can just go
on..

As to the songs being added to double the impact of the
emotional sequences, it can be
both ways. LTL was blessd with
some intelligent handling with
songs. Some
of the most
memorable songs being Amber pe
milte hain,
Saajana so
on...

If the CVs visiting d
forum is indeed true, it should help
them in understandg audiences
choices n get a reality
check of
the show,s popularity. This should
not affect any
bold attempts at
experiments

With regards to
a sequel, i believe it would be an
uphil task even if MR roped in as d
lead. The show had changed course
after MR,s exit n lost its originality.

Many thanx Dd for a thought
provoking thread.

Hi DD...it's so good to see you after all these days!
Co-incidentally, even I am plagued by nostalgia since a couple of days...couldn't stop myself from watching a few LTL scenes in YT. And the bittersweet memories that come rushing back everytime...
I'll try to answer your questions tomorrow.

Hi DD! 😊 Yes, AS is BH...only the idea got lost somewhere deep inside the brains of the creatives and it was never shown. Sigh.

Hey Guysss...

1. How did LTL stand out from other super hit shows in Indian Industry
The other shows didn't have Suds, did they? see, LTL did. 😛 Okay, kidding...but seriously, LTL did come up with better villains then other shows. I think that was a plus. And that thing about it being based on a true story was intriguing.

2. What would you wanna see in LTL Sequel?
Ask me what it is that I don't want to see. I don't want to see:
Babi with pallu in mouth. Ever.
Excessive fainting from you know who.
Purohitji
bodyguards who think they're just here for a cup of tea.
Talk...talk...talk. And no action. *cough* *Kishore* *cough*
Bachelor parties
Dutta ka gadhepan

Now having gotten that out of my system, I admit there's plenty I do want to see. Too many to put down so I'll just give one: I'd love to see someone who is a girl in Baaji's life who is not like a sister to him. 😉

3. What was that one moment when LTL started taking a downhill? (Please no bashing, just 1 sentence desc)
I wont go there...🤓

4. How much does a touching song help a touching scene elevate? On a scale of 1-10 with ten being the highest, I say anywhere between 1-10. 😛 Is a touching song mandatory for a soul ripping scene or optional? It's absolutely optional. Good dialogue and great acting are enough to rip my soul out. 😆 Would it help the scene from sinking if the actors are not doing justice? It would have all my attention since I'd be listening to the song and ignoring the scene. In a way it helps since I won't be turning it off.

5. Lately, CVs surfing around forums have become fab. They want to hear the audience verdict. How much should a CV take inputs from the forum members? Take all the input they want...just make sure the story will still make sense. Should he decide the story line based on the forum inputs? No. They should use their imagination to come up with good story lines instead of just feeding the fantasies of their viewers. Every audience appreciates a good show. Should he decide complete future track based on the member's suggestion or should he still trust his creativity? Of course he should trust his creativity...that's not to say that he ignore what could be a wonderful track suggested by a member. Smart creatives will recognize a good idea when they come across it. What model do you like - "complete surrender to Forum's feedback" or "Read, listen but trust your instincts and creative juices" Definitely the latter model.

[DD] oops!! Zuby's bday is it? I shld jump to tht thread too :) ... yep, my work's keeping me busy but Nostalgia is what it is!!! 😉
I bet, you would absolutely without a doubt get the oldies and all the newcomers more actively participating if there was an LTL2 with the original casts.
[DD] You bet! I am sure in the night when we pray to bed, somewhere our subconscious shouts... "LTL, Once more, Once more" .. 😛
Unique was this storyline, one needed to understand the subtleties of each characters' mannerisms and emotions and the need for the repitition of some of the tracks as the story progressed to truly understand this benchmark serial, and that is only up to a point.
[DD] Very good points Aneesa... I think all of us enjoyed and understood the eternal journey becasue we understood each character and why they behaved the way they did...And most of the way, the CVs stayed true to the character. That isnt true in oher shows where the best of the character culd suddenly turn sinister! ... but the most unique point of urs that struck me here is the "repition of the tracks". I didnt think of this earlier but you are band ON... This story badly needed loads of "Deja Vu" moments to give our "Gadha" some Ah ha moments!...
[DD] Yeah, I guess u r right... after Damodar's track, the actual chaos actually started. I remember I started making guest appeareances after Naku's face off.
[DD] Hmmm... I think the show's sole focus was on the treatment meted by dark/ugly under-privileged girls and when Dutta became a hit, the show urned its focus on the love story in all honesty!!! So, would you wanna see Dutta, Naku fighting few social evils?
The subtle romance this show had was most satisying to most of the LTL1 fans across all ages and most certainly one could feel its effects without the intense display some shows put on to raise their TRPs and IMO parents/adults did not and would not feel uncomfortable watching with youngsters.
[DD] I so agree! You could feel the intensity of their love with mushy, cheesy lines or touch!...and when the confession really happened, it didnt seem chessy but so epic!!!... BTW, I didnt see their culmination scene if there was one... I am sure it wuld have been shot in the most asthetic manner possible! But yeah, the CVs stayed true to their promise of epic and eternal by keeping the workdly things at bay in their love...
IMO, songs and background music are not always required especially if the actors/actresses deliver powerful dialogues as in the case of MR and Mahhi in her earlier Naku-Sherni scenes.
[DD] but if the actors are not at the top of the game? would the sold elevate the scene?
I believe it would be very difficult to change storylines based on the audience feedback for many reasons that most of us do not understand as we are not qualified and experienced in this line of business but I do feel that there would be an enormous difference in holding an audience attention if the writers and casts had much more collaboration and input on a daily basis.
[DD] Hmm... I kinda agree with you here... I feel its a big misake to decide your future track or modify the current track based on the forum inputs... The writer shoudl trust his instincts bcoz if its not working, he anyways would have a short shelf life!! and the natural writers will deliver the story without comprimising on their creativty... I know 2 shows that didnt know how to extend a soap and created threads on IF to ask the forum members to tell them what they would like to see... and they wuld get inputs from inexperienced minds such as show us the protaganist being irresponsible...and the CVs showed the protaganis sleeping on the couch all along, not working n finally his family kicking him out of the house... there was no edge cuting drama, no problem, no solution... just 2 proaganist getting cosy wheher in the house or out of it... Needless to say, the show was a big flop!
