It was just a month back that I was searching for Kashish's videos on net! I remember each and every episode of tht show vividly!
tintin: Usually, I too know the ending when I write my story but the last OS, I wrote, I couldnt see the ending till Part 4, and then suddenly, the end just clicked and then my brains didnt let me change my end. No matter how much my readers pleaded me to change the end, I couldtn because I couldnt see any thing else but that. So,It was a different case with me....and on "playing with the gallery", I dont write long FFs and hence, I might not be able to play the gallery but the short stories/OSs that I write, I know what I want to write hence, there is never any room for playing with my characters....However, I would love to experiement with #4 too.

I think the main problem with serials is they start with a story which has a beginning...but it never has a ending. So we rarely get a decent logical finish. Like LTL could have ended MR's track nicely. But for some reason they decided to drag their feet and rush the end in a week's time. They could have easily satisfied all of us and still given Dutta's character a similar exit.

Word ksh.
I really felt cheated. First they drag tracks which are getting nowhere, introduce unnecessary ones and then finally fail to develop the main/vital plot due to poor planning.
I remember watching some of the initial episodes of YPNHK..it started of differently but soon turned into saas bahu drama.

@tintiny
I am no writer but your post does make a lot of sense even to a lay person like me... specially the ending part..at least you know in which direction the story is heading. In most professions we have a set goal to achieve and work towards it. Though variations and changes in approach are at times a required...the Big picture does not change much.

@ Niki
Allocating a fixed number of episodes to a serial would be great because then it would lead to more competition and hence better quality. Popular serials could be back with different seasons as pointed out by Suvi.

I think having a fixed number of episodes is great! A lot of Pakistani dramas have a certain amount of episodes and eventually end. The idea of seasons is also great, at least one season concludes logically and if the show is popular it'll come back again for another season. This way the story can be played out in a good manner. The story doesn't change abruptely in most cases.

Nikita! you here! Welcome back!🤗
Btw another rocking show enjoyed reliving recently was Flop Show. That show must be 20 years old but surprisingly the issues covered are relevant till today. Doesnt look dated at all. Unfortunately in India broadband speeds are slow and watching shows on YT are a task. But I am searching for new shows now...for starters decided to watch the two new shows on Imagine...ads of both looked interesting. But Imagine as a channel usually loses its way so I'll be cautious.

@Ivy: I remember YPNHK was promoted a lot more than LTL as people liked the sweet looking couple. But somehow the channels wanted more trps and started interfering. The show needed different handling vs LTL which had lots of scope for drama due to larger than life characters.

True Ksh. There are so many unexplored tracks in LTL with Dutta's (aka Mishal) character alone that could be developed successfully.

See when Kasamh Se started it was a story about three sisters, and then it turned into a jealousy act between two sisters and then two soutans when Meera, Jai Walia's 2nd wife was introduced....the whole story line got jeopardised....what is the point in that....
They could have stuck with three sisters, their ups and downs and ended the serial on a nice note...
In LTL, they have not explored on Madhu and Dutta's relationship, Baji with Roops or Madhu...the sisters and Madhu...I am sure if such things would have been shown as actors the cast would have got many things to do instead of standing like statues most of the time...we also would have got one interesting story....

Totally agree wid you the serials today are more inclined towards adding mirch and masala to serials. It's a pity that our so called professional makers have to depend on such petty concepts for achieveing success. But frankly the auntijies type audience do prefer such weird twist and turns rather than a sensible storyline.Ltl earlier did not cater to such type of audience but now i think the ch is shifting towards providibg entertainment to these section of audience🤢

They say Mahabharat is the longest epic on this earth, even in Mahabharat there are so many other stories and sub plots where the Pandavas or Kauravas are not present...inspite of that those stories are equally interesting and true to life too... but then we do not what a Mahabharat for it is one and only.....all we want is a good wholesome story with clean entertainment....
