Vamps of yore like Komolika, Ramola, Pallavi have been there and done that and more. Only difference between Kala and them are the writers of LTL have delved a bit more into Kala's psycology which writers of K shows have mostly refrained from except maybe in Pallavi's case.

I've watched zillions of Kshows too and I can safely say that AG is a cut above the rest.....yes there have been iconic villains over the years in Kshows....but AG's voice modulation is on a whole another level....for that alone she deserves every award.....the basic makeup (character-wise) is the same on the generic levels but Kala has far more layers to her than the average villain.....and her reasons for taking her revenge are not so chindi as they are for most vamps.....AG brings a sort of fierce pride to Kala.....and the villains in LTL are given such charisma on paper firstly and then the actors add to that.....in the case of Kala especially, AG's tremendous screen presence goes a longgggggg way in making the character iconic to me.

If there is any other actor apart from MR in this show who has that AURA to them that every glance also becomes a STATEMENT.....it is AG.

I think Chaskar stuck to Kala initially as they had a greater purpose to finish off Dutta. They new ET want that even now but they disagree on each other's methods. Kala is fortifying herself as she knows Dutta HAS to come after her one day or another...he has no choice with his family held hostage and also his reputation and ego would take a beating if he keeps quiet and lets her be.
Chaskar on the other hand would rather go abt what he started...ie finish off Dutta and then try to establish himself. He may again join hands with Kala if he feels that will help him finish off Dutta. But now I am sure both Suds and Chaskar have no illusions that Kala with let anyone else rule. Once Dutta is dealt with they have to tackle Kala next.

Ksh, we will agree to disagree I guess 😊 I have watched all of those shows, especially Kasauti and Kahani in depth, and none of those 'vamps' have had the panache and finesse (in physical execution and even character depth) that Kala does. I also don't think that Kala can be categorized among the run of the mill 'vamps' because her character is much more justified and shaded than that...she is much more intricate and AG's portrayal is neither joker-like and nor OTT on the other end...she manages to bring an amused and theatrical flair to the character at the same time as highlighting that killer and psychological instinct.

Then we will have to agree to disagree! The villian that has stood out to me from the K shows has been Pallavi played by Shweta Kawatra. I havent seen AG anywhere close to her. And Shweta as Pallavi didnt even need the makeup to pass off as bad.

And just to add.....Pallavi from KGGK was a totally different kind of villain cuz KGGK was a different show.....the makeup is not an issue....those things are dependent on characterization....Pallavi didn't have scope for THAT kind of theatrical effect........What LTL is and the kind of SCOPE that it has for a villain like Kala.....and the way AG has taken the material to another level with her stupendous talent for that amused/theatrical flair like Fatty pointed out....it's one of a kind.

Most K-soap vamps are known for their sarcastic one-liners poking fun at the sati-savitri bahus blah blah.......but AG's meethi chhuri portrayal of Kala.....doesn't feel caricaturish yet has that FLAIR.....I really admire that. The way KALA does her machiavellian planning and messing with ppl's heads....it's on a different level😆

Actually, when Kala came down the stairs in her princess pink saree (😆), I thought there was one shot where a group of the men sitting together on one side were looking at her in a sort of leechy way! 😕 And that wouldn't be too far-fetched either...they're all probably those types anyways.
Now THAT would make sense. Obviously so far didnt have to face leechy men due to Dutta's presence. But now with Dutta gone...it would make sense. But apparently we are to believe all the underwrold dons of India are taken in by Kala Taisaheb beauty and brains that they agree to be her vassals.

A new rival to give Kala a reality check sounds good, Ksh 😆 But then they already have so many characters to alternate between and weave the story with...and half of them aren't even being used much. Plus if a new rival came, his battle with Kala would take on too much importance and then Kala vs. Dutta might be watered down in comparison and effect...I guess they're saving that clash as the biggest point so to make it happen, Kala's business abilities as 'Tai Saheb' are given dheel 😆
Yes...they may not want to lose focus of the Kala-Dutta confrontation. So perhaps they can have Chaskar as the challenger to Taisaheb. But he is too much of a small fry to challenge Kala.

In bold: Our Komolika mai used to do the same. Kala I feel is a khichdi of many K villians...decently potryaed by AG but nothing new in what she does as an actress or as a character.

LOL dude.....AG's makeup bothers you so much when Komolika mai was like the QUEEN of garish makeup??😆.....Now THERE was a woman difficult to watch onscreen with her blindingly garish makeup sometimes😆.....Kala/AG seems like the ultimate class act if you compare her to that....compared to Komo toh Kala has like NO makeup on😆

No, I've watched KZK extensively.....Komolika's machinations were different....enacted differently by Urvashi Dholakia too....she's a fine actress and Komo has been one of my fav. entertaining villains too but....now SHE was a caricature.....Kala is NOT....there is the difference. And AG's portrayal is what makes the difference.....she is a stupendous actress I feel....and it is Kala that has given her that scope.....otherwise she was lost in the crowd of weepy bahus.

I guess we just have very different ways of looking at it.....I can see a tremendoussssssss amount of genius in AG's acting....each glint in her eye, each arch of her eyebrow, each smirk.....she does it in a way that makes me admire watching the character.....so to me, AG has been exceptional in this role.

Like I said...Kala is a mixture of many K villians like Komolika, Ramola etc. The manipulativeness...hunger for power...narcissm...the makeup. Personally I feel AG makeup wise was better in her initial days in LTL where she had classy makeup on. And no I am not a huge fan of either Komolika's or her makeup. Nor I am I a fan of her acting-wise. Kala has had better predecessors.
