Gosh, I never thought that I would ever end up lauding a character I have loved to hate ever since I let a certain Dutta Sriram Patil take over the course of my otherwise very rational thinking. True that my different threads where I expounded at length about why Seema did not deserve Dutta's forgiveness slowly evolved until yesterday when I, finally, made peace with Seema after witnessing the human/sisterly solicitude extended towards Nakusha when she fainted in the temple. That was despite the fact that she knew that Dutta was in grave danger all alone on that pier. This one scene did trouble my conscience the whole night and I had decided by this morning that I would want the CVs to turn her character positive. As she had endured enough to be given full pardon and not be pushed back the throes of hell just because she would want to take revenge on being rejected after having given up on a life of sin with the hope that she would have, finally, earned the right to claim love or whatever love may mean to her.
Who knows what the CVs have in store tomorrow as to Seema's demeanour in the face of the real danger she faces amidst the new ET. But that positivity or altruistic streak which she has displayed in the last two-three weeks was by no means deceptive. She did pray to regain the happiness she now craves and her plea to God to help her find a little place in Dutta's life will never be answered. We should feel empathy for her as her situation in LTL is very realistic when we stop to think of the number of young women who fall in material traps and end up living a depraved life, not out of choice but by compulsions of varyin nature. Some are even victims of abuse and are rejected by society at large. Seema clinging to her past as we saw in her flashbacks today was and should be interpreted as her attempt to put at rest the demons that have plagued her ever since she gave up on innocent love. And who better than the person she loved that she tried to win over again after fate decreed that Dutta and Seema were to meet to give each other the mutual opportunity of final redemption.
I was scared that she would be heavily influenced by the downbeat news that Dutta is a married man, and that too to her soul sister as Nakusha has finally turned out to be, and turn negative. Instead, she was shown as someone who has really evolved as a person to let go finally and wish Dutta and Nakusha happiness at last. Her very private redemption in front of God in a temple during the moments she stands and watches Nakusha's embrace was symbolical of God's mercy and a gentle reminder to all those (including me) who let our emotions take over whenever we saw Seema trying to get close to Dutta, that even the Sinner has the right and ability to repent and make good what they would have destroyed by their thoughtless acts.
Seema, by virtue of the selfless act of taking control of the escape route in favour of Dutta and Nakusha that she acknowledges together by addressing them has, also confirmed the fact that Dutta has been really blessed by destiny in that he seems to be like the proverbial flame that attracts all the good souls (read moths) around him. We have seen that with Nakusha who saw nothing but a saviour in him despite all the atrocities against her, Baaji, a loyal friend who never gave up on his friendship despite Dutta's abuse, Aayi Saaheb maternal adoration for the son she adopted despite his parentage, Damodar Patil who breathed his last by pledging him a sense of humanity in spite of the grave sins committed against his own blood, and now Seema who in this Mandir scene and during the period she nursed him back to health, somehow reconnected with the young girl of eighteen who loved candy floss and simple joys such as those ordinary bangles in the local market.
Today belonged to Tasha, undoubtedly, but Seema's generosity of spirit and her tears in front of the Goddess in the temple before she takes matters in her hands to ensure D&N's escape should be given due recognition. Today also belongs to her because she has given in to REAL LOVE that she witnessed along with everyone present on the temple grounds.
I am not being the Devil's advocate and this is no longer a neutral POV. I just hope and pray that CVs do not go astray with her character again.
Specifically for Elysia 😉
