Babi did arati of Ganapati ji, I hope now Naku and Bhau are one….hamare maann rakhna Bappa Ayi Sahib ke samne, she has helped me a lot and I hope I can somewhat repay her favours through Naku…Babi turned to see Ganpath snoring with his mouth open, he was drunk has been drinking the moment the cars left the house for the village, with Bhau gone Ganpath did not have anybody to be afraid of….

Babi picked up a glass of water and threw it on his face, areh uth, get up, Bhau is returning, kuch toh sharam kar ki damad akar iss halat me dekhega tujhe….uth ja abhi….

Areh Babi $#@&^...

Chup, Chup…I am going to the kitchen to make dinner for them, take a bath and get ready to receive them, if you again fall asleep remember mujhse bura koi nehi hoga….

Sampath disconnected the phone and came out of the PCO booth…ek kaam nehi hota, Anna, the great Anna, calls himself 'Sher' …'Sher' my foot…ek admi ko pakar nehi pa raha hai….he goes alone and gets his wife….

Sampath entered his house to see Sulekha cutting vegetables …he went and stood next to her…she gave him a nervous glance and moved away…

Sampath sighed…the girl he married was so vibrant full of life…but Dutta…he clenched his jaw…

Naku got down from the car and ran inside the house, calling out for Sethji, hugged him as if she was seeing him after a year or so Dutta thought as he went towards his room…well it seems she won't be up to for quite a while not until she has narrated all the adventure and events of the trip…

Babi beamed to herself as she thought Dutta looked quite at peace even gave her a brief smile…not the usual cold or indifferent look he had…thank you Bappa, Babi prayed to her Lord….

Anna sat confused…Sampath was upset, I think I have selected the wrong man to do my job, he muttered before keeping the phone down…what is wrong, how could we miss this golden opportunity…his men vowed we scanned the whole farmland but Dutta and his wife seems to have vanished in the thin air…

Just then his right hand Subba placed an evelope in front of him…Anna…no wonder we could not catch the right person, haath me laga tha…lekin nikal gaya...got these photographs from the village photo studio, the owner was displaying it very proudly….

It was Dutta and Nakusha in the Madir performing puja, standing with folded hands greeting villagers etc…

Yeh kaun hai, Anna frowned…

Dutta ki patni…

Tabh woh kaun thi…Anna referred to the other photograph….

Pata nehi, shyaad koi naukrani or maybe some relative or somebody whom Dutta was being kind to…

How can that be possible? Sampath said Dutta had ran in the Mall crying out for his wife….and came out escorting this girl….Sampath had seen her with his own eyes…and as much as I know Dutta he avoided beautiful women, even that girl he visited from time to time was no beauty…

Well these photographs cannot be fake and Dutta will not present somebody else as his wife to the villagers will he?

Anna raised his hands…mujhe toh kuch samaj nehi a raha hai…

I had caught this girl in the fields, she said she was waiting for her husband who returns from work this way…Subba narrated….

Anna was stumped….Dutta must have been around then…

Anna why do I have a feeling that both the girls are one person…see the face Anna…the shape, the eyes…Subba pointed out…

Anna picked up both the photographs…tu ne theek kaha Subba but then why would someone disfigure oneself…

Maybe to win Dutta….since Dutta does not like beautiful girls…

Hmmm but then will Dutta allow someone to cheat on him? Anna asked nodding his head….no, it is not like Dutta's character….

A pretty face can charm the toughest men…

Hmmm Anna observed the photograph of Dutta and his wife together, they made lovely couple, she was pretty indeed, quite charming….if this is Dutta's true wife then he will have the pleasure of snatching her and then taking her…..yes….Dutta has to pay and what better it can be through his pretty little wife who can warm my bed even….Anna thought…looking at Subba he said…I want his wife more than ever now…at any cost…aur Sampath ka me khabar leta hu for misguiding us!!

Dutta sat in the veranda looking out to the garden below, with very low lighting the garden was hypnotic, darkness and light, his heart also was swinging in anticipation and hope, he knew why Naku was upset but then there are days when things are just not in your control…his ears were alert as he waited to hear the soft footsteps entering his room…of course she now shares it with him, after all in the village they slept in one room didn't they…

Babi was surprised to see Naku entering her former room, kya ho giya is ladki ko? Babi frowned, looked around to see if anyone else noticed Naku entering, Ayi Sahib was already too tired after the long journey, Kalavati was shouting at her daughter for falling asleep without packing her bag for next day's school…

Babi did not delay she barged into the room…yeh tu idhar kya kar rahi hai? She asked her daughter…

Kyu? Idhar hi toh mai sowti hu, Naku replied….

Nehi matlab aaj abhi tu idhar kya kar rahi hai….

I thought this is the room Ayi Sahib has allotted for me? Naku frowned….

Err umm…shouldn't you be with Bhau in his room….Babi somehow managed to utter….

Kya bol rahi ho tum Ayi, Naku replied, have you forgotten everything? She asked….

I thought I heard Ayi Sahib saying that you and Bhau stayed in the same room in the village….Babi murmured hesitantly….

Ayi that was village under different circumstances and now we are back to our own house…abh mai bahut thak chuki hu thora sow jau?

Babi hanged her head and left the room, she remembered how excited Ayi Sahib had sounded calling her from the village…reaching her room she flopped on the floor did not even shout at Ganpath for snoring away!!

Dutta looked at his watch frowning he got up, entering the room he knew she wasn't there, her trademark smell of lavender soap was missing…he stood with his hands in his pockets, yeh Naku kaha reh gayi…then he remembered…what is she upto now…he thought …..

Standing near the window Naku looked out, she knew her mother was hurt, she was expecting after returning from the village everything would be solved, Bhau would have accepted her daughter…but then she was really mad, how dare he dances with that girl,Gulabo, aur kya shayari kar rahe the, what would have happened if Anna's men would have appeared…tab lene ke dene par jate…they would not have known me but him..he was not in disguise, thank god Baji could make it to the Pub without problem, otherwise what would have happened, Naku shivered by the very thought of it…is he expecting her in his room, is he awake…Naku suddenly was curious, no the decision to stay back in this room was hers, as he did not ask her to be in his room and she is too mad at him to walk in it uninvited…pulling the curtain close, Naku turned to see him standing with is hands folded across his chest…
