SCENE 1
Naku and Sethji are roaming around the locality exploring the area where every turn welcomes them with a new surprise."Dekh taayi…dekh kitna sundar hai hamara yeh wala bast..pichu se kitna bada samundar dikhta hai taayi…bata accha kiya na jo tujhe uss garam garam rasoi se utha kar iss khuli hawa mein le aaya…"Nakusha closes her eyes and lets the vastness of the sea penetrate her heart and mind.She slowly opens her eyes and says:"Sethji…sach mein…bahut sundar hai yeh jagah..mereko itna sukun kabhi mehsoos nahi hua hai jitna aaj lag raha hai…sach mein tera bahut bahut shukriya.."She ruffles his hair and smiles at him.
SCENE 2
Meanwhile,Dutta Shriram patil's car stops in front of the basti….people gather around the car with chants of "Bhau zindabad…Bhau salamat rahe..Bhau ki jai ho..!!"Bhau gets off the car and folds his hands in front of the people…Baji comes out of the car next…People are ecstatic at the sight of their demigod and go beserk.Bhau stops them and Baji says:"Ho gaya..ho gaya…abb bas bhi karo…Bhau ko batao tum logon ka kya kya samasya hai..Bhau use suljhnae ki puri koshish karega."One man:"Nahi nahi!!humein kisi tarah ki takleef nahi ha..Bhau toh hamare bhagwan hai…sab unki kripa hai..hamare ghar mein chulhe unki dua se chal rahe hai…".Baji smiles and pats the man and says:"Toh abb sab apne apne ghar jao…Bhau basti ka thoda chakkar kat ke wapis jayega..aur bheed matt jamana samjh gaye??"Everyone nod their heads and leave place.Dutta:"Ja baji…abb tub hi ja…."Baji is shocked and says:"Kaha jau Bhau….jahan tu wahan main.."Dutta smiles and says…"Mujhe kuch pal akele guzaarna hai…"baji.."Pann Bhau…..".Dutta stops him midway and says:"Ja Baji…".baji leaves.
Dutta starts walking through the bygone and dirty lanes of the slum lost deep in his thoughts …He walks straight towards his favourite spot at the end of the basti where there is a beautiful view of the sun slowly setting into the sea.Unaware of the approaching Dutta,Naku and sethji keep on chatting away and admiring the sea's beauty.Dutta comes up and stands beside Naku.He is so lost in the sunset that he doesn't see that he is standing near some people.Naku suddenly turns her head towards Dutta.She is puzzled by the sudden presence of a stranger.She and Sethji exchange glances and sethji points Naku to ask who the stranger is.Naku looks back at Dutta…trying to make her mind up about asking him or not.Dutta suddenly perks up.."Kitna sundar hai yeh jagah..sab se alag sab se anokhi hai yaha ki hawa…"Nakusha smiles and is intantly relieved to know that this person is from her locality.She says:"Sach keh raha hai tu…pann tu hai kaun??yahi par rehta hai??tereko dekh ke toh nhai lagta…"Sethji jumps in:"haan haan!!shakal to apko badi acchi hai..batao na apna naam…main sethji hu aur iss nakchadi Nakusha ka chota bhaiya.".Dutta smiles and turns his head away from the sunset..facing Nakusha for the first time.He looks at her and smiles:"Tujhe kya lagta hai..main yaha ka hu??"Nakusha drops down her gaze from Dutta's face and says:"ab aap yahan aaye ho toh yahi ke hoge…"Dutta smiles naughtily and says…"Haan main yahin ka hu…."Sethji gets excited and says:"fir toh apun logon ko dosti karna maangta na…chalo aaj main aapko nahi chorunga..batao mujhe iss basti ke bare mein sab kuch….aye taayi…chal aaj toh rapchik timepass mil gaya .."Dutta says:"Haan haan kyun nahi…aaj se hum dost….aur main tujhe bateyaga na sab kuch idhar ke bare mien chal baith ja niche."He looks at Naku and says"Yeh dost waali baat maine tere liye bhi kahi hai….tu bhi baith sakti hai!!" Naku sits down beside sethji shyly.Dutta sethji start talking and laughing.Naku is hesistant at first and then opens up and joins the conversation.What follows is a cheerful banter between the three new friends.Suddenly,there is a voice in the background:"Chana jor garam le lo….chana jor garam..".Sethji's face lights up and he says:"Aye dost…mereko chana jor garam bada pasand hai!! Kahrid do na…"Naku glares at Sethji and says:"Pagal ho gaya hai tu…aise kyun paise kharch karwa raha hai inke…Aayi se paise lekar aayenge tab khayenge…samjha??"Sethji gets irritated and says:"Chal chal taayi kuch bi matt bol…pata hai dost taayi ko bhi yeh sab chatpate cheezien pasand hai…."Before Naku could scold sethji again,Dutta interrupts in between and says:"Abb ladna band karo…Aye bhaisaab..teen chana garam banaba…"The three then seetle with their plates and continue their conversation. Naku talks and talks a lot.Dutta is astonished and says:"Arre..tu toh badi badboli nikli shuru mein kitni chup-chap si sehmi si baithi thi.Jaise ki kisi bhoot ko dekh liya ho…"Nakusha smiles and says sofly:"Abb tum anjaan nahi mere dost ho na..isi maafil main bol paa rahi hu.."Dutta and Naku's eyes lock for some seconds..There is a soft romantic background music playing.Naku breaks away from Dutta's gaze and Dutta shifts his gaze towards Sethji.Naku suddenly stands up and says…:"Dekha sethji..kitna samay ho gaya…Aayi ghar pahuchti hi hogi…tereko aur mereko ghar pen a pakar kitna chillayegi..chal chal abb chalne ka samay aa gaya hai…"Sethji gets up,faces Dutta and says:"Aapse milkar aacha laga…kal phir milne aana mujhse aur taayi se…abb chalna maangta hai mereko.."Dutta gets up ans says:"Theek hai..ja abb..apna aut apni taayi aur sabka khayal rakhna theek hai…phir milta hu…".Naku and sethji go off in the opposite direction.Dutta is still standing at the sunset point looking in their direction and smiling.On a hunch,Naku turns back and to take a look once more at Dutta.She looks at him and when she finds him staring in their direction,she quickly turns her face away and smiles to herself.
SCENE 3
While Dutta is still looking in their direction,Baji turns up from behind and seeing Bhau smile,he is surprised and scratching his head,he says:"Kya baat hai bhau…bada muskura rahe ho…aaj tak itni khushi nahi dekhi tere chehre par…who bhi iss basti mein aakar…"Dutta's spell is broken by Baji's words and he turns his head towards him…smiling at him,he says:"kabhi kabhi jeevan mein kuch paalon ke liye hi sahi par aise log mil jaate hai,jo aap par jeevan bhar ki chaap chodd jaate hai…samjh le aaj kuch aisa hi huya mere saath…"Baji looks confused .Dutta pats his back and says:"Chal Baji…abb apne nanhe se dimag par itna jor matt de…ghar chalet hai.Waise bhi bahut der ho gaye.Aayi sahib chinta kar rahi hogi."
Saying so,the move to their car and leave the basti,with Dutta still staring out of the window towards the dirty basti.
SCENE 4
Back at Naku's home,after Naku and sethji reach home,a few minutes later,Babi shows up looking tired and dejected.She yells Naku's name.."Nakuuuuu…aye nakuu…"Naku comes rushing out from the kitchen.She takes one look at her aayi and knows how upset she is.Babi says:"Sabki khana khila diya na Naku??"Naku cleans her dirty hands with her dupatta and says:"Haan Aaayi sab ne kha liya….bas tere hi intezaar kar rahi thi main..."Babi replies"Aaj mera mann nahi khane ka…seedhe sone ja rahi hai main.."Naku nods her head.At night,Naku cant sleep because her conscience wont allow her to sleep because she hid something from her aayi.She goes out in the kitchen to allow silence soak her.Aayi comes after her.Naku aware of her aayi's presence,falls into her arms and sheds a few tears.The mother-daughter duo embrace each other,none of them saying anything and they standstill for a moment.
