Chapter # 1
"I'm all right, Ma."
"Yes."
"I did." She nodded and then realized her mother was on the other side of the phone, not in the same room to see her right now. "Okay." She replied before another set of instructions was repeated as she looked at her wrist watch again and she had to promise to look after herself before she hung up. By the time she entered university, she was already running late for her lecture.
She had always wanted to complete her studeis and now that she had the opportunity to fulfill her dreams, she felt the excitement soon leaving and now over a month of enrollment in her Masters program, she was not zealous anymore. The yearning to read and write had left her soul, it seemed. No matter how hard she tried to focus on her research, she found the mundane mundane task tedious.
It had taken more courage than she thought was required in imploring her mother to enroll in the UK. She resumed typing on her laptop, pushing away all the unnecessary thoughts which kept bugging her lately. Did he miss her as much as she missed him? Did he try calling her as she had often wanted to just hear his voice? She shook her head slightly, knowing it was of no use. She was just another liability for him. An unwanted wife whom he had only accepted as a burden and nothing else. Not even as a wife? A small voice in her head whispered when she remembered that time he was affected by the mishap at his concert, the last one she had attended. No, she held her thoughts firmly. It was only mattter of urgency, a spur of the moment where he found his solace in her and she had willingly aand whole heartedly given herself to him.
Getting away from the city was not enough for her, she knew. Had she not been this harsh on herself, she would have ran back into her husband, no ex-husband now and asked him to take her back. She would have cried, begged and made him accept her after the eventful night of passion and exploration.
A sigh escaped her lips as she recalled the best night of her life. A night where her husband had openly acclaimed his right on her, when she had been the happiest person alive but the next day her conscience had come knocking on the door of her rational mind and she did what she believed was right. Her eye brimmed with tears, she had long ago vowed to stop shedding but these silly tears seemed to have a mind of their own. She knew, there was just no use in day dreaming, dreaming a dream which was never hers in the first place. Fortunately, her admission had been approved timely and she grabbed this excuse with both her hands to find her reprieve in new surroundings. Among new faces and places.
Which only made her feel alienated.

Abhishek Mehra crushed the paper glass in his hands as soon as his eyes found his prey, walking down the lane in black slacks and a hot pink silk tunic. Her hair flowing about her in the cool breeze as she tried to pull her black jacket a little closer to protect herself against the chill. Her bag safely secured on her right shoulder.
His beautiful prey.
He caught himself short along with his libido. He should concentrate on this first meeting after a month long of fear.
And rage.
He stood against the tree he was leaning to and threw the crumbled paper in the trash bin before moving towards his prey.
"Can you spare me a moment?" He asked when he reached her side.
