Chapter 3
Andy is hosting a formal dinner party tomorrow at the town's most sought out restaurant. His last couple of collections were big hits so he's celebrating with his favourite clients, friends, and family. This big media event is by invite only with a red carpet entrance and I'm going with Abhi. The theme is western evening wear and I am at a loss, Abhi wanted to go shopping with me but I turned him down. At my friends boutique I didn't know it would be so hard, there's so many styles of gowns and cocktail dresses to choose from and then getting the right shoes, jewelry it's a lot to take in. At my friend's advice I got a 3/4 sleeve navy shimmery cocktail dress which doesn't quite feel right but I couldn't pick anything else out so I settled for this.
Its 3 hours till the party and I haven't even started to get ready. I almost called Abhi about 10 times today wanting to cancel. Should I really go in this? I'm looking at myself holding the dress in the mirror. Before I can ponder any longer Bulbul comes and hands me some packages that her loving jiju sent over for me. Just as she leaves Abhi calls "Pragya, did you get them. It's for you to wear today?" I roll my eyes before replying "Thank you but I already know what I want to wear and I have it all laid out." Abhi interrupts "I know you have it under control but I couldn't help myself. When I saw these I could only imagine you wearing them and Andy agrees they are just for you. Please wear these tonight." Oh so he got Andy on this, "Abhi, I am wearing what I got." He cutely says please again and I say no he says yes and I'm no, we are going back and forth and he says no and I automatically say yes. I realize what I just did and before I can open my mouth to protest I hear "Thanks" and he ends the call. I put my hand on my forehead and shaking my head I can't believe I fell for this.
I open the first jewelry box and it has long chandelier diamond earrings and the other box has a beautiful thin diamond tennis bracelet and the last one has 2 thin diamond studded bangles. I can't breathe, oh my God I can't wear these. My phone rings and I look at Abhi's text and it says 'It's cubic zirconia not diamonds. I don't want you to worry that it's too expensive to wear'. The shoes are clear pointy-toed two inch heels. Opening the box that has the dress is giving me shivers just wondering what's in here.
Heading to the living room my eyes lock with Abhi and his face lights up seeing me. The one shoulder emerald green satin gown has a beaded crystal zirconia waist line and it fits perfectly. It flares from the waist down and when I turn the dress twirls making me feel like I'm royalty. My mouth is starting to hurt now as ever since I got ready I am flashing my most widest smile. I have my curly hair down just like the way he loves it. Bulbul did my makeup and it's light and she tells me it looks absolutely flawless. Keeping pretty Priya in mind I'm wearing contacts. Before heading out Bulbul takes a few pictures.
At the red carpet Abhi pulls me in an embrace and flashes go off in so many directions. I wonder how he gets used to this as I'm seeing stars. Abhi holds my hand and we walk in. Andy spots us a few feet away and walks towards up. He hugs us both and taking a good look at both of us he says "Abhi, you're rocking the tux and my darling Pragya you look so elegant like a majestic princess." Andy bows down and takes my hand and kisses it and I hear Abhi clearing his throat and he says "She's my queen." I turn my head to look at him and he winks at me and I feel my cheeks getting a bit warm. We walk around and he introduces me to everyone he knows and he's by my side the whole time. Andy comes and takes him aside a few minutes I see him sneaking glances at me every now and then.
After all the socializing we finish dinner and Andy announces the evening will end with everyone dancing the night away. Abhi takes me to the dance floor and we move together on soft romantic music for don't know how long. As we head out some media groups are still around and they politely ask Abhi to sing his Happy Love song to end this night off. They request me to sing along with the rockstar and as Abhi starts he hears me sing with him. We're both smiling and we walk away singing. Waiting for the valet Abhi tells me "So you began learning my song and I'm impressed you had it all right. So my wifey is my fan girl now?" I look him straight in his eyes and I say "Not exactly." He cocks one brow up and I continue "You know how sometimes if you hear a song over and over...even if it's annoying it gets stuck in the head." He pulls me closer to him and I mouth the words thank you. He puts his arm around my waist and tells me "I love you" and I tell him the same.
