Hello, everyone! I am not a regular viewer of KKB, but since I have an account on IF, I will bother you with my opinion. 😉
First of all, thanks for this post. I am always on a hunt for something where I can rant. 😆
Okay, so the lady who is kind enough to cook for me is a die-hard fan of this show. Also, this show airs at a time when I usually eat my dinner, and that's when she takes full liberty to watch this show, and I steal a few glances here and there, but I am aware as to what is up with the characters. I don't bother her very much because she is an excellent cook, and I cajole her into watching Masterchef Australia with me with a hope that one fine day, she will be able to replicate the dishes on the show.
Oops, were you waiting for the rant?! Here goes...😛
I am completely baffled by the premise of this show. What are the scriptwriters trying to imply? That a contract marriage is something that can fixate two star-crossed lovers? Even if they are to be brought together in such a ridiculous way, the characters could have been laced with some redeeming qualities. Are viewers supposed to tighten their hopes around the possibility that one fine day, Pragya will learn to love the man who married her so that he could create a freeway for his scheming sister to marry the man who doesn't even like her. I fail to understand what's so deviously charming about Abhi that I fail to see. He's as vile as his sister. Forget about being nice to the woman he married, he's not even bothered about what Poorab really wants. How can he possibly be so blinded by the love for his sister that he decided to take control of Poorab's life? I fail to understand why Abhi is given credit for being a good grandson. He lied to his grandmom about Pragya. Isn't this a fleeting evidence that he cares about nothing but himself. I can go on and on about this so-deeply flawed character, but anyway, this is Ekta's paradise. Even Lord Voldemort could have regenerated his lost nose in her world.
Pragya is downright gullible. Her mother has tonnes of ailments, and she keeps lying to her face about the truth of her relationship with Abhi. Wouldn't she get to know the day Pragya is chucked out of Abhi's home? Wouldn't this bother her mom? Right now, what Pragya needs is an annulment, and let Abhi come back to her crawling on his bare palms, and seek forgiveness for being a douchebag. A kick in his face from Pragya would have been a fair gesture, but I tend to forget that this is Ekta's paradise, PHEW! If so happens, Pragya will ask Abhi to get up, fold her hands, and go puppy-eyed on Abhi to take her back.
And the fiery figment in me which despises such flimsy caricatures passed off to us in the name of 'entertainment' will sit down, and wonder why we are taken for being utter dolts.
