Chapter Ninety seven...

Dr. Hardstone returns...

Dr Ashutosh drove to the central Jail hospital and his mind n his heart were in constant conflict..almost tearing him apart..his heart seemed to hold him back..not attend to the evil woman who had robbed his nidhi's joys...had decieved his friendship of 12 years...but his mind reminded him of the Hippocratic oath they had taken at the medical college..that they would treat all patients..without fear or favour...n he sighed as he walked briskly into the hospital after the guard escorted him..seeing his i card!

The jailer almost rushed him into the ward where Mallika lay..she had certaily lost weight..there were dark circles around her eyes..Ashutosh chose not to see the flicker of joy in those eyes.he sat by her on a chair n examined her vitals..

Her pulse was high n there was heavy lung congestion..he looked at her n asked sternly "tum apni medicines nahi le rahi ho regularly.."?Mallika looked at him..n then at the jailer n said"can i plz talk to my dr alone"?the jailer stepped back n Ashutosh had a distinct frown..as he sighed n said"mallika..there is nothing to talk..i have come to see u only as a doctor..its my duty n court's order..that is all..and yes if you donot cooperate in taking medicines..then i d report to the court.."and he began to write new drugs..as mallika asked "nidhi.."and Ashutosh raised his eyebrow..cleared his throat n spoke severely "mallika..behtar hoga agar tum nidhi ka naam bhi na lo..tum usse quaafi nuksaan pahuncha chuki ho...and i will not tolerate even your shadow on nidhi..is that clear"??and he called the jailer..gave him the prescription n said"ab bhi dawa nahi lein to court mein report ker deejiyega..i can do nothing more.."!and he walked off ..even as mallika stretched her hand to him..n said"Ashutosh..ek baar ..plz"!Ashutosh looked back..n spoke "mallika..mera tumse koi vasta nahi..tum meri dost nahi ho ab..na hi colleague...ho to bus meri sharmindagi..ki tum jaisi aurat ko kabhi maine apna sabse achcha dost maana tha...it was a shame..but now i have learnt my lesson mallika..i really have..n at what cost..."!and he strode off..even as Mallika clenched her fists..n cried "Ashutosh. .tumhe aana padega..ek dost nahi to ek dr ki tarah..per main tumhe ..."and rest traied off as tears flowed out of the weak eyes...once so beautiful. ...

Dr Ashutosh stopped his car in KGH parking..sat for a moment trying to calm himself..as he did not want to see his insecurities n eorries being reflected in Nidhi's eyes..he recalled what Sudhir had said"keep nidhi happy n relaxed"!..Ashutosh walked in...his stetho around his neck..he called dr Ranganath. .only to be told that he was on leave..He frowned as he entered his cabin n called for his routine..he had a surgery at 1 p.m...he sat and rang for a coffee..and just as he thought coffee had come in..and said"come in"..in waddled nidhi..n said"Arth is unwell..thats why..."!ashutosh nodded n then asked"kya hua"??Nidhi answered"fever hai..viral but hes very irritable..aunty ke paas hai..but dr Ranganath ko nahi chod raha..Anji to abhi teen din baad hi aayegi..."and Ashutosh saw lines of worry on her forehead..n he worked a smile"dont worry..i d tell Ranga..he can take another day off..i d manage with the other drs..aur tum ab wind up kerna..today is your last day..i mean now u proceed on maternity..."!nidhi looked a lil lost..but then nodded"hmm...ab i do feel bahut thak jaati hoon..per kaise manage hoga yahaan"??Ashutosh replied"ho jaayega ..sab ho jaayega...ab jaao..let me go on a round..tum bhi kids ward ki report ready karo"!nidhi looked at him...trying to assess what was wrong..what was he trying to hide. ..there surely was something. ..but what was it...

She chewed her lip as she moved to the kids ward...as she tenderly looked at the sick children..but had a smile as they were seeming better...she had done her job well...now she had to focus on the joy that was going to arrive...their babies..their dreams...their new home...

As nidhi prepared a detailed report of the kids ward..she examined each one of them..n kissed them..saying shed keep coming to meet them whenever she can..and then she got up..holding her tummy and then went to her cabin..looked around and collected her bag n her stetho..n slowly emerged to go to the canteen for a cup of tea..as she sat in the canteen..she recalled the numerous cups of tea that she n dr Ashutosh had shared...how time had gone by...it had been more than three years and each monent was etched on her heart...

Dr Ashutosh had just returned from the surgery and was reading the final reports ..when his cell buzzed..it was the jailer again..an agitated Ashutosh picked it up and spoke"yes..what can i do"??the jailer spoke "sir..dr Mallika is refusing to take the medicine..what should i do"??Dr Ashutosh was agitated as he put his specs down and kept quiet for a moment before answering "jailer sahib..u can tell the jail dr to inject the antibiotics prescribed..i cannot do anything else..nothing.."and he disconnected..n sat with his head in his hands..agitated n irritated ..knowing Mallika's game plan..trying to get him again n again to meet her...but he would not fall in her trap..not this time...

Nidhi entered the cabin..softly ..as Ashutosh did not respond to the knock..she saw her husband ..dejected ..his head in his hands..she knew he had something on his mind..but what was it??

She asked him"kya chupa rahe hain..aap..kya baat hai"!As5seemed to have been torn out of a trance..his thought process disrupted n in front stood his nidhi..his strength..but right now his vulnerability. .How could he save her from Mallika...

Nidhi repeated her query...and Ashutosh tried to chide her.."let me work..."and she pouted..in child like resistance n defiance "myjhse kya chupa rahe hain..aur kyun..bataiye naa"??and somehow her persistence broke the dam of his patience n self control...n he just got up pulling his hand away..n shouting at her "can you stop it...i am not answerable to you..am i??i am sick of your WHY..HOW..just let me be in peace..do not try to take liberties with me..n just go..go away..i want some peace.."and nidhi withdrew...too shocked to respond..as she came out..wiping her tears..n looking apologetically at the head nurse who seemed to have heard a lot...she walked away..smiling awkwardly...n then hailing an auto...waddling her way...

Inside Dr Ashutosh collapsed in his chair..closing his eyes..trying to shut his eyes off everything!

It was about an hour later that a some what calmed Dr Ashutosh stepped out of his cabin...n walked to nidhi's. ..The cabin was locked..he looked around n asked the staff nurse"dr nidhi"??she replied "sir woh to ghar gayi..shaayad..i mean i saw her hailing an auto"!Ashutosh's jaw dropped "auto..."??and as the nurse nodded..he realised the temper ..the snakish temper that he had..how he had shouted at her..when she had only been trying to soothe him...he almost ran to the car...how must nidhi have gone by auto..the jerks..the pain..and what if she was not at home??afterall ge had shouted at her to :"just go away"!what if she really went away..n never returned...Ashutosh gulped hard as he drove ..n drove fast..bringing the car to a screeching halt at the mathur niwas..

Baba was walking a lil tense..he raised an eyebrow at ashu ..as he asked"baba..nidhi aayi ghar"??and baba reacted"hmmm.aayi..auto se..ashu tujhe kuch andaaza hai uski haalat ka..aise mein auto se??shehr mein taxi milni band ho gayi hain kya..."??but Ashutosh wasn't listening to baba..for once..he entered his bedroom..and just stopped..as he saw nidhi lying on the bed...her eyes covered with her right hand...obviously she was crying...n yet Ashutosh closed his eyes in relief...n went up to her..removing her hand n holding her face in his large hands...he said"sorry jaan..really sorry"and kissed her red eyes..as she tried to get up..but couldn't. .and as he helped her..she cried.."aaah"!and then looking at Ashutosh said"Distuebed hain hum teeno...chod deejiye humein..jaaiye apni chinta kariye.."Ashutosh held her n whispered"itta gussa...kaha na..i swoh main..pareshan tha.. i m sorry.."nidhi wiped her tears n said"main jaanti hoon shayad..bus aapki pareshani baantna chahti thi..."and as she suddenly turned white..he held her"lie down..the babies are kicking...just calm down...aur abse no auto..no running away..."nidhi held on to him and said"ab kahaan jaaoongi..jaahan jaaoongi aapke saath jaaoongi..."and Ashutosh kissed her...n closed his eyes...

Chapter Ninety eight...

pyaar ke hazaar deep...

"I am really sorry nidhi..i shouted at you..iss haalat mein..buss pareshaan tha.."Nidhi looked at her husband ..n whispered"aur agar main sach much chali jaati kahin..nahi aati waapas ..to"??Ashutosh looked at her aghast...and as he turned almost white with the thought..she just looked into his eyes..."mujhe darr lagta hai..I feel very scared..kabhi kabhi..lagta hai..lagta hai..mai marr jaaoongi delivery mein..nahi dekh paaoongi apne bachchon ko..humare bachchon ko.."and she just kept quiet..no tears..but her face seemed fraught with fear..Ashutosh suddenly felt over whelmingly protective towards her..he mived closer n held her..his hand on where their dreams lay...he asked softly"why nidhi..twins are not so uncommon..n you are young n healthy..and Sudhir is the very best...aur .."nidhi stopped him .."nah..its not the medical fear...but yes i do feel..yaad hai dr Mallika ne mujhe curse kiya tha...i know shes very ill..woh bulati hain aapko..i know..main aapki pareshani ka sabab samajhti hoon...per mujhe lagta hai..ki maine dr Mallika ko..ya meri wajah se dr mallika ka sab kuch kho gaya...aur woh mujhe kabhi maaf nahi karengi..never.."!Ashutosh had his eyes blazing..but he bit his lip..trying to restrain his anger..as he said"nidhi ..i want you to understand once n for ever..pehli baat..mallika ne jo khoya..woh uska kabhi tha hi nahi..doosri baat..i am not a property to be claimed n counter claimed..i have loved you n only you..aur teesri aur aakhiri baat..hum dono ko humaare bachchon ki khushiyaan dekhne se koi nahi rok sakta..koi nahi.."and he just held nidhi...probably a lil too tight..as she winced..n he relaxed..his eyes oozing with care..and as he tried to kiss nidhi..she said"ek promise...aap dr mallika ko best possible medical treatment denge. .i dont want you to fail in your duty...main aapka sar kabhi jhuka hua nahi dekh sakti..i know you hate her..i also find it very difficult..but the facr is her TB has become resistant. .you know what that means...aur aapne hi sikhaya tha..ki apne dushman ka bhi ilaaj karna chahiye...buss..main aapka guroor ..apka abhimaan nahi tootne de sakti..chahe main khud toot jaaoon..."!and rest was all lost in Ashutosh's crushing hug...there was no room for words...

Ashutosh held nidhi by her waist as they stood along with baba n Armaan outside the house that had been their home till now..Nidhi had unexpected tears in her eyes as she bent n touched the threshold. .with her husband holding her protectively. .n baba smiled as he saw both of them n the home...to which he had returned..returned to his son's life..returned forever...

Armaan held baba n clearing his throat said"ab chal nidhi..woh ghar...intezaar kar raha hai tera aur Ashu ka..yahaan aate rahenge.."Nidhi nodded as she wiped her tears n then smiled as they sat in the car n drove out...

"Ruk beta...aarti laane de"!it was kaka hurrying with the arti thali and as he did the arti Ashu touched his n baba's feet as they were ushered in...

Kaka called nidhi.."aaja beta ..zara kheer chala de..shagun ho jaayega.."and nidhi smiled as she did it n then called everyone for dinner...

Ashutosh had postponed grihprawesh due to nidhi's precarious condition...functions had to wait...nidhi was his top priority. ..

As Ashutosh entered the bedroom...a huge room with two study tables,book racks n a plush sofa..overlooking the lawn.He smiled as he saw their old bed..the bed which had seen his nights lonely n sleepless..n then it was on this very bed that he had claimed nidhi..his young wife..

Ashutosh cleared his throat as emotions seemed to overcome him..As nidhi entered with the customary jug of water...n as she stood n asked.."aap kis side soyenge"??and Ashutosh gave a naughty glint.."sides divided hain kya..."and nidhi blushed..

She opened the wardrobes ..clothes had to be arranged..but right now she was sapped...but then her eyes twinkled..as she held her hubby and said"zara nurseries dekhein.."and Ashutosh smiled as he held nidhi and got her to the two interconnected nurseries..with lovely motiffs and colourful floor..and then he switched off the light...to show the luminous stars on the ceiling. ..and nidhi was full of awe...as Ashutosh kissed her on the forehead..and hummed "pyaar ke hazaar deep hain jale huein"!!

Chapter Ninety nine...

Aashiyaan...

"Anji finally aa rahi hai aaj raat..."it was nidhi who looked at Dr Ashutosh and informed him what col verma had just told her over the cell..he sighed and said"lets hope sab theek rahe...Ranganath thoda upset lag raha tha...lets see..hows the kid.."??nidhi nodded"theek hai ..ab to..aunty din mein laati hain apne yahaan..."and then as if to digress her..dr Ashutosh got up..neatly folding hus newspaper n said"chalo bhai..lets go shopping..your mobility is decreasing each day..n we need to buy so much of stuff"!nidhi smiled as she asked"list banaayi hai aapne "??and Ashutosh seemed nonplussed "list to nahi..."and nidhi giggled"don't worry..maine bana li hai..ek cheez poochna chahti thi..dont u think..it d be better to buy a twin cot..twin pram..twin bouncer..ek nursey ko dono ka bedroom aur ek ko play room bana denge..i mean for an year or so..then we d see...aasaani hogi..manage karne mein"!Ashutosh stood up and caressed her cheek..his eyes looking at her with all his love and saying a silent Yes!

"Very carefully..nidhi please ..no circus"!it was an irritated Ashutosh admonishing his young wife..who was trying to play with some hit me toys!!

They decided on a twin pram..that was pink purple n blue..a lovely double crib that had toys all around and lovely cushions too..and the nappies,diapers..and toys..Ashutosh seemed to be buying the whole store...ehen nidhi put her hand on his sleeve n said"itta pyaar karenge to spoil ho jaayenge"!and Ashutosh held her with his intense eyes for a moment...sainyaan...

"Lo..ab theek hai bolo"??asked Ashutosh as he arranged the stuff in the nursey ..and looked at nidhi..nidhi nodded but then seemed to wince..Ashutosh came to her immediately. .dropping all the nappies.."kya..."and nidhi just bit her lip...as the lines of pain receded..but he got her to the sofa and made her sit as he caressed her hair..n said"Sudhir keh raha tha..in a week's time..you should get admitted..KGH me better looking after hogi..aur as soon as you go into labour ..the drs can help you out.."nidhi smiled softly and acquiesed.."jo aap theek samjhein..but yes..i am unabke to do much now..bus ..."Ashutosh hugged her n said.."two weeks more i guess..."and nidhi held his hands"aap rahenge na..labour toom mein.."??and Ashutosh didn't have to speak the answer...

After a light dinner ;they emerged into the lawn..baba n armaan were getting the lights around statues rectified..it was a lively lawn with pieces of art..Buddha;an archer...a lotus..n mother Mary with baby Jesus...and nidhi just kept gazing at the statue..as Ashutosh pulled her to him..and asked "yaad hai woh raat jab tum mujhe baba se milane laayin thi yahaan..."??

Nidhi nodded n said"aur baba ne kaha tha...MERI KHWAAISH TO MUJHE MIL GAYI..AB TERI KHWAISH BHI TUJHE MIL JAYE "!

And as she walked with Ashutosh she said"sach...agar baba nahi hote to..."!and baba came around and smiled"bhai mai kaise nahi hota..main nahi hota to mere pote potiyon ko kaun khilaayega bhala"!!

Nidhi smiled as Baba put his hand on her head n then looking at the mansion ..now a home ..said"beta..tu ne sab adhhoore khwaab poore ker diye..mere bhi..aur is gadhe ke bhi"!and mocked at the renowned neurosurgeon now blushing like a college boy!

Nidhi sneezed and Ashu immediately said"lets go in..kahin exposure na ho jaaye..its october now...shayad baarish aayegi aaj"!nidhi looked at baba n asked"yaad hai baba..woh raat jab humne yeh ghar dhoondha tha..kitna toofaan tha uss raat.."baba smiled n added"uss raat to tune mujhe meri duniya lauta di thi..mera beta..mera Ashu"!!and the three looked at each other n went in..as Armaan shouted"abbe ashu. .yeh garden chairs kaun rakhega verandeh mein"!!and dr Ashutosh returned...

Dr Ashutosh was arranging nidhi's stuff in the huge wardrobe..as she was reading something on the tab..n playing with her bump..caressing it..and then her brow furrowed..As5looked up n said"nidhi..stop reading medical sites..u know drs make very bad patients"!!nidhi smiled n kept the device n then opened her arms..."ek baat bataaiye..drive pe chalenge..kitta achcha mausam hai..."!

Dr Ashutosh shook his head"sorry..its raining..i can't take the risk..haan tahaan jo kaho...chaai peeyogi"??nidhi pouted"no..acidity hoti hai..kuch khaya piya nahi jata..i feel full..."!Ashutosh understood..the weight n volume of healthy twins can be overwhelming...

His cell rang ..n he took it.."jee col verma..jee ..jee bilkul..ok..good night sir"!and he smiled at Nidhi "lo ho gaya ghoomne ka intezaam tumhara..kal breakfast pe bulaya hai tumhare baba ne..anji aur Ranganath ko bhi bulaya hai.."!nidhi was excited...but then suddenly turned grave.."should i come??i am unable to sit for long..now"!Ashutosh winced n kissed her nose as he said.."wahaan let jaana..atleast milogi sabse to mann badlega jaan..."and then as he thought of something and whasapped dr Sudhir...his cell rang...it was KGH"sir..Dr ..i mean Mallika Trehan has been brought ..in a critical conditioon..."!Ashutosh pressed his lips ..and then looked at Nidhi..as she lay with her eyes closed..he held her hand n said over the phone "let dr Joshi handle..but yes keep me posted..."!

Chapter 100...

dard e dil...

"Nidhi..karwat nahi..seedhe so..better rahega"said dr Ashutosh as he helped her lie flat and then put a pillow below her feet..he sat close to her ..playing with her tresses..caressing n soothing her..her eyes were clised but he knew she was awake..he could sense her latent fears..her anxiety. .he asked ger softly"kya hua jaan..dard hai"??nidhi opened her eyes n looked straight into his.."dr Mallika beemaar hain naa"??Ashutosh sighed...he could really not hide anything from her..."haan..hospital mei admitted hai..dr Joshi ki care mein..dont worry..we are giving her the best medical care..even though she doesn't deserve it"!Nidhi held his hand..as he caressed the bump..she asked"aap ko jaana hai"??he shook his head ..n covering themselves with the quilt said"no..mujhe bus tumhae paas rehna hai"!nidhi didn't say anything..she just clutched to his shirt..and seemed to tremble..Ashutosh seemed v tense..her trembling brought back memories of ger epileptic fits..he held her close. .cocooned her n slowly she fell asleep..but Ashu couldn't. .his hand on her tummy ..he kept thinking about her fears..the insecurity that mallika had caused..and now both nidhi n mallika d be in KGH at the same time...what if mallika tried to...and he closed his jaw in anger...softening the very next moment as he could feel his babies kick...and nidhi winced in pain ...calling out his name"Ashutosh..."he held her...n patted her back to sleep...closing his eyes ..but with a deep resolve ..in his silent eyes...

His cell buzzed ..a message from KGH "patient wants to meet you"!it was dr Joshi..he typed back"not required.let her rest.i d come on my regular round tomorrow at 12 noon"!

"Lo have some lemonade n upma..light rahogi..now rake something every 2 hours..ok..ab bataao kya pehnogi"??nidhi took the tray ..n then asked"aap choose karenge"??and Ashutosh smiled"chalo let me choose today..yeh yellow n black"??and nidhi smiled..it was a yellow katha work maternity kurta..n black silk salwaar.she could no longer wear her trade mark tights..nidhi smiled and finished her upma but didnt take the lemonade.."unhhh.mann nahi hai..paani de dejiye plz"!Ashutosh brought water n then asked her softly.."ORS mila doon"??but nidhi didn't reply..she got up ..with an effort and made her way to get ready..

Ashutosh observed..the fit girl of yesterday was finding it so difficult to do even the normal chores..motherhood could be so tough...his eyes had a very deep softness in them..as she emerged n sat on the bed..the salwaar in her hands.."i can't. .."and her hubby looked at her with concern as he helped her...and she said"suniye..i think..i should now go to kgh...i am finding it tough..per..."and her eyes filled up with tears...Ashu looked up and raised his eyebrow"kya

.."and she said"aap nahi milenge wahaan pe..."!He held her n said"i would arrange every thing..aur patient ka attendant to reh sakta hai saath mein..so can't the dean be his wife's attendant "??Nidhi lowered her eyes..as they emerged..and baba smiled..but turned serious.."beta kya hua..you dont seem fine"??Nidhi looked at baba n just said"bus kuch khaas nahi baba...ab "and Dr Ashutosh explained"baba do dino se kaafi thak jaa rahi hai..i have decided..ab final 2 weeks KGH me rahegi..main rahoonga saath mein.."Baba's brow furrowed as he scratched his beard n said"Hmmm...theek hai..but see that she gets THE BEST..nurses..room..sab kuch..aur Drs..round the clock..meri bahu ko koi taqleef na ho.."!and nidhi smiled..at yhis pampering..and said"zara apne baba ke ghar jaa rahi hoon..bas 2 ghante ko.."and baba blessed "ja beta..khushi se jaa..aur khushi khushi aa"!

And ashutosh got..her to the car very carefully..

Chapter 101...

Family time...

To my dearest Jayasree..i hope my update makes you feel better..

Jayasree Age is a case of mind over matter..if you don't mind ..it doesn't matter..

Part 1

Ashutosh drove very carefully ..stopping at Ramasrey to buy laddoos samose n dhokla..and as they entered col verma's campus..nidhi smiled"Harini is here..dekhiye uski woh special Camry"and Ashutosh smiled "lovely girl..bahut achchi choice hai Rohan ki"! Nidhi agreed n added"i really respect her..pata nahi Anji kyun chidti hai usse"!

Dr Ashutosh smiled n said"Anji envies Harini..Harini has that clarity n maturity that is expected of Anji..but Anji abhi confused hai..she complains what life wants from her...actual issue is what she wants from life.."nidhi nodded n said"hope she is happy ..after all she has had so much time to herself n her profession. .."Ashutosh did not reply as he helped nidhi on to the stairs and rung the bell.

COl verma himself opened the door and hugged Ashutosh "Dr Ashutosh always on time..aapne is late lateef ko bhi time ki ahmiyat samjha di"Ashu laughed n touched his n dadi bua's feet asnd then asked for Rohan n Harini..bua replied "woh dono kya kehte hain..lap top pe ghar hunt ker rahe hain"and cv explained that they were unable to grt the kind of house they were looking for..adding "maine aur infact bua ne to kaha ki yahin raho..but i understand. ..but ladki bahut achchi hai..harini"amd surprisingly Dadi bua agreed" bilkul ..bahut achchi..dekh aaj yeh halwa bana ke laayi hai..uska special chulha hai..height adjust ho jaati hai"explained bua as she narrated how Harini had called them home one evening.

And just then the subject of discussion arrived..with Rohan hugging Nidhi..gingerly "by God nidhiji..ek dium bulldozer lag rahi ho"!and nidhi gave him a mock glare...and before anything could be said. .a cru of a baby was heard...all looked at the door..Anji n Ranganath stood with Arth..now 14 months old ..in Anji's as..trying to free himself

Dadi bua n Rohan ran up to welcome Anji as Arth wriggled out of her arms and jumped into dadi bua's. .playfully vying for her chain!!As Rohan extended his arms and took him ..n both began to play as long lost buddies..Ranganath looked at Anji as she seemed irritated. .but came in quietly..pleasentries were exchanged..and Anji looked at Harini "oh hi Harini..didn't know you too would be here.."dadi bua retorted "bhai Harini to sabse zuroori hai..bahu to wahi banegi tum dono to apne apne ghar gayi ..ab main beemar hongi to kaun dekhega mujhe??yeh chote sarkaar"??CS smiled n said"thanku hai dadi bua..humein manhoos manhoos nahi kaha aapne"!!and dadi bua spanked him"chal manhoos"!!

Anji looked at dadi bua n then at Harini...before she could pass a snide remark..dadi bua explained"humari Harini sab kaam kar keti hai..dekha hai maine iske ghar jjake..tu fiqr na quar Anji..aur nidhi bhi na kare..tum apna ghar dekho"!!Harini sat laughing..as Rohan handed Arth to ger n three played ..with Harini calling him AVVI...AVVI DARLING!!

Anji looked at Ranga..."Avvi kaafi mix up ho gaya hai strangers se bhi..."!

"Strangers nahi family se..."it was Shyama aunty in a pale green saree with Solanki uncle who came in ..n Avvi gurgled to be taken by her..n happily kissed her ..as Solanki saab clapped"beta jab tu nahi thi..to family ne hi to paala Avvi ko..dekh kitta khush rehta hai..rota nahi ekdum.."!!Anji looked at Avvi...n then glanced away...

Snacks were served..and dadi bua got laddoos for nidhi..and dhokla n pakode ..sandwiches ..as nidhi laughed "dadi bua..mujhe twins hain..quadruplets nahi.."!!

Ashutosh kept a vigilant eye on nidhi as he discussed the problems Harini n he were facing in house hunting..Rohan explained..Harini had a personal maid n cook..and needed space for them..plus she was keen to have a house with a lawn..Ashu seemed thoughtful..and looked at nidhi..

Avvi was playing with Solankiji while Shyama aunty fed him..and he enjoyed..Anji was observing the threesome..

Ashutosh came to nidhi ..n began to talk something serious...his eyes kind n considerate...and finally nidhi gave a big smile..n held his hand..as Col Verma observed!

Anji got up with a sandwich and tried to feed Avvi..but he threw her hand away n hid in Solanki sahib's lap..Anji seemed distraught..as nidhi tried callng her n explained"dont worry..un logon ke saath raha hai..to hil mil gaya hai...tujhse thoda time lagega"Anji bit her lip n darted a reply"main Milan kya gayi..sab ne mere bete ko apni property bana liya..i dont like it.."!Shyama aunty walked up and said in a hushed tone..."Anji..usse hum sab ne isliye paal kyunki tum apne fashion show ke liye gayi thi..aur bachcha hai..hil gaya gai humse..pyaar karo..tumse bhi hil jaayega..isme itta tense hone ki kya baat hai..."!Anji seemed to be ready with an angry repartee when Ashu5took matters into his hands and wisely digressed saying"Arre Rohan..Harini..i n nidhi have a suggestion..kyun na tum humare iss ghar mein shift ker jao..ground floor bhi hai..garden bhi hai..infact humari family ke liye it was v comfortable. .bus in bachchon ke chakkar mein..."!!Harini smiled n replied "sir..uss area mein rents are sky ricketing..its out of our budget..."!!Dr Ashutosh looked at Rohan n said"Hmmm...so lets do one thing..dont pay any rent..no agreement nothing..just stay there..make it your home..bus maintain karna...aur humare kuch photos hain..woh lage rehne dena..."!!And Ashutosh went up n patted Rohan..and Rohan hugged him..saying "how can i ever repay you..."!Ashutosh immediately responded "mere bachchon ko maggi nahi khilana buss"!!and all laughed as Rohan clapped "sorry sirjee..yeh vaada nahi karoonga..infact ..beti hui to uska to pet name bhi maggi rakhoonga...maggi mathur..nice na"??and Ashutosh looked at nidhi ..who was laughing but seemed just a lil jaded!!!

Ashutosh looked at nidhi and asked.."why don't you just lie down..sleep a little..main thoda baithta hoon Col Verma ke saath..jaao..Rohan..."and Rohan came up "jee sirjee.."Ashutosh smiled as he helped Nidhi get up.."just take nidhi into her room..i think she should lie down..tum aur Harini wahin chaho to gup karo.."!and Harini waved"sure sir..cum nidhi.."and Rohan took nidhi into the room with Harini following in her wheel chair..what Rohan had named "chariot of fire"!!

Ranganath wanted to leave and as Anji took Avvi he yelled and pulled at her hair...as Shyama aunty admonished. ."rehne de abhi..tum log jaao..woh shaam ko jaayega..abhi uske khelne ka time hai..hai na Arth..no no..no arth..mera Avvi baba..my sona.."!and Arth laughed..as Ranganath took Anji..n she turned again to say bye but Avvi was busy playing with nana nani ...

"Col Verma..nidhi kal ya parson ..hospital me admit hogi..nothing to worry but now shes about a week away and needs constant care..so we thought...i would also stay with her..aap worry nahi kariyega..its going to be fine.."CV smiled n puffed his pipe.."Ashutosh. .nidhi ki jitni dekh rekh aap ker rahe hain..karte hain..utni koi nahi jer sakta...so mujhe koi tension nahi..i reapect your decisions. .haan if you need any kind of help..just let me know..."Ashutosh smiled and called out "chote sarkaar..ek chai aur bana deejiye plz"!and cs bowed ...as he looked at dadi bua n said"dadi bua..thode se manners seekh leejiye daaktar saab se.."!

It was at about 12 that Ashutosh n nidhi bade bye to dadi bua cv n Rohan Harini..as Harini held Nidhi's hand n said"All the very best nidhi..n yes Maggi is indeed a lovely name"!!and nidhi giggled as they drove back..and Ashutosh said.."tumhe settle karke..id just go to the hospital for a quick round..

"!nidhi nodded..they both understood but neither wanted to tske the name of the shadow that had threatened their dreams...

Ashutosh settled nidhi on the bed ..put the quilt n kissed her..."buss abhi aaya..so jaao ab..samjhi "!and then drove to kgh...where lay his one time friend..now his biggest threat...

Part 1

Dr Ashutosh entered KGH and took the details of Mallika from dr Joshi who looked worried as he showed some scans to dr Ashutosh. .Ashutosh had a closer look and sighed "the right lung is in a very bad shape..basically resistant form!"

Dr Joshi nodded and added "jee sir..she has not been taking the drugs properly and now it seems ...she is .."Ashutosh got up...he knew Mallika..his one time friend..the fulcrum of his lonely life and then his worst enemy was close to a self influcted end..yes TB could be fatal..Ashutosh's brow was furrowed as he entered Mallika's room..she seemed to be asleep...but she suddenly opened her eyes..yes she had indeed become very frail..her eyes had dark circles around them..and she was a lil short of breath..as dr Ashutosh immediately said"oxygen mask please"!but mallika resisted..and told the sister.."plz sister..let me talk to the doctor"!and the nurse could not disobey The Dr Mallika whose writ was law in KGH..once upon a time!

When alone..she tried to touch Ashutosh 's hand..and he kind of drew away ..."achcha..ab main apne dost ka haath bhi nahi thaam sakti"??and Ashutosh looked at her bitterly and said"hum dost kahaan rahe..mallika??tumne apni nafrat mein sab jalaa diya..humara saath humaari dosti...aur..aur.."!and mallika laughed bitterly "nidhi ka baby..."!and As5almost froze and said with a face that was almost stone.."mallika..yeh nat7bhoolo..woh baby mera bhi tha..aur bequsoor tha..tumne apni nafrat mein ek nanhi si jaan ko...maar diya..nidhi ki aankhon ki chamak chcheen li...aur ab dosti""??and then taking a deep breath he said"i am sorry..i am just a doctor..aur tumhare dr Dr Joshi hain..he is a TB specialist. .i ..as you might recall am a neurosurgeon "!and he walked out..his face brimming with anger..or was it angst??

Part 2

Dr Ashutosh inspected the special room that he had been working on for Nidhi..

It was a pvt room with a sofa cum bed for him close to nidhi5patient bed..he looked at the other things in the room..checked the TV..nidhi for a full week in hospital..TV would be a necessity!He smiled but then turned grey..mallika was just a few rooms away..was it safe to shift nidhi into the hospital...or should he make arrangements at home?Ashutosh seemed perplexed and he scratched his beard...but then realised there was no way out..he had to keep nidhi safe and under proper medical supervision too...her condition could turn precarious anytime now...

He dialled his colleague..Dr Bhatt n Dr Agrawal both renowned neurosurgeons ..apprising them of times to come when he might be requesting them to come to tske over his cases in KGHand dr Agrawal smiled n joked "arre bhai jr Hardstone ke liya itna to karna banta hai"!

Ashutosh drove home..stopping to buy flowers for nidhi..lillies ..beautiful n soft just like her..motherhood had made her so much more sweet..so adorable..the innocence of hiis babies reflected in her eyes..their naughtiness in her smile..

Ashutosh parked the car and walked in..Nidhi was awake..trying to pack her stuff...Ashu held her.."kya ker rahi ho..you just have to rest..let me handle everything now...bolo kab chalogi kgh"??

Ashu raised his eyebrow..as nidhi suddenly came close to tears...these days she was very vulnerable indeed..he held her face n asked"dekho jaana to hoga hi..ro kyun rahi ho..main rahunga saath tumhaare..akele thode hi chod doonga"??Nidhi didn't say anything..just held on to him..and as kaka called out for dinner she said"i just want to rest...aap khaa leejiye..i am feeling heavy"!Ashutosh understood. .rest was more important. .n came out..sitting with baba n armaan...as baba asked "nidhi"??ashu answered "rest ker rahi hai..i feel thodi upset hai..ya darr rahi hai..i can't really say..but Hospital to jaana hi hoga..probably parson..baba din mein aap visit kita kariyega..lonely na ho jaaye woh..aur..."and as he trailed off..baba gave a sharp look"aur kya Ashu"?Ashutosh bit his lip..'baba ..mallika is also there..in kgh..so i am...just apprehensive "!Armaan held Ashutosh n said in a calm firm vouce.."tu chinta na ker..main aur baba rahenge din mein..dr Mallika paas bhi nahi aa sakegi nidhi ke..."!Ashutosh smiled ..as he eased and explained all the arrangements. .kaka came in to say that more packages of diapers n nappies had arrived ..n ashu smiled as he hot up to arrange the nurseries..

Nidhi sat in bed..looking at him adjusting things once again..the joy n excitement so apparent in his eyes..she really could5wait to see him hold his bundles of joy. ..she smiled as she caressed her bump..and closed her eyes as Ashutosh came to her..caressing her cheeks ..he sat close by..holding her hand..he said playing with her ring"hum kahaan se chale the..aur kahaan taq pahunch gaye...hai na"??and nidhi smiled as she lay close to him..clutching his kurta...something she always did when she was insecure!!

Chapter 103...

chocolates,, flowers n joy...

To Jayasree my friend..there is no greater nation builder than a house wife..a home maker!I am sure you are a perfect one ..

Dr Ashutosh got up in the morning ..a little early and silently began to pack for Nidhi,her under garments ,her socks ,her towels..her favourite picture of them together..the first selfie..and he tenderly caressed the pic as he recalled how they had clicked it..he didn't pack any clothes for nidhi for she would have to wear the hospital gowns...and then he packed the pink n blue frocks ..two of each for he had been cautious enough not to try and see the ultrasounds carefully enough to guess the sex of the babies..and yet...he kissed the dresses and kept them carefully.Then he went into the kitchen and packed her favourite mixture,bourbon biscuits and then a new box of her milk chocolates!

He sealed the bags after he kept her new pack of toiletries and comb..and then he just came and sat close to nidhi...she was sleeping flat on her back,yes she was very big now..bearing twins was not easy..and yet she had been through it quite smoothly..and yet the thought that one of the babies was the one they had lost. .and the recurrent fear of Mallika and the harm that she could cause..Ashutosh gulped as he put his hand gingerly on her bump and she seemed to feel him as she spoke something...and then smiled in sleep...Ashutosh was mesmerised. .mesmerised by her innocence. .by her ability to give..her ability to bear...Ashutosh caressed her hair..and as he was bending to kiss her..she opened her eyes ...and smiled into his eyes..and he helped her get up.."hmmm...i can smell my chocolates..aapne khaayin"??asked nidhi...and Ashutosh smiled as he replied "no...tumhare liye pack ki ..hospital ke liye"!!and he pointed to the bags...as nidhi looked around for their selfie..and Ashutosh nodded"pack ker li hai picture..i know you love it..."and nidhi said"i love the pic...but i love you more"!and Ashutosh came close to her putting his strong arm around her...

Nidhi washed her hair..growing thicker by the day.and slowly wiped herself ...as she was wearing her gown..she heard Ashutosh ask"Are you ok"?and she said"haa.n"and yet as she was wearing the gown ..he entered..helping her..and as their eyes fell on the mirror both seemed to remember the initial awkwardness..how Ashu felt shy at helping her dress..when her shoulder was injured..He helped her out and got her to the dining area..a huge circular dining table..with lovely flowers and overlooking the lawn..the bungalow was beautiful and yet nidhi did miss their old home..but then the thought of the twins running about made her fprget all...baba tapped her head affectionately and said"beta kha le thoda sa...phir to tujhe jana hai...mujhe bata diya karna lya khaya karegi..main le aaoonga..per nidhi beta mann nahi lagega tere bina..."!nidhi looked at baba n smiled "baba aap mujh se roz milne aaya kariyega plz..yeh to busy rahenge...main akeli pad jaaoongi"!and Ashutosh looked at her with a deep concern..and even deeper love...As nidhi looked around ..Armaan entered with 2 volumes of fairy tales,Archie comics and some lively tube roses..."nidhi bore hoke ..iss dr Hardstone jaise babies nahi le aana..."and nidhi laughed..as Arman hugged her...and the family finished the light breakfast...as Ashutosh said"chalo nidhi...lets go.."and nidhi suddenly felt a lump in her throat...as she got up..baba looked at her n Ashutosh and then blessed both .."khushi khushi jaao..aur dher saari khushiyaan leke lauto "!!and nidhi hugged him..with Ashutosh standing a lil away..understanding all her apprehensions...

Chapter 104...

"Nervous ho kya"??asked Ashutosh as he drove nidhi to kgh..she seemed quiet n lost..her eyes had filled up when she had hugged baba..she looked at him n shook her head in a NO..which was almost a yes..and then held his elbow.."time hai thoda sa aapke paas"??Ashutosh looked at her and said"bolo..time hee time hai tumhare liye.."Nidhi lowered her gaze.."can we plz go to the dargah..just for a moment plz.."??Ashu nodded .understanding her fears ..n said"chalo..but i d not allow you to sit there..bus sar jhuka lena.."!Nidhi smiled..the smile reaching her eyes..as Ashutosh drove to the dargah and parked the car..he took nidhi out..very gingerly..she was in her woollen gown..and as they entered..the maulvi saheb stopped them politely..he recognised them but cleared his throat..."dr sahib..iss libaaas mei..andar jaana munaasib nahi hai.."!Ashutosh stopped..he wanted to argue..but nidhi held his hand.."aap chale jaaiye..meri taraf se bhi dua maang leejiyega..i am seeing from here.."!The maulvi..a kind man..blessed her n said"beti idhar aa jaa..dr saheb saaf dikhenge...aur dargah bhi"!nidhi walked to the corner n stood as Ashutosh walked away looking at her lingeringly...

She saw him put the floral chaadar on the dargaah n then bent down to pray...nidhi remembered all the moments she n he had come to the dargah...together n during the separation. .her eyes were filled with tears..and Ashutosh seemed lost..just then she felt his arms around her ..holding her shoulders and taking her back...she wiped her face and took wee bit of the prasad..and they drove on to KGH...as nidhi felt a tremor of fear..her not being able to visit the dargaah. ..did it signify anything????

Dr Ashutosh walked with nidhi through the corridors of KGH and as she seemed to automatically meander towards his cabin..he put his hand softly around her waist and said "this way nidhi"and nidhi corrected her course and let herself be lead...

Dr Ashutosh opened the door to her private room..warm..sunny n big..nidhi smiled and said"its very nice..bahut bada hai..aap..yahaan.."??as her eyes fell on the attendant bed"Hmm..main yahaan soya karoonga..double bed not permitted in the hospital. ."he completed as he saw the disappointment in nidhi's eyes. .SShe understood...tthere was a knock..ssister Sulekha came in with the light blue flannel gown..nnidhi nnodded"aap jaaiye..id be comfortable. .sister rahengi na"??Ashutosh nodded n said"i d come after my rounds around 3..tumhare paas lunch karoonga but you d gave to eat smsll meals..so follow your schedule.shaam ko 6 bsje Sudhir aayega ..ok"??and then he walked..telling the nurse "sister ..dr nidhi ko ek minute ke liye bhi akela nahi chodiyega..woh khud kahein to bhi nahi..plzz its an order "and he was gone..

Nidhi lay on her bed..feeling a lil sleepy as sister sat by her..caressing her hair in a sisterly way..all at KGH adored dr nidhi..the spring in dr Ashutosh's autumnal life..

Dr Ashutosh was on his detailed round when dr Joshi came ..he shot an eyebrow "sir..dr Mallika..i mean patient mallika wants to walk in the lawns...for fresh air..i believe"!Dr Ashutosh looked at dr Joshi and said"Dr Joshi she is not just a patient. .she is a prisoner..n i for one cannot rake any responsibility. .so you can give her books .."Dr Joshi nodded..and withdrew..as Ashutosh continued on his round..and it was in the end that he entered Mallika's room..nodding to the sentry outside.He saw the parameters and felt her pulse..she was better but only slightly so..she opened her eyes and looked at him..He said matter of factly "you are better...i hope you are eating well"the sister on duty said"sir..doodh nahi piya hai aaj"!Ashutosh got up..saying"mallika..its high time you realise tumhare liye kya achcha hai aur kyaa bura..tumhe kis cheez ki zuroorat hai"!and Mallika smiled a wicked smile"i know Ashutosh mujhe kiss cheez ki zuroorat hai..."and Ashutosh walked out looking disgusted...

Suster surbhi entered..and said"head nurse ne bulaya hai..shaayad duty change hogi..dr nidhi admit ho gayi gain naa"!!and an apparently sleepy mallika opened ger eyes...wide...

"So rahi hain..."!said the nurse in a whisper as dr Ashutosh entered Nidhi's room..he nodded and looked at his watch..it was sharp 3..he signalled to the nurse that he d return in an hour..

He walked to his cabin and ordered a coffee ..and as he sipped it..closing his eyes..the picture of two babies gurgling in nidhi's arms flashed..he smiled n shook his head

As dr Ranganath came in.."sir ..any thing else thats needed for dr nidhi"??Ashutosh rubbed his beard as he thought..but then said"i really dont think so..except that a nurse should always be there with her..thats all..n yes we should all be vigilant about Mallika ..bcoz she can never be trusted when it comes to Nidhi"!Ranganath nodded and as he was about to leave,Ashutosh asked"how is Avvi now??and Anji"?Ranga smiled and said"it seems Avvi understands things faster than his mother...but yes Solanki saheb aur aunty are a big help."!Ashutosh nodded as the door closed and he wound up his medical work...as there were 2 surgeries scheduled for the early morning tomorrow.

The bag of his over night clothes had come and a new suit n shirt was hanging in nidhi's room..but he would have to either go home or request Armaan for a few ties n suits tomorrow. .he sighed as he got up..n walked to nidhi's room carrying his tiffin and a chocolate for her..

Nidhi opened her eyes as soon as he entered and he told the nurse to excuse them..

He rotated the lever to lift up the ned n nidhi into sitting position and asked"feeling fresh..ya aur sona hai"??she yawned "nahi..per main kitta soyi aaj"!and Ashutosh sat by her on ger bed n said"yahaan complete rest milega tumhe..ghar me to kuch na kuch kerti hi rehti ho.."and she gave him a look n asked"aapka lunch"??and he opened a tiffin with upma n salad and began to eat..nidhi enjoyed seeing him eat..she enjoyed him do everything. .and as he finished..she pouted..."mera lunch"??and Ashutosh smiled indulgently as he took out a dairy milk from the pocket of his coat ..peeled it and fave it to nidhi..she took a big bite and then put a piece in his mouth..and he just held on to her...

Nidhi smiled naughtily"patient se intimacy..very unprofessional. .agar dean ko pata chsl gaya...jaante hain yahaan ke dean ko sab dr Hardstone kehte hain..hes very strict"!Ashutosh kissed her n said"Hardstone hua karta tha...ab to sunte gain..he is a soft family man..apni intern se pyaar kar baitha.."!Nidhi played along.."to regret karte hain kya"?and he added "nahi..infact sochta hai..ki woh intern pehle kyun nahi aayi..zindagi mein"!and nidhi laughed..but then just held her bump.."ooouuuch"Ashu turned grey as his hand felt the movement. .let jaao..."and as he got up..she asked "ghar jaayenge na"??and he said"ghar...ghar to wahaan hai jahaan tum ho jaan...yehi ghar hai aajkal"!and they looked at each other...sainyaan!!!

Dr Sudhir entered the room with Dr Ashutosh. .with two KGH nurses in tow ,Ashutosh asked"do we need to take her for an ultrasound "??Dr Sudhir did not reply and asked for his stetho..he examined nidhi..hearing the heart beats of the babies and then proceeding to feel nidhi's.."How are you feeling..taqleef hai bahut"??Nidhi looked tired"no sir..not taqleef as such..but yes i am getting very tired..and ...a lil scared"!Sudhir looked at Ashutosh who breathed in sharply and Sudhir touched Nidhi's hair.."lil girl..i know..twins are tough..but believe me there is no cause of worry..and just move around a lil..just as much as you can..don't overdo at all. .samjhi??and yes do not over eat..small frequent meals..and yes how do you sleep..i mean what position"??Ashutosh answered"for the past 3 weeks only on her back..sometimes on her right..close to me.."!Nidhi turned purple at the intimate detail that her husband shared so matter of factly..Sudhir nodded..and said nothing..but then asked "nidhi ..do you feel ok if i examine you gynaecologically"??nidhi looked at Ashutosh n nodded..as the nurses began to expose her..with a screen in between..and Ashutosh stood with Dr Sudhir ..bending down ..and as nidhi moaned in pain..he held her hand..saying "bus bus..its done.."and nidhi but her lip in pain as dr Sudhir threw his gloves away.."all fine..hopefully in 4 to 5 days you should go into labour..start practising deep breathing...but no pushing please. .."!nidhi smiled "i understand sir...thank you..aap baahar to nahi jaa rahe kahin"??Dr Sudhir patted her again n said"I am here..and world's best..ir at keast one of the best experts is assisting me...dr Pooja bhagat"!!nidhi smiled as Ashutosh helped her be comfortable. .and said "id just be back"!and walked away with Dr Sudhir..as he said"all normal ..as normal as it can be for twins..but her bp was just a lil high as you observed..latent anxiety hai..."Ashutosh nodded"she knows Mallika is around...but don't worry..i am taking fullest possible care.."Sudhir nodded ..shook hands n said"its wonderful to see you getting completed..."and Ashutosh smiled and turned back..glancing at Mallika's room ..as the sister coming out said"theek hain..abhi soyi hain.."!Ashutosh breathed a sigh of relief and walked to nidhi...he smiled at the sister..signalling she could wait outside..and added"kya khaaogi"??nidhi thought and said"sandwich..aur thoda sa doodh..bus itta sa"and Sister smiled and went out as Ashutosh added "mere liye bhi sandwich sister with coffee"!

Ashutosh sat close to her..as she smiled.."ghar me sab kya kar rahe honge abhi..."??and Ashu answered"i am sure teeno tumhare baare me soch rahe honge aur baatein ker rahe honge..."!and nidhi smiled...as she entangled her fingers to her husband's and kissed them..Ashutosh withdrew as sister knocked and came in with food trays..Ashutosh arranged everything and sat to feed nidhi ..as she munched the sandwich and then yawned.."bus aur nahi..i am sleepy.."Ashu smiled as he lowered the bed and sat close by..caressing her. .touching her bump..n her hair..as slowly thise lovely eye lids drooped and he could hear her rhythmic breathing...

He hot up to change and settled on his single bed..finding it rather awkward to sleep away from her..feeling rather incomplete..but then he smiled as he git up to kiss her and locked the door from inside...

In Mallika's room..Sunaina bai was feeding her the medicines and mallika tried to assess her..she seemwd a tough nut...will she help mallika???

Mallika coughed with an effort...and Sunaina bai bent across to help her...astutely..the surgical fingers which had distangled many a nerve..played a puck pocket...and as Sunaina got straight..she didn't realise she had lost her mobile...and as she withdrew..locking the prisoner's toom ..n telling the sentry.."sab ok hai..dhyan se rehna ". .mallika smiled...as she switched off the cell...it was a potent weapin that shed use at the right time...and that vicious smile came back to ger once lovely face...

The last attack...

Mallika had a strange smile on her lips as she looked at the switched off mobile..and hummed a melody...and then her weak

eyes had a shine in them..as she said"nidhi...mere baraah saal tumpe humesha bhaari padenge..humesha"and then hid the cell in her pillow and closed her eyes..

Ashutosh got up to check on nidhi..and then just sat and gazed at his wife..his nidhi...it was in this hospital that they had met..it was in this hospital where she had spread the sunshine of her live in his dark fortress ...and yes it was here that he had extended his hand to her...for life and she had put her hand wordlessly in his..in complete submission n acceptance. .

Who could have thought a few years back when they had met that one day they d be united so intimately..Ashutosh smiled as nidhi suddenly moaned and touched her bump...He got up and stood close to her..and then patted her..but she opened her eyes and looked at him..."kya hua nidhi"??she shook her head n then said"kuch nahi..bus i was missing you..thats all...shayad ..koi dream dekha..yaad nahi"!Ashu touched her cheek n said"main yahin hoon..daro nahi.."and then sat..holding her hand..as she closed her eyes...but then opened them again..n tousled his hair n spoke.."aap tired honge..so jaaiye.kal surgeries bhi hongi aapki..you need to be fresh n alert " Ashu laughed n kissed her nose n said"tum meri surgeries ki chinta nahi karo..maine raat bhar jagne ke baad bhi bahut surgeries ki hain..tumhare aane se pehle.."and nidhi smiled as she held his hand and put it on her bump..and as he raised his eyebrow ,she said"kya lagta hai aapko..do beti ya bete..ya beti beta"??Ashutosh shook his head"i dunno...bus yeh jaanta hoon..lots of joy..lots of happiness..and lots of toys..chocolates n maggi"!!Ashutosh wrinkled his forehead n said"ab so jaao..you need all the rest..phir to poora boxing match chalega tum teeno ka.."and nidhi pouted..and then suddenly asked "kuch poochna tha..twins hain...what if they want feed together??aap help karenge mujhe"??and Ashutosh turned serious as he held her..and said"feeding kya..sab cheez mein help karoonga..."!and nidhi closed her eyes as Ashutosh caressed her hair..and patted her to sleep..

********Sunaina bai was opening her bags..n looking frantically she turned around...just when sister Sulekha entered n said"teri duty hai OT 2 mein..dr Gandhi ke saath"!and the nurse pushed all thoughts away and walked out...

Nidhi was still asleep when Dr Ashutosh changed n freshened up snd walked out for his morning round..leaving sister Seema with nidhi...

Dr Mallika's room was opened as Dr joshi came in to examine her..mallika seemed dull...but she asked.."dr Joshi..Ashutosh kahaan hain..."??Dr Joshi looked at her with half pity and half anger and then said "mam..he is a dutiful doctor..on his round"!and walked out after making his notings...

Mallika looked around..there was about 10 mins to go before the nurse d come to her ...she had fleeting moments...her hands moved inside her pillow...

Nidhi stirred as her cell buzzed..she opened her eyes and looked around to find the kind nurse..."dr Ashutosh chale gaye kya"??the nurse answered "round pe gaye hain..aapko kych problem hai kya..bula doon"??nidhi smiled n said"nahi..bus zara mera cell de dijiye plz"!and she gave the cell that had stopped ringing..nidhi looked at the number..it was unknown...True caller identified it as Nurse KGH..Nidhi wondered...when the cell buzzed again..and after a thought she answered...and was frozen after a "Hullo..."!

The icy voice from the other end was unmistakable. .it was indeed Dr Mallika..and nidhi seemed to be glued..hypnotised..or too scared to move..her face turned white...as the phone fell from her hands ..her lips seem to turn blue as she contorted in pain..and held her bump..."Ashutosh. .Ashutosh...plz"and the nurse ran out to call dr Ashutosh. .as nidhi suddenly felt her teeth clayter uncontrollably...yes it was a panic attack...

THATS ALL FOR TODAY..
