Great discussion going in my absence, girls...sorry I missed all the fun...

Bottomline is women are house and hubby proud...they would not let their husbands down in public..because they derive a lot of pride from their husband's public image...they would not want to compromise it themselves...and whether it is right or wrong, when a man's wife lets him down in public, it is taken as a sign of a man's weakness...whereas when a woman swallows public humiliation, within limits of course, it is perceived as a sign of her mahaanta...that is how skewed our society is...it is going to take generations to change this...look at the example of Hillary Clinton...she stood by her man even after public humiliation...whatever their personal equations, she never let him down in public...I am not saying it is the right thing or a great thing but this is how women have been taught to think...you do not let your partner down in public!

This is one of the reasons why Nidhi surprised me...apart from professional decorum as an intern speaking to a senior doctor, there was also a wife talking to a husband...he was only taking off on her professionally...if she had said a cold sorry and excused herself, it would have worked both ways,...she would have scored professionally and personally...now, the hospital was watching both an intern arguing with her senior and a wife having a public brawl with her husband..right or wrong, i would this very uncharacteristic of a woman...it was obvious that a publi brawl would compromise his image personally and professionally,...whereas, as an intern and a wife, she would have only earned sympathy if she had not reacted to him then...I honestly thought it was a tactical error...she actually missed an opportunity to score...!

I think women are quite protective of their husbands. I would never try to fight with my hubby in front of anyone, be it kids, parents, friends or anyone else. Nor do I like to show anyone that things are wrong between us. All those things are meant to be discussed amongnst us. And this is not just for his dignity but also for our relation which I feel should not be seen at its worst by others. Nice post.

Possibly an overindulgent parent could be the reason...but I really don't know,...am an only child...was pampered all my life before I got married...life turned topsy turvy after marriage...suddenly I had to deal with a short-tempered husband and not over friendly in-laws...it was real tough...but the one resolve I made was that my parents should never know of even the smallest skirmishes...it has taken years to achieve a balance...and my parents did not have a clue for over a year that our initial months were stormy...now we work together,...or rather, he funds my work...and he is very categorical that I should treat his feedback and advice as that of an investor and a senior partner...and I follow that in public at least...at the work place, he is the boss...in front of my other colleagues...we have lively debates...but he does not spare me if I am going wrong...and I have no choice but to listen 😊

Yes of course, Sanya...it is primarily to ensure the relationship stays intact...but his self-esteem is a huge part of the relationship na...men are like kids at the end of the day...they need to be pampered and indulged a bit...and then they are fine...the idea is to give in on smaller things to get larger things done!
