How protective are women of their husbands?

We have all been debating whether it was right or wrong of Nidhi to have walked out of the house...and now their dirty linen is going to washed in public thanks to the fact that they work in the same space...

In this context, I have a question to ask of the members of this forum...and please, this is not a debate on Nidhi and Ashutosh...

How protective is a woman of her husband's image...will she let him down in public unless there is irreversible damage to their marriage...I know many of you may not be married...but am sure you can share what you think based on what you have observed around you etc...

i am merried and mother of two children, but whenever we get on harsh debate,i always shut my mouth, and sign them to shut in front of child.and in front of public means house members and relatives we don't fight but if somethings complaintable we explain but not in public i always avoid fight in front of public or family member.mere ghar me sab ko pata hai,ki main short temper hoon, lekin mere husband hi muze control kar sakte hai, unke saath reheke main shaant rehena sikh gai hoo.and yes,i respect my husband lot and try to maintain his dignity.

Thanks Aru...and yes, couples do not air their differences in public so far as possible...and I think women are even more conscious of this then men,...and while a woman can rant and rave at her husband, she will not do anything to compromise his image in public...unless the circumstances were extenuating!

thanks Alka for sharing your own experience...and yes, that is the first rule at home...we do not fight in front of the kids...we do not let them know that we have differences...and I don't think we have involved even our parents...we don't want to expose our problems to them...it is my belief that allowing a third person to resolve your conflict will lead to the same situation as in the story of the two cats who asked the monkey to help them share a piece of meat...

Whatever our differences, there is no question of airing any of them in public...my husband is as protective of my dignity as I am of his...

Both of us actually work together...although we discuss and debate over work, we don't take any extra liberties because we are married...I did make that mistake onc.e..I was arguing my point continuosly once...after a while, he just said that I would not be doing the same thing if he were not my husband...given that he is the one to have invested the money in the business, his decision should ultimately be respected...I learnt my lesson that day and try and ensure I don't take advantage of my being his wife after that...we discuss work like colleagues instead!

Deepa, that is so true...if working with your spouse is a bad idea because it complicates things on both fronts, then working with an ex would be the worst possible,,,moving on becomes very difficult and the whole world of course wants to be privy to your secrets...

And yes, washing dirty linen does irreparable damage to a relationship,,,because now the whole world knows your problems...both of you lose respect in the eyes of your colleagues, seniors and subordiates...your position of authority within the organization gets compromised...and all of this is going to have a long-term effect...

Interestingly, you were the one to move on...this somewhere corroborates my theory that women are more conscious of image than men,..they don't want the world to know the chinks in their armour...and if you are still with your partner, then you are conscious of not just your own image but his image too...and you don't want that compromised for sure...because women take far greater pride in their men's achievements then men do...I am not saying this is a rule...there are exceptions of course..!

Though this is an ideal situation ... my hubby is very short tempered... so if he gets angry... he just shouts and screams... It could be in front of my family, his family, his friends.. never deterred him... and he would cool down equally quickly and expect things to come back to normal...
Obviously I used to get hurt a lot and I would just shut up...

It depends on the temperament of the couple I guess but unfortunately I can't boost of such mature behaviour as a couple like other forum members...
