I agree with the majority here as well, Mallu is responsible for Mallu. I just wanted to mention another scene I recalled from earlier episode that supports our argument. Nidhi had walked in on Ashutosh consoling Mallika in his office (she's crying on his shoulder) and when he is dropping her home, she apologizes to him and says what Dr. Nidhi must have thought was going on between them. And he says what does it matter, YOU'RE A DOCTOR (meaning how can you think like regular folk) and she answers I'm a woman too. For me, that spoke volumes. Ashu saw Mallu as friend, colleague, buddy but not as a woman. Now contrary, he called and apologized to Nidhi for Mallika's outburst during Raja/Titli story linking Nidhi with Ashutosh. Just some thoughts...

Ok before I get massacred, I don't support what Mallika is doing right now.

Think about it logically, we feel outraged when seeing intimate scenes between Mallika and Ashutosh. However from both their conversations it is apparent that this type of behavior was normal between them.

So what was Ashutosh doing, getting so intimate with Mallika, if not leading her on?

Would any woman stand to be blamed, if a man is so intimate with her for 12 long years and then one fine day turns around and says, but I never was in love with you, I'm in love with the young hottie, who's just joined us at work?

It doesn't excuse Mallika's current behavior, but let's not put the entire blame on her alone. Ashutosh is equally if not entirely responsible for this mess.

@underline.. in past Ashu always has maintain distant from Mallu.. but now Mallu is doing 12 saal ka jaap that tum mere liye woh karte the ,ye karte the..but i want to point out these scenes..recent ones
1. violin one.. Mallu said when i was sick for sulane ke liye tum sunate the..
2. hair comb .. jab mein sick thi tumne mere baal banaye the..
in Coat wala part.. he did't say why he did it.. but i guess it was cold they both needed
coat..
toh Ashu ne jo bhi kiya as a friend ...in need, and still he is doing it..

I think here most of the women would disagree. You mention that even it is embarrassing you owuld ask your friend why you are not getting married and most friends I know would not appreciate the question. Some might snap back saying what's with you??
Ashu did not grow up in a regular environment. Things we take for granted parents, siblings marriage are too alien concepts for him.

He did not have the luxury to take any of that for granted. Thereby he was never exposed to the regular relationships. He did not see marriage as a natural progression in his life. So he might just not have hit him that that is missing form his life and Mallu's.

OK-ur point is valid...Hats off to ur analysis...
Actually i was thinking in this way. as a friend i think, anyone can ask at least once to another friend why he/she isn't marrying...Definitely asking once will not be the cause of embarrassment or interference-it's can be because of curiosity or friendly concern...In that case,i see no reason Mallu did not expose her feeling if asked...then what she was waiting for?
Actually 12 yrs is a big time-it's hard to digest the fact that a woman waiting for 12 yrs didn't give any hint of her feeling and the man couldn't guess it...
Now i think,u r right-as there was no one else in Ashu's life,Mallu began to think Ashu as her own "Haq" in her own way...So she didn't feel any need to express it openly.Sue just instigated her to take forward this relation into Marriage and Nidhi's coming challenged her womanhood..
As for Ashu,yes-being a orphan-he might huv something different perceptions...
It was very nice to get ur experienced views...

Whoa!! I didn't realize that my little post would have such an overwhelming response.

Ok let me clarify why I feel Ashu is to blame for this mess and quite a bit of it comes from my own personal experience and probable actions as a woman.

I've been in both long term relationship with a FWB and a live-in relationship. At no time did I allow the men in question such intimacy that they would dress my hair or the like.

I don't like going to uni-sex parlors for the same reason - I'm uncomfortable with men touching me in a familiar manner.

I would never be comfortable with a male friend getting physically close to me like that. Nor would I go ahead and share a coat with someone with whom I was not in a romantic physical relationship. I'm sure most Indian women are like me in that respect.

Yet Ashu and Mallu have had these experiences in the past. Remember the sharing of the coat was a memory shared by Ashu and not Mallika.

My understanding of their relationship has been that while Mallika is romantically inclined towards Ashu, he has not. But he's always been aware of the feelings she harbors for him. Even when they were dating and before Baba came to know about them, Ash asked Nidhi to model herself on Mallika and take advice from her about her jewelry etc.

Mallika was a familiar visitor in Ashu's house and he never objected to her questioning him about who was coming to his house etc. Remember when Nidhi forgot her bindi in the bathroom, and Mallika questioned him. Ashu didn't ask her to mind her own business, he was instead giving an explanation.

So while his words might've said something, his actions totally belied his words. In his actions, he led Mallika to make certain assumptions about his behavior.

Not that it justifies what Mallika is doing now, or has done in the past. But somewhere Ashu holds some responsibility too for his actions/inactions such as they are.

When there are riots do we absolve the police from all responsibility, if the cops say "but we never came to the scene of the riots, so how can we be held to blame"? Isn't this a similar situation?

^^ When did this happen 😲 *sorry i seriously dun remember this scene*

&

i dun think ... the kind of close up talks still have anything to lead Mallu on..! Jagan made it clear in one of their interactions that while he kept proposing Mallu, she was busy WAITING for Ashu..! So the wait was always from her part..! Mallu has been an emotional anchor for Ashu for all this while.. so i still dun agree that he has led her on..! I still feel that more than the romantic angle .. its the.. 'How can he love someone else' bit thats made Mallu become a demon that she has now!

This was when Ashu forced Nidhi to join him for dinner in Mallu's house and the couple of episodes just before that. He would praise Mallu and ask Nidhi why she couldn't learn something from her.

He even told Nidhi that if she was interested in jewelry and such things, she should take Mallu's advice, since the latter has a good collection and impeccable taste.
