Ashu was just like any other guy and from their dialogs we can see he has done a lot of things that any normal guy would do to have fun, sometimes even harmless mischief like smuggling pizza, etc. But maybe for these years, it was Ashu's intuition that he did not want to give Mallu any thing more other than friendship. Initially he would have given her Armaan's place, and some of the things thye ahce done seems more like things he would have enjoyed with a buddy. Alos, he may have been more into his career to care about marriage and Mallu may have just kept quiet during those years. AFter his Baba deserted him and then the house Ashu changed, developed hosue OCD and Mallu may have then tried to get him to marry her, but he wanted nothing to do with relationships then. I feel this would have been the point when Ashu would have realized what sort of dreams Mallu had for them, but now he could not fulfil them and she could not let them go.

I would also say Mallu was attracted to Ashu becoz of his uniqueness, an orphan brought up by a foster father making it big is very rare, other than all the qualities I mentioned in my earlier post. That in itself would have been the most attractive quality to Mallu, someone who always prided on getting one a kind things. When Ashu praised Nidhi, Mallu's radar beeped and she perceived Nidhi as a danger. That's why when Nidhi resigned she was happy. Again when Nidhi pulled Ashu for dance, Mallu got jealous, she had a really bad feeling about Nidhi. FOr her part, Nidhi got an intuition about Ashu when he returned those ear-rings. And again she felt the connection when they shoock hands. WHen she saw Mallu hugging Ashu one day, she felt jealousy for the first time and her brain perceived Mallu as competition.

But Mallu's shallowness, for want of a better word, comes through when she saw Ashu changing into hardstone with house OCD but could not do anything about it. SHe could not cheer him up like Nidhi did much later. She could not even prevent him from going into her shell, that's how much hold she had on him or how much Ashu would let her have. AT this point she should have understood there was not future with this man, but she insisted on pursuing him even in the face of multiple rejections.

Regarding intuition, it is very personal and depends on how perceptive one is, how tuned they are to someone. I have personally had a feeling of deja vu many times. THere will be times when I would think a lot about some person I know, maybe a cousin, someone I have not met or spoken to for a while. And a few days later I would hear something about that person from my parents and it would almost seem that that was what I had been feeling the last few days, a sense of deja vu right there. SOmetimes seeing someone after a while also gives me a sense about them, not always, just rarely.

the way u explained mallu's nature of possessing unique things reminded me of voldemort.. remember he had the same obsession?
as for the intution,am glad u felt the same i felt...
thank u so much for patiently answering me...
creatin this post and getting answers was very very imp for me!

@Anjani-U can call me Bishal or just Swastik...
I haven't said Ashu is more responsible-but yes,Ashu has very much share of it.Mallu was obsessed with Ashu, that's her problem-but as a best friend of her,Ashu should huv thought from her POV.He should huv stretched the distance long go,for the shake of her whom he calls his best friend-even if it hurts Ashu for loosing a good friend or Mallu feels negative about Ashu for his rude behavior, she feels bad temporarily but Ashu failed to do this.If he hasn't encouraged-he hasn't discouraged enough too.

One more thing to add,i think except Mallu and Ashu's share of this responsibility,it was the situation who also has/had its share.I huv a feeling that Ashu wd end marrying Mallu if Baba didn't leave him.A boy who has his dream of his Love at the age of 14 and writes Shayari, can't be so indifferent about woman or marriage.Even his Baba wanted him to marry Mallu. As Ashu had no other better choice,Ashu had the best option as Mallu.May be he wouldn't feel the sensation of Love like Nidhi in Mallu,it wd be like half-Arranged kinda marriage. That's why Ashu didn't push her away completely and Mallu's obsession went growing.

After Baba left Ashu,he felt no need of any relation more but Mallu didn't loose her hope.Ashu was shaken in his world and he needed Mallu's accompany, but in that time he should huv tried to feel what his best friend and probably only close friend is going through, why she isn't marrying-then he should huv taken firm stand also-if he can't accept her then he must discourage her in all the way-how much painful it may be...

Well, firstly sorry for the delay in replying to this post...i found it v. interesting but was not in a mood for serious thinking and analysis - mudra ke paper ke baad recharge karne me time laga.
My analysis includes both mallu's pov as well as ashu's pov. If anyone feels that i am saying what they said, i apologize in advance.
As we know. Ashu-Mallu have been close friends from the begining of their careers. So, they have been v. v. confortable with each other - so comfortable in fact that one knows exactly how the other thinks and reacts...Mallika has made her feelings quite clear and even proposed to Ashu a number of times...but ashu remained firm that "Dosti se zyada main tumhe kuch de nahi sakta aur dosti se kam dena nahi chahta". Yet he did acknowledge that mallu held atleast second position in his life after BB, if not first. This was enough to keep up mallu hope and as someone pointed out before me she got his companionship and almost all the benefits of a wife except a few obvious ones (whoever wrote this, pl. forgive me i dont remember ur name or id). Though she always craved for more - i vaguely remember a scene when she called Ashu in the middle of the night and ashu concerned asked her if she needed somethining like ...(dont remember the list) and she said something like , 'In cheezon ke alwa insaan ki kuch aur bhi zarooraten hoti hain'.
anyways, my point is that she had most of the rights of a wife, therefore, she felt she was right in jataoing her haq as well the POSSESSIVENESS just like any other wife...therefore, when nidhi entered ashu's life, for mallu, she instantly became the other woman - the woh. Mallu has always felt that she has the first right over ashu and that explains her behaviour to some extent. but the reason for her obsession could be that she had quite quite fixeted idea of ashu as her life partner...so, she took nidhi as a challenge in the begining...but then she took it to the extreme and could not gracefully accept the fact that she had lost out to a mere intern, whose charm and 12 sec attraction from both ashu's and nidhi's side had overpowered her own 12 yrs. devotion and intezaar.
Now, coming to why ashu did not encourage mallu to move on...Ashutosh (atleast the original character of say first 50 epis) is a fascinatingly interesting character from a psychological viewpoint. He was abondoned by the parents who gave birth to him and atleast half his childhood years were spent in fending for himself in a cruel and cold-hearted world. Then, he found his first relation in the form of BB and then, friends like Armaan in school days and Mallika in college days...He began to feel secure and gradually erased the feelings of insecurities of early childhoood...Professionally he excelled and so was well recieved and even respected in his professional circles, yet the society at large probably never quite accepted him and he was always an orphan with no ata-pata of his family, caste or creed (in a relatively small town like lucknow). So, while he himself may not be much inclined towards the institution of marriage, the societal pressure or rather say the societal expectation that a well settled man in his late 20s or early 30s must get married never came into play...though an important question here why BB didnt coax him to get married at the right age (in that case, he would definitely have married mallu due to two reasons - due to the comfort level they shared and simply becoz mallu never let anyone else come near him so he wouldnt have had any option...its another thing that the marriage wouldnt have been perfect because they were way too similar to complement each other well)
So, as ashu himself had no inclination to get married, it never occured to him that it was important for mallu's long term well being and sanity to get married to a decent fellow and have a stable life...also, he was lil bit selfish...he did not want to lose the kind of companionship he shared with mallu, which could have been the case if she had married someone else...
I agree that when mallu told him that adi-sue wanted her to get married and he told her to go ahead, he should have realized that marriage is important for mall and adi-sue and so, should have strongly asked to find some suitable man...or rather should have himself taken the responsibility of introducing her to some suitable men...but ashu was weak here as he didnt want to lose the only strong relation he had at that time. Not only bb had left him, but he also lost the house which was his solace and a symbol of his very existence. i dare say, if mallu had found some man, he would have been hurt not becoz he loved her, but becoz he could not have shared the same equation with her after her marriage... but ultimately would have been happy for mallu's sake.
sorry for such a boring post...

thank u for takin time to reply 2 d post ,shirley.. dont worry abt d length.. it was a post that required analysis...
well ,i agree wid ur pov on ashu.. he was responsible ..2 some extent...may be he was too dependent on mallu that he dint see her needs 2 get settled.. any frend in her place might have insisted her ..
even in d scene ,when mallu told him shes gonna marry jagan ,he reacted the way u explained in d post..
as for mallu,i dont exactly remember when did that dialogue happen ,but yes she was right 2 some extent in jataoin haq ..and felt threatned when nidhi came in picture..

this question caught thinking and after deep thinking i want to explain some points which can be satisfied you.firstly mallika she knew ashu since last twelve years.and from her heart she was directly/indirectly became protector of him.they share their good and bad days together, their studies together. and mallika have no responsibilities[father, mother]brother also settled.so she was independant to do anything good and bad.she always looks around him Ashutosh only.so that she knew ashutosh.and also ashutosh's attitude, behaviour ,kindness and dedication towards patients/kgh.she was always stand behind him like shadow in his each and every activity.so all qualities which she wanted in one man[as a husband]that all qualities she found in him.she is the only person who is near to ashu at that time.[baba left asu,the house was not to ashu].so ashu can put full trust on her.and may be it was first and only love. and now come to ashutosh he was orphah.but some jeanes comes with us biologically.though baba adopt him,he didnot forgot that he was orpphah.it became his pain.He dedicated his life only for his patients and for kgh, because kgh was his dream.he got the fathers love from baba but mothers love he didnot get.he didnot paid attention mallika mo\re than friend. After nidhis arrival in his life, circumstances change.as Jo Machhali bade bade jaal nahi phansti woh ek chhotese kaanteme fans jaati hai. so he started feeling towards nidhi, because of her sweetness, boldness and some extra qualities Mallika couldnot tolerate that and her ego hurts.she also knew that nidhi is 18 years younger than ashutosh.and ashutosh is a dignified dr.society didnot accept this type of relation easily.thats the mainpoint she got to torture ashu.mallika knew that Ladies like DB couldnot accept this anytime.so she found a chance to get back ashu.but after nidhi/ashu breakup she came back to ashu.but ashu only loves nidhi.though he had a soft corner for mallika but only as a friend. humanity, politeness and dedication for work make mallika to love ashu more than anything.please deepaji read this and put your comments,i am waiting

u have summerized the entire story very well..
liked ur analysis of mallu and ashu..
well ,wat i was tryin 2 understand from this question was it was merely a ego problem or something else that made mallika what she became now.. for only a ego problem ,one would not give 12yrs of life na.. did she truly ever ashu ..or for her ,he was merely a trophy which she wanted badly!
thank u so much for answering my questions alka!
